Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log March 9th 2003
20:37:34 - Kit: Say, what was the type of the ship we are currently on again?
20:38:24 - Methuslah: The Azhanti High Lightning, the 'class' ship - a fighter carrier.
20:39:40 - Kit: Is it in "Fighting Ships"?
20:41:01 - Methuslah: Afraid not - it had it's own supplement, and board game - I got them in the Reprints.
20:42:12 - Kit: Supplement 5 lightning class cruisers?
20:43:21 - Methuslah: That's the one.
20:44:04 - Kit: OK, got that one (I borrowed some reprints) That is one big ship.
20:51:20 - Methuslah: Those reprints are wonderful, aren't they. Which ones have you got?
20:52:16 - Kit: It's called Supplements 1-13 The Classic Supplements by Far Future Enterprises.
20:53:01 - Kit: Too bad it's only borrowed, but I'm seriously considering getting onw myself.
20:54:33 - Methuslah: That's a good one. I've been getting them as they came out. I just got a hold of the latest one - Aliens Reprints 1 - 4. They really are well worth the money.
20:54:55 - Methuslah: Though I wish they'd keep to their release dates.
20:57:24 - Kit: On the point of date. What about our missing player?
20:58:13 - Methuslah: Shall we get started? He can always jump in later on, as can the new guy if he shows up.
20:58:48 - Kit: I'm all for starting. I aint getting more awake by waiting
20:59:15 - Methuslah: OK. You have just been awakened with the news that Trane Orbital has been recaptured. Apparently, only a token force of Zhodani had been left on board. Reports are coming in of some fighting by partisans on the surface of Trane, but nothing the local militia cannot handle, now that there are no Zhodani to cope with.
21:00:05 - Kit: Now that's good news for a change. Now we can go and pick up Henry.
21:00:24 - Kraiger: OK! Kit, do you want to stop by and pick up Henry, or you trust the Marines to bring him back?
21:01:16 - Kit: I wouldn't mind another ride in the Sliver. But have we decided what to do next at all?
21:02:39 - Kraiger: Yeah, I'd like to drop by and make sure I get all my stuff. Next, I think we were going to hop the X-boat, and continue to Berengaria...
21:03:32 - Kit: Via a short stop at Romar to report and send out several messages, If I recall correctly.
21:04:27 - Kit: First I'd like to check how The Kid and Silvaa are. I'd like to take Silvaa along to Romar so that we can arrange something for him.
21:04:46 - Kit: And the Kid may want to go back to Trane station too.
21:05:43 - Methuslah: The Kid and Silvaa are both unconscious, according to the medical section. Both will certainly recover, but the doctor recommends another day's rest, to monitor their condition.
21:06:58 - Kit: OK, then we'll leave them in the doctors care for now and maybe pick them up on the way back. Someone (the Kid) has to take the sliver back to the station from the minder afetr all.
21:07:03 - Kraiger: How about the station commander?
21:07:47 - Kit: He'll be unconcious for several weeks at least. He is badly roughed up.
21:08:40 - Methuslah: Rather the worse for wear. They've put him in medical coma, and suggest that he'll need to stay out for at least a week, possibly longer. His prognosis is also excellent, however.
21:08:56 - Kit: Dpo we know the state of the medical facilities on the Trane orbital?
21:08:58 - Methuslah: Even when conscious, he will be too weak to move for a considerable time.
21:09:39 - Kit: Well I#m certainly glad I managed to keep him alive throughout that rough ride from Trane.
21:10:14 - Kit: And even though I'm eager to ask him some questions, I guess they'll have to wait.
21:13:12 - Kit: So Kraiger, what about a short round-trip to pick up our luggage?
21:13:57 - Kraiger: OK, sounds good.
21:14:39 - Kit: Goo, let's go. (I head for the Sliver and give him a short checkup for serious damage)
21:15:55 - Methuslah: Aside from the computer malfunction you caused, and the small leak, the ship is in reasonable shape.
21:16:22 - Kit: Fine. Since those two problems have already been fixed, we can set off.
21:17:35 - Methuslah: Are you flying the ship yourself, or do you want a pilot?
21:17:59 - Kit: Do you seriously have to ask?
21:18:22 - Kit: I've grown quite fond of the silver sliver.
21:19:04 - Methuslah: Just checking. YOu can launch when ready - but you'll need a piloting roll - automatic launching systems are non-operation. Only a 4 or above, thoguh.
21:19:23 - Kit: 2D6: 10
21:19:48 - Kit: I flew this baby into this thight garage, I'm gonna get her out again as well.
21:21:08 - Methuslah: You fly a perfect launch, using the bare minimum of thrust to kick your ship in the correct trajectory. Are you in a hurry this time, or will you fly her are the recommended cruising acceleration?
21:21:42 - Kit: Plotting a course for Trane orbital. Keeping it easy on the Gs. We ai'nt in too much of a hurry, so we can just relax.
21:22:51 - Kit: And keep a look out for more zhodani mines ans similar junk littering the spacelanes
21:23:35 - Methuslah: For once, the trip to the station is uneventful, and a few hours later the three of you are approaching Trane Orbital Station. From the outside, it looks the same as when you first saw it, but there are some obvious differences - many of the lighting systems are aout of order, and you are coming in on full manual control.
21:24:21 - Kit: Looks like there is soemthing to fix here as well.
21:24:58 - Kraiger: I still have my Laser rifle ready and to hand (and of course, have the PGMP with me on the Silver...)
21:25:19 - Kit: Kraiger, get on the comm and ask for docking permission.
21:27:09 - Kraiger: "Trane orbital, this is the Silver, requesting permission to land"
21:28:52 - Methuslah: "This is Trane Orbital, Sergeant Medas here. That you, Colonel?
21:30:20 - Kraiger: Sure is Sergeant - took a little longer to get back than we hoped!
21:33:26 - Methuslah: "No problem, sir! Come in to Bay 1. I'll have an honour guard waiting to escort you to control."
21:34:04 - Kit: Somehow that sounds as if "just picking up our luggage" may take longer than we thought.
21:34:46 - Kit: (Heading for Bay 1) 2D6: 5 if you need a roll
21:35:03 - Kraiger: Ah well - pomp is something they're big on in these out of the way places...
21:35:37 - Kit: Believe me, that is NOT just a specialty in out-of-the way places.
21:37:22 - Methuslah: The ship glides smoothly into the selected bay. You notice that there is a considerable amount of damage to the bay, scorch marks and signs of weapons fire. The doors close behind you, and the bay begins to pressurize.
21:38:13 - Kit: (powering down systems, preparing to leave the sliver)
21:38:43 - Kit: say, Kraiger, don't you want to hadle the pomp stuff and I'll just slip in and get our stuff?
21:40:11 - Methuslah: The pressurization indicator lights up, and ten marines in combat armour burst into the room, forming two lines on either side of the airlock.
21:40:57 - Kit: Oh drat.
21:41:26 - Kraiger: (to Kit) - hey, you're the baroness! But sure, I'll take care of it...
21:41:50 - Kit: Yeah, maybe, but that doesn't mean I like that kind of stuff.
21:42:07 - Kraiger: (I'll secure my weapons - except for my habitual sidearm - in the Silver, and follow the escort)
21:42:58 - Kit: (nevertheless Kit arranges her clothes as much as possible, then tries to inconspiciously drop behind and loose the escort, heading for her cabin.
21:44:30 - Methuslah: OK. Kraiger, you follow the escort all the way to control. Along the way, you notice numerous signs of fighting, and signs of combat damage. When you reach control, you find a harried Sergeant Medas sitting at the command desk, barking orders into a microphone.
21:44:51 - Methuslah: Kit, you manage to shake the escort and head down to your cabin. It is still just as you left it, with all your possessions intact.
21:45:07 - Kraiger: Hi Segeant - are you running this place now?
21:45:36 - Kit: Is Henry ok? Fully functional? (and probably bored adn grumpy after beeing neglected for so long)
21:46:35 - Methuslah: Seems to be fine.
21:47:56 - Kit: Good. I'll spend some time petting him and then start packing. Then I'll head for Kraigers and Stewards cabin adn collect their stuff as well, storing everything on the sliver.
21:48:05 - Methuslah: The Sergeant drops the mike and stands briskly to attention.
21:48:33 - Methuslah: "Sorry sir - I was distracted. All the officers were taken by the Zhodani, sir - missing or wounded. There isn't anyone else to run things, sir."
21:51:03 - Kraiger: At ease Sergeant - looks like you put up a pretty good fight here!
21:52:06 - Methuslah: "A lot of this was done while the Zho's were taking the station, sir. We just mopped up."
21:52:38 - Methuslah: Both Kraiger and Stewart's cabins are as yours, untouched.
21:54:05 - Kraiger: Very good - well, I guess you may be in charge here for quite a while... Now, we need to arange for the X-boat to take us to Berengaria - can you take care of that for us?
21:54:39 - Kit: Once I'm done packing our luggage in the sliver I'll see if I can find an open bar or shop to pick up soem bottles of beer. I still have a promise to keep to the surviving marines of team Henry.
21:55:19 - Methuslah: "I'll get a message off to the far station at once, sir. It'll be ready and waiting when you arrive. So you are leaving us?"
21:55:52 - Methuslah: The bars and stores on the concourse are all closed up, and locked down. The civilian levels are deserted.
21:55:59 - Kraiger: Yes, Trane looks pretty secure, but you can bet if the Zho came here, then they're invading other places too...
21:56:37 - Kit: OK, it's self service then. I'll do my best not to damage the lock.
21:57:06 - Methuslah: Make a roll.
21:57:15 - Kit: 2D6: 3
21:57:24 - Kit: Oops.
21:57:26 - Methuslah: You fail to break the lock.
21:57:58 - Kit: OK, the next bar/shop then.
21:58:40 - Methuslah: "Well, sir, I guess that is so. Is this war."
21:59:33 - Kraiger: I expect so Sergeant, I expect so...
22:00:36 - Methuslah: "Well, sir, I won't keep you. I'll get the signal off to the far station now."
22:00:47 - Methuslah: He picks up his microphone, and starts to speak.
22:01:42 - Methuslah: OK - make another roll, Kit.
22:01:50 - Kit: 2D6: 2
22:01:59 - Kit: aint getting better
22:02:12 - Kraiger: Thank you sergeant - good luck with things here (I'll head to my cabin to get my stuff ready to move)
22:02:39 - Kit: I guess I only do good work unter life threatening circumstances
22:03:28 - Methuslah: "Hold up sir! I'm getting an alarm from the concourse - someone is trying to break into the shops! Corporal Breton! Looters on the concourse. Get a squad down there!"
22:04:55 - Kraiger:
22:06:02 - Methuslah: "Sir? I would consider it an honour if you would accompany the squad."
22:06:17 - Kit: Dammned good locks on this station.
22:06:36 - Kraiger: Very well Sergeant (I'll follow the squad to the concourse...)
22:07:12 - Kit: I'll keep trying to get one of the shops open, probably cursing loudly by now.
22:07:30 - Methuslah: The elevator is packed with a group of eight marines. You burst onto the concourse to find a familiar figure busy working on the lock of one of the bars.
22:08:37 - Kit: (Kit looks up from her work as the marines burst in) Hey, any of you happen to have a lock for this?
22:08:39 - Kraiger: At ease men! Its a false alarm, one of our operatives doing a security check to ensure the Zhodani didn't leave any booby traps.
22:08:50 - Kit: A Key, for this Lock I mean.
22:08:59 - Kraiger: Return to your stations, I'll finish off the sweep here.
22:09:27 - Kraiger: (Whispers to Kit) hey Kit, they tend to shoot looters around here....
22:09:38 - Kit: Yeah, a central key for this deck would be appreciated.
22:10:05 - Kit: (sigh) I ain't no looter, I just want to buy a few bottels of beer.
22:10:30 - Methuslah: "Ah..no, ma'am. The civilians took their keys with them when we evacuated them."
22:11:27 - Kit: Dammned. (returns her attention to the lock) That is completely against safety regulations...
22:13:15 - Methuslah: "Well, er, they were kind of in a hurry, ma'am. What with guns going of everywhere and all."
22:13:49 - Kit: That doesn't make my job any easier.
22:14:29 - Kit: (tackling the lock again, growing increasingly frustrated and grumpy) 2D6: 8
22:15:23 - Methuslah: The door snaps up with a rattle, revealing a deserted bar.
22:16:06 - Kit: Here we go (making a big show of thoroughly scanning the bar, all the while looking for the beer storage)
22:16:45 - Methuslah: Several crates of beer appear to be stored under the bar.
22:17:16 - Kraiger: (grinning sheepishly at the troops) I'll check over here for booby traps Kit (*sigh*)
22:18:06 - Methuslah: The troops stand around, throughly puzzled.
22:18:30 - Kit: Once I have scanned the whole bar, i'll leave sufficient money plus tip and a short note that I took x bottles form the bar and take soem bottles. I'll lock up behind me again. 2D6: 9
22:19:16 - Methuslah: OK. You lock the door shut tight. How are you going to hide the bottles from the troops?
22:20:12 - Kit: I have no intention of hiding either the bottles or the fact that I left the money and note on the counter. Quite contrary, I make sure they notice both.
22:22:39 - Methuslah: "Are you finished, ma'am?"
22:23:11 - Kit: Yup, I think we can go now. All is clear.
22:24:07 - Kraiger: (*sigh* again), OK, lets get our things to the shuttle - the Sergeant is organising the X-boat for us.
22:27:03 - Kit: Good. Let's go. (Kit looks at the befuddled marines and a smile spreads across her face, as if she just remembered something)
22:28:07 - Kit: Don't sweat over it guys. You are in no danger of bein "kinskied" here.
22:33:32 - Kraiger just entered this channel
22:33:49 - Kraiger: (Sorry, computer crash..)
22:33:53 - Methuslah: The elevator takes you slowly to the cargo bay, leaving a group of bemused marines behind you.
22:34:23 - Kit: (Kit chuckles quietly to herself)
22:35:47 - Methuslah: You arrive back at the hangar deck within a few minutes. The sliver has been refuelled, and with your supplies onboard, you are ready to fly. Are you returning to the AHL, or going direct to the far station?
22:36:16 - Kraiger: (Where is Stewart?)
22:36:48 - Methuslah: With you, I've been assuming.
22:36:55 - Kit: Since I still plan to pick up Silvaa and someone to thake the Sliver back to the station once we are gone (the Kid preferable) we'll stop by the AHL
22:37:16 - Kit:
22:37:35 - Kit: Besides, I have an appointment with a group of marines to keep.
22:38:04 - Methuslah: The trip begins with what looks like a boring ride, but at about two hours away from the AHL, you notice a faint trace on your scanner.
22:38:39 - Kit: Say, Kraiger, can you wire ahead and arrange for the surviving members of Team henry to assemble for a debriefing session somewhere when we arive on the AHL?
22:39:03 - Kit: Now what's that again? Turning atantion to scanner.
22:39:19 - Kraiger: (I'll make arrangements for Kit's team)
22:39:36 - Kraiger: Whats up Kit? We got company?
22:39:45 - Methuslah: The communicator does not seem to be working - you are being jammed.
22:40:10 - Kit: Not again. Can I say anything about the trace?
22:41:21 - Methuslah: It's at extreme range. No detail yet, but using a standard fusion engine. You've actually picked it up at rather longer range than you might expect - so it has a high thrust factor.
22:41:56 - Kit: Can I determine it's vector or from where wqe are being jammed?
22:42:04 - Kraiger: Hmm, maybe I'll start uncrating my Combat Armour this time...
22:43:03 - Kit: Well it has been quiet too long.
22:43:11 - Methuslah: It seems to be on atrack following yours, directly. The jamming seems to coem from the contact.
22:43:16 - Methuslah: (A track)
22:43:35 - Kit: How fast is it going? Can we outrun it with the sliver?
22:43:54 - Kit: We got company following us.
22:45:09 - Kraiger: What direction is it coming from? The planet?
22:45:31 - Methuslah: It seems to be travelling slightly faster than you. The computer calculates that it would need 5G accleration to stop dead at the AHL.
22:45:37 - Methuslah: Directly behind you.
22:46:34 - Kit: If it's going at 5G we can outrun it. Should we try?
22:47:19 - Kit: Can I tell anything about the size of the ship?
22:47:35 - Kraiger: So, coming from the planet? I wonder if the Zho left any troops down at the ship wreck site...
22:48:05 - Kit: If they did, Why are they starting to follow us now?
22:50:09 - Methuslah: The ship appears to be smaller than your own, with a non-standard Imperial drive.
22:50:13 - Kraiger: Well, we were the last contact point for their commander...
22:50:36 - Kit: Assuming the same speed as now, when would they overtake us, and how long do we need to get to the AHL?
22:51:37 - Kit: Whatever it is, it certainly isn't very big. Just a shuttle of some kind, and a small one.
22:52:00 - Methuslah: You would be overtaken in 25 minutes, with 95 minutes to go before reaching the AHL.
22:52:18 - Kit: They must know that the rest of their troops have been defeated. Do they really think the commander is still aboard?
22:52:37 - Kraiger: Well, size isn't necessarily important - we are unarmed...
22:52:46 - Kit: So, Kraiger, do you want to wait for the rendezvous, or shall we make a run for it?
22:55:47 - Kraiger: Well, we could speed up a bit, to take us past the AHL - at least move the meeting point closer incase this bogey comes in firing...
22:56:59 - Kit: Ok. I'll put my foot down on the gas pedal, so to say, and up the Acceleration.
22:57:45 - Methuslah: OK. You crank the acceleration up to6g, and the blip falls behind, rapidly going off the scanner screen.
22:58:14 - Kit: Are we still being jammed?
22:58:50 - Kit: It would help, if we can outrun their jamming range.
22:59:19 - Kit: (btw I'm getting really tired around here, can we slowly come to a cliffhanger?)
23:00:02 - Methuslah: The jamming is beginning to crackle down, and you can begin to hear the faint souind of a voice coimng from the AHL.
23:00:10 - Methuslah: OK - that's all folks!
23:01:39 - Kit: OK. I may be a bit late next week. Don't let that slow you.
23:02:28 - Kraiger: Thanks all! See you next week...
23:02:39 - Methuslah: OK. Have a good week, guys!
