Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log November 16th -

20:30:59 - vance: (kit going to show up?)
20:32:44 - Methuslah: She already sent out an email saying she's not going to make it - so let's begin.
20:33:41 - Kraiger: OK. We were bouncing around outside a battleship, right?
20:34:10 - vance: (I can play until 1450)
20:34:45 - Methuslah: (What is that in GMT? Its 2034 where I am.)
20:34:51 - vance: (yes, I had jumped over the sensor array and secured a line for you to use in crossing.)
20:35:21 - vance: (I can play for two hours and fifteen minutes)
20:35:29 - vance: (from now)
20:36:07 - vance: "just hang onto the line kraiger and you should be alright."
20:36:50 - Kraiger: OK.... here goes - 2D6: 7
20:36:53 - Methuslah: Yes. As I recall, you had to roll 4o or more on 2d6 to safely jump across the sensor trench.
20:38:00 - Kraiger: ahhhhhhhh..... (thump) .... I hate this zero G stuff!
20:38:18 - Methuslah: OK. You safely gilde over, tugging on the rope when needed to gently land back on the deck. You notice that Kit is tapping at her helmet.
20:39:10 - vance: vance puts his helmet in contact with hers. "do you have a comm failure?"
20:39:20 - Kraiger: Kit, whats up?
20:39:41 - vance: "great jump kraiger, we'll take care of you."
20:39:40 - Methuslah: "Yes - my radio's on the blink. Typical fleet rubbish."
20:42:38 - vance: "ok, I'm kind of lost on what we are doing out here. you want us to radio-contact someone in particular who may not be a traitor with this captain (?), or are we doing this entirely at random?"
20:43:19 - Methuslah: (As I recall, you were trying to make it up to the command deck.)
20:44:26 - Kraiger: OK, lets get moving - I don't want to hanga round out here any longer than necessary...
20:45:26 - vance: vance heads out in the direction of the command deck.
20:46:16 - vance: (vance has never seen a vessel this big before, let alone gone on a walkabout on one.)
20:46:20 - Methuslah: The deck is about a quarter of a mile further along. It is slow work, jumping around outside. You suddenly see another, series of small obstructions - they seem to be part of the communications system. You can get over these easily (4 or more roll) or you can go around, for a five minute delay. YOu have about an hour before the mysterious light arrives.
20:47:25 - vance: "getting your space legs yet, kraiger? we can jump again."
20:48:08 - Kraiger: OK.... Hmmmph - 2D6: 7
20:48:42 - vance: 2D6: 2
20:48:51 - vance: (oh ick)
20:48:52 - Methuslah: Kraiger neatly jumps over. Kit: 2D6: 12
20:49:05 - vance: (that's with vacc suit 3)
20:49:26 - Methuslah: Kit lightly bounces over, but Vance was not so lucky. You accidentally fired one of your maneuvering jets, and it has pushed you away from the ship. You'll need a 6 or more to get back safely.
20:50:39 - vance: ("'we'll take care of you' I said. humph.") 2D6: 5
20:51:32 - Methuslah: You misfire you jet - you don't move any faster, but you are still gliding away from the ship. You can make the check again - one more failure and you will start to show up on the external sensors.
20:52:08 - Kraiger: Vance.... where are you going?
20:52:39 - vance: ("'hazards of feudalism' my ass ...") 2D6: 7
20:54:59 - Kraiger: OK Vance, stop showing off and lets get moving!
20:55:41 - Methuslah: Vance's jets fire in the nick of time, pushing him back towards the hull. You lock back on, on the right side of the trench. Fifty minutes now before the light arrives.
20:58:07 - vance: "graceful as tinkerbell, eh? to the command deck."
20:59:59 - Methuslah: After another fifteen minutes, you manage to reach the lock on the command deck. Kit's suit is developing further problems, though - the servos on the arms have seized up.
21:00:08 - Methuslah: Also, the airlock is security sealed.
21:01:06 - vance: "alright ma'am, what do you want? shall we radio someone, do we walk in, something else?"
21:01:25 - Methuslah: "My radio is till bust - why don't one of you guys have a try?"
21:02:15 - Kraiger: OK Vance - lets get into some sort of cover incase they object to people wandering around outside their ship!
21:02:35 - vance: "kraiger, you might talk to these people better than I can. ma'am, give us a frequency and we'll start broadcasting."
21:03:02 - Kraiger: "This is Lieutenant Colonel Kraiger, Imperial Commandos. We have an urgent message for the Admiral, brough directly from Trane orbital.
21:03:21 - Methuslah: "Try the standard naval command channel - tune in frequency 00131a."
21:04:26 - Methuslah: Static on the frequency.
21:05:46 - vance: "we're only getting static, ma'am."
21:07:07 - Methuslah: "No good - we'll have to go in. I can't do anything with my suit kludged up like this. One of you will have to break in."
21:07:48 - Kraiger: I'll try imperial emergency channel - (tranmsits again)
21:08:08 - vance: "crash the party, eh? well ..."
21:09:08 - Methuslah: Just static - there is a very powerful field in operation.
21:09:38 - Kraiger: Well, OK. Lets have a look at it then (Moves to airlock)
21:10:01 - vance: "can you give us any override codes for the door ma'am?"
21:10:34 - vance: "I'll be you marines have all sorts of tricks for getting into ships, yes?"
21:11:26 - Methuslah: "I was a scout - I never served on any ship of this type."
21:11:59 - Kraiger: Marine? Not me, I'm a ground-pounder....
21:13:57 - vance: "oh. great."
21:14:46 - vance: "maybe I should look at it then." vance starts examining the hatch.
21:15:28 - vance: (vance has jack-o-t 2 and electronics 2) 2D6: 6
21:15:44 - Methuslah: It looks like a standard system to you, a fairly basic security setup - you think you'll be able to remove it.
21:16:11 - Methuslah: It'll take a couple of rolls - a 5 or more to override the computer, a 5 or more to actually open the door.
21:16:47 - vance: 2D6: 11 2D6: 11
21:17:03 - vance: (rolling a bit uneven today)
21:17:54 - Methuslah: Wow! The system overrides easily, and with no alarm. The airlock opens, and you are able to enter.
21:18:13 - vance: (just testing the die rolling program here) 2D6: 6 2D6: 6 2D6: 6 2D6: 6 2D6: 6
21:18:28 - vance: (I believe there is a bug in this program)
21:18:30 - Kraiger: (If you roll twice on one line, the number is just repeated...)
21:19:03 - vance: (ah, I see)
21:19:13 - Kraiger: OK, lets head in - take it easy, no sudden moves! (Kraiger heads throught the airlock)
21:19:31 - vance: "piece of cake. now if we can just do as well with the guys who have guns ..."
21:20:21 - vance: "once in shall we drop our vacc suits and do the "walk around like we own the place" routine?"
21:21:27 - Kraiger: Worth a try - and Kits pretty good at that routine!
21:22:09 - Methuslah: With her arms out, she's going to need help getting out of her suit.,
21:22:57 - Kraiger: (OK, lets help Kit out)
21:22:59 - vance: (assuming we can do this in the airlock or just inside the hull) "hang on ma'am, we'll get you out."
21:24:35 - Methuslah: It's quite a squeeze, but you manage to pull her out. You are now in the airlock, your vacc suits off. Are you stowing them in the locker (bearing in mind that they are different from the Navy suits stored there.)
21:25:41 - Kraiger: I hat to say this, but I think we'd better stash our weapons here too (Kraiger locks down his PGMP and stores it with his suit)
21:26:11 - vance: "they'll be less conspicous in the locker than laying on the deck. agree about the weapons. wait, I'm being stupid ..."
21:26:36 - vance: (vance cycles his eye implant looking for a computer to tie into ..."
21:26:53 - Methuslah: OK. You've concealed your suits and heavy guns as best you can. Are you keeping anything?
21:27:13 - Methuslah: There are no computer terminals in the lock - security. Imperial captial ships only keep terminals in secure locations.
21:28:01 - vance: (the link has a short-range radio capability)
21:28:09 - vance: (if you allow)
21:28:12 - Kraiger: I keep my auto-snub pistol with me (Kraiger being without it would feel like he was walking aqround naked!)
21:29:07 - vance: (I think vance had a pistol at one point. if so then he'll keep it and a few pocket tools.)
21:29:42 - Methuslah: Not on Imperial capital ships - direct interface only, and thne only with security clearence.
21:30:30 - vance: (yeah, that's how I'd do it.)
21:30:30 - Methuslah: You can conceal the weapons if you want.
21:30:53 - vance: (he has no hard-link capability)
21:31:40 - vance: "we should wash up and clean up as much as possible."
21:33:19 - Methuslah: There is a 'fresher just down the corridor.
21:35:35 - vance: (any red lights flashing or alarms sounding announcing our entry?)
21:37:25 - Methuslah: Nothing that you can see - although often such alarms are rather more subtle.
21:41:45 - vance: (are there any clothes or uniforms, by the lock or the fresher, that we can switch into? vance's coveralls are probably quite conspicuous on a command deck.)
21:42:53 - Methuslah: There are a few sets on I.N. uniforms available - but all for high ranks - Lt. Cmdr. or higher. Both haev nametages.
21:45:40 - vance: (kraiger still here?)
21:45:44 - Kraiger: I think we're better off in civies - they tend to shoot spies around here!
21:46:14 - Kraiger: test
21:46:31 - vance: (see you)
21:46:53 - Methuslah: (See you)
21:46:56 - vance: "you're the military type. ma'am, what's the plan?"
21:47:37 - vance: (vance will comb his hair and try to look presentable)
21:48:03 - Methuslah: "I was a Scout, Vance. I never even saw a ship of this class - never really liked these stiff-necked officers. No offence, Kraiger - you're different."
21:48:35 - Kraiger just entered this channel
21:49:30 - Kraiger: To be honest, the "bluff our way through" tactic sounds best to me. Just walk up to the first guard we see, and demand to be taken to the admiral...
21:50:07 - vance: (I served on a carrier. most bulkheads had little maps on the wall showing where you were.) vance looks for maps of the area.
21:51:54 - vance: "maybe we should try the 'take us to your leader' routine last. any group of three people here who don't know where they are is bound to attract a lot of attention."
21:51:55 - Methuslah: There is a small deckchart not to much further down. It shows the admiral's cabin as on a sub-deck, down the corridor and to the right.
21:52:11 - Kraiger: Well, lets try - this way... (Kraiger starts off in a likely looking direction)
21:52:39 - vance: "hang on, check this out."
21:53:09 - Methuslah: You can see a pair of guards at the end of the corridor, heading your way.
21:54:34 - vance: ("I could say I'm a repair tech trying to find the admiral's cabin to fix something ...")
21:55:05 - vance: ("or we could move away right now. I opt for moving.")
21:56:18 - Kraiger: Lets head for the Admirals cabin - casually...
21:57:11 - vance: "let's go." (unless kit objects.)
21:58:40 - Methuslah: The two guards will meet you at the intersection - what will you say to them?
22:00:05 - vance: (oh, I thought we were heading in the opposite direction. perhaps we can hide back in the fresher.)
22:00:23 - Kraiger: (Kraiger gets out his imperial passport) Just nod to them and keep walking like we know exactly where we're going.
22:01:01 - vance: (ick) vance follows his lead.
22:01:16 - Methuslah: "Excuse me, sir! Can I help you? Your ID seems to indicate as retired, and I have no notification of your presence on the command deck."
22:02:26 - Kraiger: Yes, we have been told to meet the Admiral at his cabin - these ships are mighty confusing - would you be so kind as to show us the way?
22:03:18 - Methuslah: "Can you explain the ID, sir?"
22:03:58 - vance: vance tries to look techish.
22:04:29 - Kraiger: Yes, I am retired from the military, and currently woking on assignment with (dang - can't remember the name of the bunch we were working for...). We are on a vital security mission.
22:05:35 - Methuslah: "Sir, I will need specifics. I have a Top Security rating, so I am clear for all information. At least an outline."
22:06:34 - Kraiger: I'm sorry then, (smiles), I'll also have to ask to see _your_ papers..
22:06:43 - vance: vance glances at kit.
22:07:37 - Methuslah: He pulls out an ID, identifing him as Captain Travers, Imperial Intelligence (Security).
22:08:34 - Kraiger: (Arg, my minds a seive today - why do I recognise that name?)
22:09:18 - Kraiger: (Is this guy on our "list"?)
22:09:31 - Methuslah: (I picked it randomly - there is no previous note in the game. This guy is Imperial Security, legit.)
22:11:18 - Methuslah just entered this channel
22:11:18 - Kraiger: (Glancing around) Pleased to meet you Captain (brief introductions). We have grave news. The Zhodani have declared wae on the Imperium! Whats more, we have evidence of several spys within imperial forces... highly placed spies! It is imperative that we talk with the Admiral immediately - the Admiral, and _no one_ else.
22:12:26 - Methuslah: "Sir, if true I would take you to the Admiral myself. Have you any proof?"
22:14:45 - Kraiger: We have much proof, but only in data chip form... (pauses for a moment). We also have this "list" of suspected Zhodani sympathisers. It is difficult to believe, but if you take a look, I think you will be very surprised...
22:16:23 - Methuslah: I have a terminal in my office. Come with me.
22:16:53 - Methuslah: He leads you down into a door a little way down the corridor - and it opens up to reveal his office, dominated by a secure acess data terminal.
22:17:34 - vance: vance trails along, looking a little confused.
22:18:12 - Kraiger: (Two guards, right? Kraiger is ready incase this is a trap...)
22:18:58 - vance: vance tries to be ready for any trap as well, thinking "this guy is way too credulous."
22:19:03 - Methuslah: He moves in, and accesses the terminal. He holds a hand out.
22:19:11 - Methuslah: "Pass me a chip, Colonel."
22:19:39 - Kraiger: (Meth, exactly what chips do we have?)
22:20:26 - Kraiger: Captain, this information is vital to the security of the empire - if its OK with you, we will perform the data access...
22:21:29 - Methuslah: You have a collection of recordings of data from Trane, various bitz on the Zhodani, and the intelligence files you picked up.
22:21:46 - Methuslah: "We'll both access it, Colonel. I confess I don't entirely trust this."
22:22:36 - Kraiger: (Several different chips, right?) Kit, why don't you help the Captain with accessing one of the chips
22:22:46 - Kraiger: (Can we dump a copy at the same time?)
22:23:14 - Methuslah: "Sure. Let me, Captain."
22:23:51 - Methuslah: She pushs in a datachip, a record by the commander of the Lightning class Carrier. he runs through for about ten minutes, then stops. The Captain sits back in his chair, shaken.
22:24:12 - Methuslah: "We went through the Academy together. God help us. Quick - let's get to the Admiral!"
22:24:34 - Methuslah: He reaches up to open the door, but it fails to respond to his signal.
22:25:19 - Kraiger: Captain Lagtree is also a spy - I don't like the looks of this.
22:25:39 - Kraiger: (Retrieve th chip quickly)
22:26:22 - Methuslah: "Lagtree - that actually explains a lot. Togsten, would you try the door?"
22:26:27 - vance: "captain travers, I'm an electrician. shall I try to open the door?"
22:26:34 - Methuslah: "Sorry sir, I can do that. I haev my orders too."
22:26:39 - Methuslah: And he raises his gun to cover you.
22:26:52 - Methuslah: (Vance, you need to go now, right? I've set this up as a cliffhanger.)
22:27:22 - vance: (now's a good time, yes. good cliffhanger.)
22:27:57 - Kraiger: Nice one!
22:28:02 - Methuslah: Right. Good game guys!
22:28:36 - Kraiger: Excellent! See you next week. Kit, hope you're feeling better...
