Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log October 12th -

19:55:01 - vance: (good day. shall we begin?)
19:55:18 - Kit: fine with me
19:55:47 - Kit: as far as i recall, the last status quo of our characters was
19:56:11 - vance: (yep, we was snoozin')
19:56:36 - Methuslah: I guess so! As I recall, your characters had all blacked out, with the course set for the Imperial fleet. You slowly come too, realizing that your engines have stopped. The computers indicate that your course has been executed, and indeed your sensors can pick up several ships in the vicinty. They also detct the white light to your rear - still closing at the same speed.
19:57:53 - Kit: opening comm channels (in addition to the ingoing broadcast) : Calling imperial fleet, mayday
19:58:13 - vance: "ma'am, can you contact these people and tell them to get this psychic light off of us?"
19:58:35 - Kit: ill try, I hope they reply
19:58:53 - vance: "I'll check the fighter pilot." how is he?
19:59:38 - Methuslah: No response on communications, but sensors pick up a small object incoming.
19:59:49 - Methuslah: The pilot appears stable, but he is nto well. He needs urgent medical attention.
20:00:15 - Kit: what kind of object? A Ship?
20:00:34 - vance: vance stabilizes the fighter pilot as best he can. "ma'am, this guy needs a doctor and a hospital soon."
20:01:03 - Kit: Vance, can you take over communication and hail the fleet, I would like to take a look at the pilot?
20:01:33 - vance: "maybe the psychic light is still homing in on our electromagnetic signals. maybe we should shut down, once we confirm someone is coming to get us."
20:01:46 - vance: "yes."
20:02:38 - vance: (is a vessel approaching us?)
20:02:44 - Kit: good. keep sending out message and call for help until we get some kind of reply. (I unstrap and go to check on the pilot to see if I can do anything for him)
20:03:41 - vance: "they may know what these things are now, and they may not want to answer us."
20:04:46 - Kit: then check the sensors for any other sign and any approaching vessels.
20:05:17 - Kit: (I'll check the pilot and do what O can for him 2D6: 3)
20:05:30 - vance: "yes, checking." (is a vessel approaching us?)
20:05:33 - Kit: uhh, not good!
20:05:34 - Methuslah: Still no reply to your hails. THe approaching object is certainly under power, but something is interefering with your sensor readings. There is no sign of any vessels other than thsoe of the fleet.
20:06:23 - Methuslah: You managed to interfere with his medication - his condition is starting to deteroirate.
20:06:36 - vance: "the reading from the approaching object is poor. I'll bet it's a screen against these light things. shall I power down?"
20:07:23 - Kit: I try to undo whatever I maneged to mess up and stabilize him. 2D6: 10
20:07:32 - vance: (wait, I misunderstood. the approaching object is the light that has followed us from the planet?)
20:08:06 - Methuslah: Two approaching objects - one from the fleet, one from the planet.
20:08:20 - Methuslah: You manage to stabilie him, but he is still in a bad way.
20:08:41 - Kit: that one from the planet should be several hours away, unless it sped up.
20:09:39 - Kit: Vance, don't forget to mention to them that their pilot is in dire need of medical attention. Can you identify the approaching object yet?
20:10:53 - vance: "no, sensor readings are poor, cause unknown. can we throw another decoy out the airlock?"
20:11:14 - Methuslah: STill no reply. The object from the fleet is now on an intercept course- docking in eight minutes. The arrow from the planet will arrive in a little under two hours.
20:11:29 - vance: "fleet, vessel in distress. the pilot you sent earlier is injured and requires immediate care."
20:11:57 - Kit: vance, better suit up and get ready to grab whatever stuff you have. Kraiger, you too.
20:12:26 - Kit: I make sure the pilot is suited up as well.
20:13:25 - Methuslah: You are all ready in plenty of time. For just looking out of the viewscreen, you can tell the object is a standard shuttle, on final approach. Appears to be well piloted.
20:14:22 - Kit: I'll grab my bag and prepare for docking.
20:14:36 - vance: "great. maybe after we transfer over we can send this craft away as a decoy itself, and watch what happens when the light touches it."
20:14:43 - Methuslah: The shuttle lays off the bow, and you can hear an incoming communication.
20:14:55 - Methuslah: "JEttison the fighter, so that we can dock."
20:15:21 - Kit: that might be an option. It all depends on which craft the light follows. This little shuttle doesn't have much power left though.
20:16:02 - Kit: Ill pull the pilot out of his seat and into our shuttle, then jettison the fighter so that the airlock is free.
20:16:41 - vance: "roger, stand by." vance is still suited up. "everyone ready?"
20:16:59 - Kit: comm: Preparing to jettison i 3-2-1 now.
20:17:30 - Kit: Injured man is aboard the shuttle (insert id number), 4 people total
20:17:47 - Methuslah: The airlock closes, and the fighter gently drifts away. You hear a loud noise, and the airlock opens. A pair of men wearing decontamination suits step in and look around. One of them appears to be speaking into a communnicatior, but you cannot hear him through the suit. The other picks up the wounded pilot, and takes him into the shuttle.
20:19:16 - vance: vance waves hello.
20:19:38 - Methuslah: One of them touches a button on his helmet, and a speaker activates.
20:19:39 - Kit: I try to signal to them that I cannot hear what they say, and which comm channel i have open.
20:19:54 - Methuslah: "Do the rest of you require medical attention?"
20:20:20 - vance: "no, though we could use a nap and a bath."
20:20:42 - Kit: No, we are not injured, just tired. But I would recommend a medical check for the possibility of contamination. Did you receive our data?
20:21:56 - Methuslah: "You'll have to take that up with the Admiral. You'd better come with us. This shuttle is to be destroyed."
20:22:23 - Kit: Also I need to speak with the admiral as soon as possible.
20:22:30 - vance: "can we transfer any gear freely, or is it contaminated as well?"
20:23:14 - Kit: hard to say. I'd say leave everything taht can be replaced easily.
20:25:00 - Methuslah: "Anything you can carry - it will be placed with you in quarantine."
20:25:27 - Methuslah: "And hurry - the Intrepid will be firing on thsi shuttle in fifteen minutes."
20:25:45 - Kit: ok (I grab my bag) I'm ready.
20:26:06 - vance: vance grabs what little gear he has. "right behind you."
20:27:23 - Methuslah: The pilots head forward into the cockpit, and seal it off. The warning sings read 'Vacuum' thoroughout the passenger compartment.
20:27:50 - Methuslah: You disengage, and see the shuttle set to spinning. You are on a slow, steady course towards the largest ship.
20:28:03 - vance: vance remembers his metal sample from the lab, and tosses it back into the shuttle.
20:28:04 - Kit: I'll settle down in a seat and strap in.
20:29:57 - Kit: I hope they have coffe in quarantine.
20:30:19 - Methuslah: After a few minutes, you see a series of bright white flashes discharging from the ship's gun turrets, and the shuttle explodes in a silent flash.
20:31:01 - vance: "good boat, should have named it." vance settles into a catnap.
20:31:23 - Kit: There goes another faithful friend. (sigh)
20:33:30 - Methuslah: The shuttle begins to smoothly glide into one of the many docks along the side of the dreadnaught. The airlock hisses oepn, and you see an empty shuttle bay, with 'QUARANTINE' written on the walls.
20:33:40 - Methuslah: "Disembark, with your supplies."
20:34:11 - vance: vance steps out and waits further instructions.
20:34:28 - Kit: OK, I disembark.
20:34:43 - Kit: Nice decoration.
20:36:10 - Methuslah: As son as you are safely away, the shuttlecraft gently glides out, and the hangar door seals. Along the far wall, you can see several crates of supplies, along with some bunks and other necessary equipment. The bay is pressurizing.
20:36:55 - vance: vance looks around. anything else of note?
20:37:04 - Kit: Hmm, I wonder if they have a coffee machine.
20:37:49 - Kit: Checking around for a comm panel.
20:39:38 - Methuslah: As the bay fills with air, you can hear the faint sound of a man's voice - too quite to make out yet.
20:40:18 - Methuslah: Much of the standard equipment has been stripped out of the bay - no refuelling or quick launch facilities. It seems to have simply been equipped to hold quarnatiend personnel.
20:41:06 - Kit: Fine with me for now. I try to make out whatever is being said and try to find the comm panel
20:41:54 - vance: vance looks at the supplies. "hey, great. maybe a day or two to sleep."
20:42:00 - Methuslah: The bay is no wfully presuriz\ed, but you still cannot hear through your suit.
20:42:32 - Kit: I guess, if the pressure and air is ok, I'll take off my helmet.
20:43:46 - vance: same.
20:43:59 - Methuslah: "...tension. Attension. You are now in sealed quarantine. All necessary supplies for seven days have been provided. Captain Lagtree will contact you shortly for debrifing."
20:44:04 - Methuslah: The message repeats."
20:44:55 - Kit: OK, I do nor know if you can hear me, but we have understood the message. We will await further contact.
20:44:59 - vance: "ok, we hear. seven days, captain will debrief."
20:45:11 - Kit: I start to rummage through the supplies for coffee.
20:45:12 - vance: "can you hear us?"
20:47:02 - Methuslah: There is no reply. Kit, you find a thermos containig coffee amoung th supplies.
20:48:11 - Kit: Great, the future is looking bright again. I pur myself a good, big cup, find a place to sit down and relax with an autible sigh.
20:48:59 - Kit: Ahhh (stretching) finally some good medicine for my old bones.
20:49:16 - vance: "ma'am, kraiger has someone's personal diary from polebase, as I recall. it should go with the data you obtained from the polebase lab."
20:49:47 - Methuslah: You are sitting and waiting for what seems like hours, with no sign of anyone.
20:49:53 - vance: "assuming, of course, that it can tell these people anything they don't already know."
20:50:13 - vance: vance cleans up, and sleeps.
20:51:15 - Methuslah: Finally, you hear a new voice over the intecom.
20:51:21 - Kit: I use the time to fill out the holes in the report and prepare it with the complete data from the log and the lab.
20:51:24 - Methuslah: "Hello in there. Can you hear me?"
20:51:44 - Kit: Yup, reception is fine.
20:52:36 - vance: " ... urp ... uh ... yeah ... just a minute."
20:52:42 - Kit: I have a full report on what we know about the situation on the planet. Most of this was send out via comm form the shuttle. Do you have any use for it?
20:54:23 - Methuslah: "Thank you - it would be welcome. Find a sample box from the medical kit, and place the reports in it - we'll need to keep it in quantine. For now, we'd like a direct analysis - what is going on on the planet?"
20:55:06 - Kit: I have no Idea, though I have a few suggestions which are in my report. Can I send the data to you somehow?
20:56:25 - vance: "first, before we forget again, there are about twenty soldiers left on the planet at milbase."
20:57:32 - Kit: It does seem, that some kind of energy based lifeform or technology controlled by intelligence has attacked or come into contact with the planet.
20:58:15 - Methuslah: "There are men alive down there? Amazing!"
20:58:33 - Kit: It's appearance seems to coincide with a spreading corrosion that may be airborne.
20:59:16 - Kit: Well there were some left when we left (checks watch) X hours ago. I have no idea, what happened to them. There are also quite a few missing persons.
20:59:50 - Kit: And people touched by the lights seem to have fallen into a kind of death like stasis.
21:00:22 - Kit: As I said, the full report might give you a better overview. Where can i transfer the data?
21:01:13 - Kit: Also I need to speak with tha Admiral in an urgent matter which is unrelated to the situation on the planet. We Have come straight from Trane to deliver this message.
21:01:48 - vance: "excuse me, kit, who are we talking to?"
21:02:33 - Methuslah: "I fear the Admiral is busy, my dear, but I will pass the information on to him."
21:02:52 - Kit: (shruggs) Mr. Anonymus I assume, since he didn't introduce himself. But it might be Captain Lagtree.
21:03:38 - Kit: The Information can only be delivered personally. It is at least partially top secret.
21:03:54 - vance: "hope I'm not being paranoid, but is this an imperial vessel?"
21:04:04 - Kit: But Mr, Voice, It would be really nice to know who we are talking to.
21:04:10 - vance: (quietly)
21:04:22 - Methuslah: "I have top secret clearance, my dear. I am Captain Lagtree, head of Medicla."
21:04:58 - Kit: (Meth, was this name anywhere on the suspicions list we have found?)
21:09:56 - Methuslah just entered this channel
21:10:12 - Methuslah: (Sorry about that - got thrown out.)
21:10:22 - Methuslah: (Yes, it is.)
21:10:42 - vance: (mine went loopy for a minute, too)\
21:11:00 - vance: "kit?"
21:12:51 - Kit: Nice to meet you Captain Lagtree. As you may have learned from some of our communication, The zhodani have declared War on the Empire and attacked at Trane. I have some specific data about the battle and a possible alliance between some criminal elements on Trane and the invasion force.
21:13:43 - Kit: The Zhodanii Attack at trane was repelled and quite a few prisoners were taken, among them the commander of the attacking fleet.
21:13:45 - Methuslah: "War? You cannot be serious, my dear."
21:14:31 - vance: while listening, vance will glance around carefully at the bay, looking at everything.
21:15:03 - Kit: Captain, with all due respect, I am Baroness Dr. Messalina Kitiara of Regina, "my Dear" is hardly an appropriate adress. As for the War, I would definitely not joke about such serious matters.
21:15:54 - Kit: We have come here mainly to talk to the Admiral about this matter, And I would dearly like to meet him as soon as possible.
21:16:15 - Methuslah: "As I said, the Admiral is busy. Rest assured I shall pass on whatever I feel is important."
21:16:53 - vance: (are there any ways out of here? including non-standard ones.)
21:17:06 - Kit: Please do relate to the Admiral my urgent request to speak to him personally.
21:19:08 - Kit: As for the matter on the planet. Can you make any use of my data, and can you tell us a bit more about what is happening here? A member of my team is missing on the planet, and I would like to know what happened to him and if there is any chance to recover him.
21:19:27 - Methuslah: (The airlock is the obvious way - the controls have been disabled, but could be fixed. There are no ventilation ducts, and the other exits have been sealed.)
21:19:43 - Methuslah: "I'm sure we will send a team to investigate at some point, my dear."
21:20:35 - vance: vance gets some food, and while eating looks around for any tools.
21:20:57 - Kit: Captain, That answer is not what I expected, and I still object to being adressed as "my dear" from someone who is a stranger to me.
21:21:45 - Kit: Did you manage to get the light that was following us from the planet off our track? And what about the pilot who picked us up? Any news about his situation?
21:22:45 - Kit: (looking around the bay, any sign of cameras or other surveillance equipment?)
21:24:20 - Methuslah: There are a selection of tools in the maintainance locker, and there is also some specialized surgical equipment in the medikit that might be useful. IT wil be improvised, but you can put together a toolkit.)
21:25:07 - Methuslah: You see no cameras, but that does not necesarily mean anything.
21:26:39 - vance: "sir, why exactly are we in quarrantine for a week? are we to be examined at all?"
21:26:52 - Methuslah: "Our sensors do not detect any 'light'."
21:27:24 - Kit: It registered on our sensors as (insert whatever the sensors said).
21:28:29 - Kit: To the bare eye it looked like an arrow made up of light. When we rendezvoued with you, it was still x hours away, haedaing fro as at a speed of (insert values).
21:29:18 - Methuslah: "Well, my dear, it doesn't register on ours. 'Arows of light' indeed."
21:30:16 - Kit: I have the data from our scans in my report. You can check it yourselves. And I must insist on your refraining from adressing me as my dear again! (starting to sound angry)
21:31:04 - vance: vance turns to kit. "maybe ... we just imagined it?" said quietly, but loud enough to be overheard.
21:32:17 - vance: "kit, maybe you should get some sleep." "sir, will be be examined at all?"
21:32:21 - Kit: Vance, the Pilot from the Fighter saw it too. These whole lights may be psychic, so an element of "imagination" may be possible. But several people the same thing? And what about the scanner logs. Scanners don't "imagine" anything.
21:34:12 - Kit: (mumble) Some sleep sounds like agood idea, but I want to know what the captain knows about the situation on the planet and what about the status of the injured pilot?
21:34:16 - Methuslah: "AT some point."
21:35:55 - vance: vance looks serious. "kit, we were all very tired. I think you need some rest." he looks her in the eye. "really." his eye twitches in a wink.
21:36:18 - Kit: Captain, I need to deliver my message. I can't do it here, Mr Vance is not cleared for that kind of information. Also Mr. Kariger and I need to continue on our mission. Can you provide us with a means of Transport to either trane or Cyan?
21:37:02 - Methuslah: "I'm sorry, not at this time. It's been interesting talking to you. Someone will be with you...by the day after tomorrow."
21:37:13 - Kit: (giving a silent nod to Vance) Please captain, this is serious.
21:37:52 - vance: vance sits aside, eating.
21:38:30 - Methuslah: There is no reply.
21:39:13 - Kit: Two days!? Are you out of your mind! Oh, dammned. Go to Hell for all I care. (kicks at something) then sits down and grabs her coffee. (muttering) traitorous bastard.
21:39:32 - vance: (is there anything here that would allow a written note?)
21:40:17 - Kit: (the small computer Kit is carrying in her pocket, and which she is just placing coincidentally next to her)
21:40:56 - vance: vance offers the baronness some food, while leaning over the comp.
21:41:10 - Kit: (the display says: This captain is a suspected traitor to the empire. From our small chat I'd say the suspicion must be assumed true. Suggestions?
21:42:58 - vance: ("break out of this bay, sabotage the ship, steal a jump-courier, and make a gallant escape?")
21:43:00 - Kit: If they have to hole us up in here, they could have at least provided some decent food.
21:44:01 - vance: "well, I could look forward to seven days of sleep." ("we have some tools, and the bay hatch lockout might be bypassable.")
21:44:31 - Kit: (I have to contact the Admiral. I have some data that he must receive, about this traitor among other things. The sooner the better. How far are you willing to go for the Empire? This is, after all, not your kind of job?)
21:45:40 - vance: ("heck, I don't even know you're a baronness.")
21:45:56 - vance: ("I'm with you. ")
21:46:08 - Kit: (we could probably break out here, but if we are noticed and attacked, we might endanger innocent people who are just doing their job.
21:46:35 - vance: ("one of the hazards of feudalism.")
21:48:13 - Kit: (I'd prefer to endanger as few people as possible. And we do need some rest and food) Pass me that jerky please
21:48:50 - vance: ("'course, that assumes we do get out. I'll bet our little cage here is jury-rigged."
21:50:07 - vance: "sure. and try the dried carrots." ("agreed, cause as little damage as possible. you really should sleep for a few hours at least, not not longer. we don't know how long we have.")
21:50:23 - Kit: (most likely, We should take the time to check thoroughly) Well, since this freakin Captain is insisting on keeping us incommunicato for two days, we might as well use the time to get some rest.
21:51:50 - Kit: Say Vance, have you met henry? (taking the robotic cat out of my bag, activating him and setting him into "playful kitten" mode. His activity might distract any surveillance)
21:52:08 - Methuslah: As your characters are about to turn in, I suggest we call a halt there for the day.
21:52:34 - vance: (ok.)
21:53:10 - vance: (good game, ref.)
21:53:15 - Kit: Ok, fine with me (though I'm eager to know how the story continues, I thought I had left court intrigues behind. Ah well, they always catch up)
21:54:15 - Methuslah: I'm looking forward to continuing as well, but the next section of play will probably take up a session of its own.
21:54:52 - vance: (no doubt. I look forward to it.)
21:54:58 - Kit: I can live with it. At least I'll get to bed somewhat early tonight.
21:55:22 - Methuslah: (Thanks, Vance! Good to get another session in.)
21:56:03 - vance: (yep. will kraiger be back next week? he won't want to miss this.)
21:57:25 - Methuslah: I hope so - I think this was the last week of his session. I suspect you'll have a use for his firepower!
21:57:50 - Kit: Will he ever be glad to hear that!
21:58:10 - Kit:
