Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log November 30th 2003
20:33:53 - Kit: I still hope that the new arrivals are actually allies, so that we can sort this mess out quickly and get you into medical.
20:34:22 - Kit: Kit and Kraiger could use some rest too (and some coffee
)
20:34:43 - vance: (it's OK now)
20:36:57 - Kraiger just entered this channel
20:37:10 - Kraiger: Hi there!
20:37:16 - Kit: but I am afraid our gamamaster likes to keep the character's adrenaline levels high!
20:37:38 - Kit: Hi there. Looks like the team is complete tonight.
20:37:39 - vance: (alright, heavy weapons have arrived)
20:38:05 - Methuslah: Hello! So, how was everyone's week?
20:38:34 - Kit: Good, so today I can blame YOU for damages!
20:38:48 - Kit: busy, but fun as well.
20:39:23 - Kraiger:
20:39:51 - vance: (good week, chasing the children)
20:40:13 - Kit: before I forget it, I may not be able to make it next week. There is a big promotional event for an organization which I made the webpage for, and I am invited. I do not yet know how long this will take.
20:40:49 - vance: (before I forget, I have no time limit today)
20:41:00 - Kit: I don't want to pass up the free dinner
so I may be late next sunday or not around at all.
20:43:51 - Kraiger: I have to leave in 2 hours 15 minutes today - sorry!
20:44:16 - Kit: Then let's get started.
20:44:36 - Kraiger: Righty-O
20:45:35 - Methuslah: OK. The five suited men were waking down the corridor towards you, one of them with a gun pointed at you.
20:45:56 - vance: vance makes sure the captain is secure in the emergency vacc suit, then looks around a little more, and if he sees no further way to influence any action he will simply lay down.
20:46:11 - Kraiger: (Are suit-comms working?) Kit, take cover
20:46:13 - Kit: Well atleast they don't shoot first like the others did.
20:46:35 - Kit: I try to signal to them which comm channel we use for the suits.
20:46:38 - Kraiger: (Kraiger takes cover, readies PGMP)
20:46:57 - Kit: I hope they are the allies the captain called.
20:47:48 - Methuslah: "Stand down! Identify yourselves!", comes barking over the intercom.
20:47:58 - Kit: (trying comm) Hello, are you the men send by Control. Lieutenant McMasters?
20:48:41 - Kit: I am baroness Dr. Messalinia Kitiara of Regina, IISS reserve. I have an urgent message for the Admiral.
20:49:04 - Kraiger: Kraiger keeps quiet, out of sight
20:49:51 - Kit: The traitors aboard this ship have tried to keep us from meeting him, they have also attacked the Captain without warning.
20:50:06 - Kit: (I try to watch their reaction closely)
20:50:54 - Methuslah: "Show us some ID!"
20:51:28 - Kit: My Message for the Admiral is very urgent. Also the Admiral may be in Danger since the Traitors have cut off communictaion to his suit. (i show them my id)
20:51:52 - Kit: Here you are. (carefully handing them what passes for an id-card in this universe)
20:53:14 - Methuslah: "Right! Come with me."
20:53:21 - Kit: I am afraid communictaion with Control. Lieutenant McMasters was cut off while we were speaking.
20:53:41 - Methuslah: He holsters his gun, and leads off down the corridor - walking past the corridor leading to the ADmiral's cabin, and heading for the elevator.
20:53:54 - Kit: Be careful, there are still some of the traitors in the corridor (points the direction).
20:54:12 - Kit: Sir, where are you going? We need to get to the Admiral.
20:54:33 - Kraiger: (can I hide from them completely?)
20:54:51 - Methuslah: "We've dealt with them - with your help! And the Admiral is no longer in hsi quarters. I'm taking you to Medical."
20:55:47 - Kit: I am not injured, but a comarade of mine, a refugee from the planet and the Captain are in need of medical aid.
20:56:18 - Kit: Sir, may I ask who send you?
20:56:38 - Methuslah: "They'll be treated, but that isn't why I'm taking you to Med. The Admiral didn't get to a suit in time."
20:56:40 - Kit: And who you are?
20:57:01 - Kit: Oh shit. I hope it's not serious.
20:57:18 - Kit: I follow him more quickly.
20:57:40 - Kraiger: (Kraiger has stowed his PGMP, and has his hand near his holstered pistol)
20:57:41 - Kit: (does he seem sincere to me? and what are the others doing?)
20:58:03 - Kraiger: (And I also keep an eye out for my snub pistol, though I 'sepct its long gone...)
20:59:27 - Kit: Was the admirals cabin damaged?
20:59:45 - Methuslah: His tone sounds sincere, but you can't see his face through his plate - it appears slightly damaged. One of the other guards is walking with him, the rest have moved off down the corridor.
21:00:17 - Methuslah: "I am SErgeant Tria, IMC. The cabin was open, and his lock damaged. He suffered primary decompression."
21:00:27 - Methuslah: He steps into the elevator, and motions you in.
21:00:36 - Kit: (I'll keep alert but for now I just hope we ran into someone loyal for a change.
21:01:04 - Kit: (how much time has passed between the damage and now?)
21:01:12 - Kit: (I follow him)
21:01:38 - Kraiger: OK, I'll follow along
21:02:13 - Kraiger: Sergeant, I am Lt. Col. Kraiger, ex-Imperial Commandos. Who is in command of the fleet now?
21:02:28 - Kit: Sergeant, could you send a team to pick up the Captain and our comarade in the captains office?
21:04:11 - Methuslah: "You'll have to talk to Fleet Captain Barnes about that, sir. We've had no orders."
21:04:18 - Kit: (the name Sergeant Tria anywhere on our blacklist?)
21:04:22 - Methuslah: He taps a sequence on the keypad, and the elevate begisnt o descend.
21:04:34 - Kit: IFrleet Captain barnes anywhere on the list?)
21:04:52 - Kit: (I try to memorize the sequence)
21:08:18 - Kraiger just entered this channel
21:09:03 - Methuslah: Not that you can recall. The elevator suddenly jerks to a stop, and you begin to hear a hissing outside.
21:09:54 - Kit: Hissing? We are still in our suits. Is this "hissing like somwthing is broken" or "hissing like expected repressurizing"?
21:12:05 - Kit: (Does the sergeant show any recation tho the sudden stop and the hissing or did he seem to expect it?)
21:12:28 - Methuslah: (Like repressurizzing. The sergeant is just standing there, waiting.)
21:12:59 - Kit: OK, then I see no need to get nervous, as long as he doesnt.
21:14:28 - Methuslah: After a few minutes, a light flashes green on the elevator control panel, and the sergeant pulls off hs helmet.
21:15:10 - Kit: (opening my helmet as well)How far to Medical Sergeant?
21:17:04 - Methuslah: "Another twenty levels."
21:17:57 - Methuslah: The elevator starts to descend again. Aftera few minutes, it pulss to a halt, and opens with a hiss into a corridor. You see a couple of dozen guards filling the corridors, several of them outside one room in particular. The sergeant begins to remove his suit, and mocks it into a cabinet - he motions for you to do the same.
21:18:02 - Kit: (deep sigh) somewhat larger than my bucephalos, this ship.
21:18:33 - Kit: (doing as he asks)
21:19:16 - Kraiger: (OK, remove suit and follow along)
21:20:47 - Methuslah: The sergeant, after removing hsi suit, points to a door, and says, "In there, please." It is the oddr flanked by the guards.
21:21:25 - Kit: (I'll walk into the direction. Any signs for "Medical" around?)
21:21:58 - Kit: (I assume amedical section would be marked as such)
21:25:20 - Methuslah: The wall decor indicats it as the Medical level, btu the room you are being ushered itno is more of a conference section. The room is filled with braid - a Captain sitting at the head of the tap, and assortment of Captains and COmmanders around. The Captain, motions you to a chair.
21:25:41 - Methuslah: "I am told you have something to tell us, Colonel, Baroness."
21:26:16 - Kit: Yes Captain, I do, but may I know who I am speaking to first?
21:27:42 - Methuslah: "I am Fleet Captain Barnes, madam, acting Fleet Commander."
21:29:01 - Kit: (nodding to him and taking a seat) Captain barnes. I have some general information about the Zhodani Attack and about what we encountered down on the planet. I broadcasted this data ahead during our flight from the planet. Was it picked up ba the fleet?
21:29:45 - Kit: I also have some classified data that I am supposed to give to the Admiral only. How is his situation?
21:30:04 - Methuslah: "My lady, the first I knew about you was wwhen I was informed that you had blown out the bulkhead on the command deck."
21:30:25 - Methuslah: "The admiral...is in surgery. Our top medical officer is working on him now."
21:31:11 - Kit: I am sorry about that. Unfortunately it was the only option if we did not want to be killed by the traitors. I have the data here (getting out a data crytal with the broadcasted report)
21:31:28 - Methuslah: "Then please - tell us."
21:31:49 - Kit: something strange happened on the planet. Possibly an attack by unknown enemies, possibly a first encounter situation.
21:32:22 - Kit: (I try to give a quick report of what we encountered on the planet I hope you don't expect me to type that much)
21:32:57 - Kit: (I try to be as precise as possible, reminding them of the light that had been following us and that may still be heading this way)
21:33:53 - Kit: Now the reason that we originally came here from Trane is the fact that the Zhodani have declared War on the Empire. Their Attack at Trane was pushed back, barely, but the problems on the planet here may be related.
21:34:06 - Kit: Also there is the matter of traitors.
21:35:03 - Kit: If you are the acting commander Captain, I assume you are cleared to read the classified data.
21:35:33 - Kit: I do not know about the rest of the people in this room though?
21:36:42 - Methuslah: "They are all cleared, Baroness, I can assure you of that. The reason I am acting commander is that Commodor Hargreaves...was not. COuld you please show me the list, and your recorded data. You will appreciate that I will need some solid evidence."
21:37:04 - Methuslah: A mediacl orderly walks in, and whispers something in the Fleet Captain's ear. You only hear the name of a rather familiar medical officer...
21:37:49 - Kit: Sir, is Captain (insert name) operating on the Admiral?
21:39:11 - Kit: He happens to be one of the traitos and tried to lock us up in quarantine without a chance to contact the Admiral!
21:39:34 - Methuslah: "My God! He is! Orderly!"
21:39:46 - Methuslah: The Fleet Captain runs from the room, leaving the rest of the officers in stunned silence.
21:40:16 - Kit: I jump up and follow him.
21:40:34 - Kit: Kriager, quick
21:41:20 - Kraiger: (Followng along) - yes, I want to meet this medical officer face to face...
21:42:47 - Methuslah: You run out of the room, finding Barnes banging on one of the doors, with a couple of guards.
21:43:31 - Kit: Captain, can you pvverride the lock?
21:44:54 - Methuslah: "Medical Override - no high-ranked surgeon on the deck!"
21:46:04 - Kit: Darn (pulling out tools) I assume my Doctor's licens won't open the door, but I hope this will (readying tools)
21:46:48 - Kit: Do I have your permission to damage some systems if necessary? (while already getting to work opening the door via the magical engineers key)
21:47:18 - Methuslah: "You're a Doctor?"
21:47:26 - Kit: yes, I am.
21:47:43 - Kit: The DR in my title is ctually a Dr. med.
21:48:27 - Methuslah: "Push that button!"
21:49:02 - Kit: OK, what does it do (pushing the button looking somewhat puzzled)
21:50:08 - Methuslah: "Open the damn door!!!"
21:51:08 - Kit: (What kind of button is he referring to? I doubt that I am in the fleets database as a medical officer, but I'll try whatever he suggests mught work)
21:52:33 - Kit: Medical Override, Dr. messalina Kitiara of Regine, IISS (insert whatever license number I may have) medical emergency, open door immediately.
21:53:29 - Methuslah: Your noble rank is sufficient.
21:53:34 - Kit: (if there is no immediate reaction I'll get my tools again and do it my usual magical way)
21:53:51 - Kit: really? cool I should try that more often.
21:53:58 - Methuslah: And the door opens. You see a man in a naval MD's uniform, rank Captain, sittingo n a chair - a handgun aimed at the Admiral's head.
21:54:36 - Kit: (how is the Admiral? awake, unconscious? obvipusly wounded?)
21:55:25 - Kit: Captain (insert name), please do not make this any worse than it already is. You are a doctor for chrissake. have you forgotten your vow?
21:55:34 - Kraiger: Kraiger immediately moves to the side of the room - leaves pistol holstered, but ready for a shot
21:56:06 - Kit: What do you expect to accomplish here?
21:56:21 - Methuslah: "My vow is to the people of the Empire - and must override all other constraints."
21:56:39 - Methuslah: The lifesign monitors are active- th eAdmiral's condition is deteriorating.
21:56:48 - Kit: You are not doing the empire any favor by killing it's officers.
21:58:05 - Kit: Captain, please be sensible for a moment. You cannot accomplis anything by murdering the Admiral.
21:58:39 - Methuslah just entered this channel
21:58:56 - Methuslah: "Not I. BUt there are others who might."
21:59:12 - Kit: Coldly murdering a patient who depends on you. You do not want to do that (I hope that since he did not try to immediately kill us in quarantine, he does have some scruples about killing and try to get them to the front)
22:00:28 - Kit: You say you serve the empire. The why do you want to throw it's military structure into chaos at it's time of greatest need? And with such an awful murder.
22:00:29 - Kraiger: (Kraiger makes a close check of the scene - is his weapon ready to fire, or is he perhaps unskilled in handling such things?)
22:00:45 - Methuslah: "What am I accomplishing here? I have you occupied. I end the life of the ADmiral commanding the fleet. A brutal thug to possilby desreves his death."
22:01:06 - Methuslah: He looks skilled, and his weapon is ready.
22:01:14 - Kit: You are a doctor, like me. We are sworn to protect life, all life, even that of our enemies, if possible.
22:02:06 - Kit: It is not for us to judge who deserves to die. If you murder him, you will murder part of what you are as well. Do you really want that?
22:02:30 - Methuslah: "But what is the grater morality? To protect one life, or to protect billions?"
22:03:40 - Kit: The duty of a doctor is to protect all life entrusted to him, first and foremost those immedietely in his charge. Each life counts, and one cannot be measured agains another.
22:04:33 - Kit: One does not become a doctor because he wants to destroy life. You know that as well as I do. Do not become a traitor to your own heart.
22:05:20 - Kit: A doctor nurtures and protects life, even that of a man who attacks him and insults his family.
22:05:48 - Kit: We are healers, not killers, and you are too. Please don't do something stupid.
22:06:12 - Kit: (does my speech seem to have any effect on him?)
22:06:17 - Methuslah: "BUt I am not only a doctor, but a servant of the Empire. I repeat; to whom should I show the greater loyalty?"
22:07:03 - Kit: To your vow and to the empire. What makes you think you cannot serve both. What makes you think you have to murder your patient to serve the empire?
22:08:41 - Methuslah: "If I let him go, or save his life, then the mission I am on si copmpromised. I could ahve killed oyu; I did not. I only kill when I must - and it was your decompression that is killing this man. I merely choose not to save him."
22:10:00 - Kit: Then let me save him. I do not know what your mission is. maybe we can talk about this later. But if your mission involves killing this man and hindering us, then it does not serve the empire, no matter what someone may have told you.
22:11:30 - Kit: I serve the empire, with every string of my being. And I can assure you, that what I do is good for the empire. You can trust me in that. Whoever send you on your mission most likely lied to you, or fed you half truths.
22:11:30 - Methuslah: "But what is the Empire? What is its heart? The Nobility or the Navy? I choose my service."
22:11:55 - Kraiger: (Kraiger is looking for any sign of hesitation on the doctors part - very slowly edgng to get out of his line of sight)
22:12:27 - Kit: Pleas, let us save the Admiral and then we can figure out the rest. There are hostile forces aboard in this system. They have already killed mayn innocent people. We need every doctor we have to help the others.
22:13:27 - Kit: The heart of the empire is the emperor, and all the people in the empire. It may not always be a perfect place, but would you rather want the long night back, or the Zhodani controlling your life and thoughts?
22:14:17 - Kit: Your service is that of a doctor, to save life. Your heart is part of the empire too, as is the navy.
22:14:32 - Methuslah: "The Empire is the figurehead - but one man cannot rule. Is it to be the Moot - or the Admiralty. This is the question that must be resolved. Here. Now."
22:15:25 - Kit: I do not knwo who told you that murdering the Admiral would help the Empire, but asking a doctor to murder his patient? Is that what the heart of the empire should be? The heart of the empire is what we make of it. Not more, not less.
22:16:24 - Kit: Why, why do you want to resolve such a big question here, under such circumstances?
22:16:52 - Methuslah: "Take your armed me out. You may operate. Get Lietenant Tanaka here, and one of your men. But this question is not resolved - merely postponed."
22:17:13 - Methuslah: The Fleet Captain whispers that Tanaka was one of those who fought you on the command deck.
22:17:36 - Methuslah: The Doctor's finger has remained firmly on the trigger all the way thoruhg - but you are now out of his line of fire, Kraiger.
22:18:35 - Kit: That is ok with me for now. I do not want to loose any more lives. But we still have to deal with the lights (turning to the Fleet Captain) Sir, please let me operate here. Read my report about the lights, all the data we recovered on the planet is on the data crystal. try to prepare for whatever may be behind this.
22:18:49 - Kraiger: (Kraiger stands quietly - no threatening moves)
22:19:37 - Kit: (slowly moving towards the Admiral, hands clearly open.) Captain, please, let me help this man, let me save his life. We can talk about everything else later.
22:20:12 - Methuslah: "Operate, my lady. Do what you can. I will fetch Tanaka - and cover your data."
22:20:39 - Methuslah: "Once Tanaka arrives, and all but one of your men leaves, you may start work."
22:21:12 - Kit: Good (checking the patient and getting to work) Please captain, leave me room to work. I am not armed.
22:22:06 - Kit: I do not know how long it will take to fetch Tanake. With the communication down in parts of the ship. The Admiral does not have ,much time. Please let me start to help him now.
22:23:07 - Methuslah: The captain mvoes back, but the gun is still trained on the ADmiral's head. Another man enters, wielding a gun - and takes a stance covering you. Only you, the Captain, Kraiger and Tanaka are allowed in.
22:24:15 - Kit: (I'll get to work on the patient, ignoring the various guns) medical 2D6: 10
22:25:25 - Kit: (while working) Captain, why do you insist that it must be eitherthe Moot or the Admiralty? They are both part of the Empire? All do their part of the job. What is wrong with one or the other?
22:25:33 - Methuslah: Ok - you have worked ou the problem. I'm going to require five Medical rolls at 7 or more to be successful. You will have ten attempts in total to get that score.
22:26:15 - Methuslah: "SHould the Empire be run to serve an aristocracy, or should it serve the common people - and thos ewho spend their lives in their defence. The Navy is the wall of the Empire - the Nobles are its cancer."
22:26:38 - Kit: (ou, ok getting started, chatting with the captain all the time. I'm still trying to fugure out exactly what his problem is) 2D6: 8
22:27:47 - Kit: So you oppose the nobles? They do their duty in the empire as well. why do you think they are the cancer?
22:27:57 - Kit: 2D6: 7
22:28:15 - Methuslah: "I cannot see what they do."
22:28:58 - Kit: Do you see what I do? Shall I tell you what I have been doing for the last 37 years?
22:29:12 - Kit: 2D6: 5
22:30:04 - Kit: (getting distracted) Do you think just because you cannot see what kind of work someone does, it does not happen?
22:30:22 - Methuslah: "A fwe isolated cases are irrelevant - and what did you do for the Empire?"
22:30:31 - Kit: 2D6: 8
22:31:32 - Kit: Well, In the last two weeks I helped repell a Zhodani Attack at Trane. Over the course of my life I have done much more.
22:32:41 - Kit: And I am not talking about a few isolatet cases. I happen to know a lot of nobles. And most of them work very hard. Leading their people. taking care of them. Organizing civilized life even across far boundaries.
22:32:55 - Methuslah: "But your class, dear Doctor. What have they done. In a thousand years how has the life oe the common man of the Empire imrpoved?"
22:33:46 - Kit: (I start telling him a few examples about nobles that have fought hard for the empire, either on the battlefield or at the conference table.)
22:34:30 - Kraiger: Kraiger is still alaert, waiting for a possible chance to leap
22:34:44 - Kit: I do not know about this particular sector, but I know of many examples where the nobles have done much to improve the life of the commoner.
22:35:10 - Methuslah: "And I can give you a million times as many examples of bravey of the fighting men of the Empire! They back us, not some aristocracy! And what have they done for the peopl - for the good of the people themselves?"
22:35:36 - Methuslah: You notice the Doctor growing slightly more agitated - Tanaka is beginning to lapse in concentration slightly.
22:36:06 - Kit: For example on regina, there was a natural catastrophe some years ago. many people lost everything they had. It was the nobles of my house who helped them get a new start, who organized relief from all over the planet and who put much of their personal effort and money into this.
22:36:47 - Kraiger: (Both have drawn weapons, right?)
22:36:51 - Kit: 2D6: 7
22:38:26 - Methuslah: Yes. Tanaka is pointed at you - the Captain at the Admiral.
22:38:39 - Kit: There is bravery among all men of all classes. But it is wrong to claim that the nobles are not doing their part. Leadership is a hard task, my friend. And it is often a thankless job, because whenever something goes wrong, the leaders are blamed. It is so easy to say, Oh, the nobles are the cancer of the empire. But Life isn't ease, and the universe isn't easy.
22:38:50 - Methuslah: Kit - you have saved the Admiral's life.
22:39:24 - Kraiger: (Again, _slowly_ (as if just shifting my weight) move sideways, to put the captain between Tanaka and I
22:39:43 - Kit: Captain, the easy answers are often the wrong ones. It is like a human body.
22:41:05 - Methuslah: You are unnoticed.
22:41:20 - Kit: You see, if the heart is acting up, it would be easy to say: uh, the heart is the cancer, cut it out! But you know as well as I do, that a body needs all its organd to function. The glorious ones like th heart and the brain as well as the humble ones like the toenails. Only together do they make a functioning organism.
22:41:32 - Methuslah: "Congratulations, my dear. Let us hope that all has not been in vain, and that I am not forced to kill him."
22:42:04 - Kit: As a doctor you well know that a body is a complicated thing, and that there is rarely an easy answer if it is sick. It is the same with any society.
22:42:13 - Methuslah: "But there are diseases that kill an organism. Malignancies that destroy it slowly, from within. Should we not excise a cancer?"
22:42:44 - Kraiger: Stand in place, seemingly lost in thought, but ready for a shot...
22:43:10 - Kit: Yes, admittedly, but you knwo that it is not always easy to recognize what is part of the cancer and what isnt. And even if you cut out a cancerous organ, you leave the rest of the body crippled.
22:44:23 - Methuslah: The Captain stands.
22:44:27 - Kit: Ans with an organism as big and complicated as the empire, are you sure that you can clearly identify what part of it is beyond healing, and are you sure you know, with absolute certainty, that what you want to cut out won't leave a hole too big for the rest to survive?
22:44:54 - Methuslah: "A thousand years of waiting, of trying, of watching the nobility rule while others starve. This is not long enough for you?"
22:45:32 - Kit: healing is always the better option than just cutting something out. If you do tha latter, you may discover too late that what you threw away was essential for the survival of the whole.
22:46:44 - Kraiger: Looking for a chance to rush the captain without letting Tanaka get a shot...
22:47:20 - Kit: Well, in all societies, in all times there have always been those who starve. There is no such thing as a perfect society. But let's just say we remove the nobles from the pictiure. What would you do to keep the people from starving?
22:48:09 - Kit: What woudl you do to solve the problems that are part of life: natural disasters, diseases, conflict between humans and other races.
22:49:13 - Kit: If you have a good solution for the worlds problems, one that actually works in real life and not just around the discussion table, please, share it. I know many people, noble and not, who would really appreciate hearing about those ideas!
22:49:36 - Methuslah: "The money wasted on the noble's follies would save billions - and the Navy protects the Empire from outside. Adn there would be freedom."
22:49:58 - Methuslah: "Freedom! The nobles no longer dominant. Instead - we would have people."
22:51:07 - Kit: Yes true, it would be a great thing if all men could be equal, and all could be equally wealthy. But Humans are not equal. Even if you gave all humand equal amounts of property. I bet you, it would be less than a month, and there would agaoin be those who are poor and those who profit off them.
22:52:10 - Kit: But who would make the decisions in such a society? Lets say you want to do something as simple as building a street. How will you decide on the course of the street. Who will do the actual digging, who will pay for the materials?
22:52:28 - Methuslah: The Captain is really waving his armes around now - his attention on other matters. "But let us not try something new! For aovera thousand years - one system. The opporession of the few by the many. Should we not try - not strive for a better future. Must we resign ourselves to the status quo forevermore?"
22:53:32 - Kit: You are always talking about oppression. In your perfect world. How would you keep the strong from oppressing the weak?
22:54:03 - Kraiger: (I wait for the exact moment - when his gun is pointing away, hopefully in the direction of Tanaka, I will rush him - grapple, and then use his weapon on Tanaka - _only_ if I think there is a fair chance of success.
22:54:11 - Kit: How would you keep the intelligent ones from outwitting the dumb ones?
22:54:38 - Kit: How would you insure thet your perfect world remeins perfect?
22:54:49 - Kraiger: (I watched the Bourne Identity last night - its the sort of thing he would have done!
)
22:55:22 - Methuslah: "If all else fails - the Navy will still remain, to protect from within and without."
22:55:43 - Methuslah: His gun is waving in the appropriate direction now. 8 or more to carry out your maneouvre.
22:55:59 - Kraiger: Lunge! 2D6: 5
22:56:05 - Kraiger: d'oh!
22:56:29 - Kit: The navy? What would keep the Navy around? By what authority? Who will be in command of the navy? And what if the navy decides it wants to be the new nobility and starts to oppress the people?
22:56:45 - Methuslah: The Captain takes a shot at the Admiral, and Tanaka takes a shot at Kraiger.
22:56:50 - Methuslah: Captain: 2D6: 3
22:56:59 - Methuslah: His misses, smashing into the bulkhead.
22:57:02 - Methuslah: Tanaka: 2D6: 5
22:57:13 - Methuslah: He also misses, by a fraction of an inch.
22:57:17 - Kit: Kraiger, no! (trying to hit the captains arm away so the shot doesnt hit the admiral
22:57:30 - Methuslah: "You nobles prove yourselves!" yells the Captain as he dives for cover.
22:57:55 - Kraiger: Continue on to grapple the Captain 2D6: 6
22:57:58 - Kit: (interposing myself between the captain and the admiral and trying to ram my tranqu syringe into the captains arm if I get a chance)
22:58:10 - Kraiger: (The die-roller sucks today! :-> )
22:59:01 - Kit: (I am first and foremost interested in covering the admiral. If I can find something (tranq patch etc) to take out the captain, I will do so.
22:59:40 - Kit: If you want a roll 2D6: 11
22:59:56 - Kit: (who said the die roller sucks
)
23:00:31 - Methuslah: You can use a tranq on the Captain - you get him first time.
23:00:46 - Methuslah: Tanaka will get another shot at you: 2D6: 8
23:00:53 - Methuslah: And hits this time! For 2D6: 9
23:01:10 - Methuslah: Nine points of Damage, Kraiger! You slide down to the floor, stunned.
23:01:20 - Kit: (still trying to cover the Admiral) Kraiger, get Tanaka!
23:01:26 - Kraiger: Ouch! If I am able, draw my pistol and return fire
23:01:43 - Kit: Dammned. (I grab the captains gun from his grasp)
23:02:04 - Kit: (aiming for tanakas weapon arm) 2D6: 4
23:02:30 - Kit: (Ok so I am better at patching tha shooting
)
23:03:01 - Methuslah: You miss, smashing into a panel of computer banks.
23:03:12 - Methuslah: Kraiger - you can fire, but 8 or more to hit this round.
23:03:40 - Kraiger: Come on! 2D6: 7
23:03:47 - Kraiger: crap!
23:03:51 - Kit: (trying again befoire he gets a shot at me or the admiral) Tanaka, surrender, please, I do not want to kill you (I shoot as soon as he points the gun in my general direction)
23:04:10 - Kraiger: (Cliff-hanger time? I gotta go....)
23:04:11 - Kit: shooting roll 2D6: 9
23:04:42 - Kit: (in the middle of a shootout? you really want to go now, You'll miss al the fun?
)
23:06:36 - Methuslah: YOu got him in the chest! He crumples to the ground, unconscious. Suddenly, you hear a banging on the door...
23:06:39 - Methuslah: Fade Out!
23:07:10 - Kraiger: Phew! Maybe I should let Kit do all the fighting in the future...
23:07:29 - Kraiger: Gotta run - see you next week!
23:07:36 - Kit: Chest? I was aiming for the weapon arm. I really didn't want to kill him. I have to practice my shooting.
23:07:54 - Kit: No thanks, I'd rather stay with the patching.
23:08:23 - vance: (later kraiger)
23:08:47 - Kit: so maybe you could cut the scene to vance? he didnt get to do anything today?
23:09:08 - vance: (well there's not much vance can do.)
23:09:32 - vance: (and watching your political philosophy discussion was interesting.)
23:09:56 - Kit: And now Kraiger is injured as well. I guess we'll have to put in some time in medical somewhere, or I'll have to hire a new team
23:11:04 - Kit: It wasn't so much a discussion as trying to get through to someone who was just throwing empty phrases around and never thought things through. The usual revolutionary stuff: Down with the king, all men equal. Just that it never works, but they don't think that far.
23:12:12 - Methuslah: I reckon you'll be patched up properly for next time. Kraiger, OTOH, is now incapcatitated in the next game.
23:12:41 - vance: (good, I'll be here. but kit won't be?)
23:12:42 - Kit: well, the doctor is around
and I will also try to pathc up the Tanaka guy if I can. Do you want the rolls now or next time?
23:13:19 - Kit: Yes, next week I may be late or not around at all. Don't necessarily count on me.
23:13:37 - Methuslah: My internet connection seems to have gone flaky all of a sudden. I just had to reconnection, but it doesn't seem to be helping. We'd better do the rolls next time.
23:13:50 - Kit: Maybe we can just fast-forward this to when Kraiger and vance are up and about again so they can play without me next week?
23:14:47 - vance: (however the ref wants to do it.)
23:15:04 - Methuslah: Should be no problem. Anyway, haev a good week, everyone!
