Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log 09.02.2003
20:28:06 - Kit: I have a Basic plan suggestion for today: First we turn up the gravity to something around 4 to 6 on all the decks except those already "cleaned" and those holding wounded. That should slow our opponents while beeing relatively harmless to our people. Then We go over the ship deck by deck, turning up gravity, then having the marines (and a team of medics) go in afterwards, clean up, secure enemies and revive any of our people that got caught. As soon as we run into more marines, we can increase our team and our response time. As soon as we can reestablish better communication, we should be better able to coordinate these efforts. From where Kit is now, we can control the lifts as well, so we can transport our people quickly while slowing the enemy. Eventually we should be able to clean up most of the ship ship. Those areas that cannot be reached this way will need some hand cleaning, which I am sure, Kraiger and Steward are happy to provide . What do you think.
20:31:27 - Methuslah: That sounds like a good plan.
20:31:30 - Bailey: The 4 to 6 G range should just immobilize them. What about using a higher G level to render them unconscious?
20:32:05 - Kraiger: That sounds fine - I already have teams of marines heading to the two decks where we just knocked out Zho to secure them...
20:32:27 - Kit: Keeping them unconscious too long may be bad for their health. We'll just cranc up the g's to ko them immediately before the cleaning team is ready to go in.
20:33:02 - Bailey: Good plan.
20:33:41 - Kit: I already had to kill one person today, I don't want to risk any more lives.
20:36:55 - Methuslah: OK. You have already managed to secure three decks - the cargo bay at Deck Nine, Deck Eight, and Deck Seven, with the shuttle bays. Kit and Bailey, as I recall, were on Deck Six, in Environmental Control.
20:37:41 - Kraiger: Do we have comms to the emergency bridge still?
20:38:43 - Methuslah: You have no contact with the emergency bridge at all.
20:39:10 - Kit: I guess we'll just have to work our way up there one deck at a time.
20:39:46 - Kit: Maybe sometimes during our cleaning process we can locate whatever is jamming our comms and disable it.
20:39:56 - Kraiger: I think we had a hard-line that was cut, right. I'll send the same team again to follow the hardline and repair it...
20:41:48 - Methuslah: OK. You send the Ensign back up the grav shoots.
20:43:37 - Kit: Oh and as soon as the clean up crew works it's way up to deck six, we have two prisoners in Environmental to pick up as well.
20:45:45 - Methuslah: You know that you will be exposed to the gravity increase on Deck Six as well?
20:48:19 - Kit: Yes, But I'll have my hands on the controls and be prepared for it. Ans I should be used to varying G's. I'll keep the level on deck 6 to one that I can stand for a reasonable time. Now we will NOT cranc up the G's to 10 or so on deck six without further preparation.
20:49:07 - Methuslah: As long as you are prepared, then you should be alright.
20:50:06 - Bailey: Can we use the controls to create negative Gs, that is, going the opposite way?
20:50:20 - Kit: Meaning as soon as the cleanup crew is really ready to enter, I'll program the controls to up the G's just for a few seconds, prepare by doing some appropriate breathing exercises and taking a secure position. That should ko me for a limited time.
20:51:02 - Methuslah: You mean to make the ceiling the effective floor? Yes, certainly.
20:51:49 - Bailey: We then play "grav pong" with the Zho. 1 G up, then 1 G down. Repeat as necessary. If we're strapped in, we won't get hurt.
20:52:10 - Methuslah: You can do that, Kit.
20:52:15 - Kit: You want to play ping pong with the Zho? I don't like that idea. The risk of serious injury is too great.
20:53:30 - Bailey: It's safer for us, though.
20:54:15 - Bailey: A few Gs could send stuff flying through the air fairly quiclky. 1 G shouldn't be too bad for us, though. Usual falling speeds only.
20:54:26 - Kit: I think the tectic we are running now is safe enough for us.
20:55:43 - Kit: We can do that as a last ditch emergency measure, but otherwise I think we can do without endangering more lives.
21:00:26 - Bailey: Well, let's get to it.
21:01:27 - Methuslah: So you are increasing the G's on your deck.
21:02:21 - Bailey: After we're strapped in for safety, of course.
21:02:30 - Kit: Yes, but only to a level thet we (seatet and strapped in) can stand well. It should be sufficient to cripple anyone trying to assault us though.
21:03:42 - Kit: If I feel that either I or Bailey are in any danger to fall unconscious, I'll lower the G's again, always keeping my hands right at the controls.
21:04:21 - Kit: Bailey, man the comm and take care of coordinating our efforts with the rest of the crew.
21:05:20 - Bailey: Done. Kraiger, we're about to start incapacitating the Zho using increased gravity. Are you and your troops ready to move in and clean up?
21:05:49 - Methuslah: Most of your men are on Deck Seven.
21:07:53 - Kraiger: Standing by...
21:09:36 - Kit: Proceeding with plan as described below.
21:10:26 - Kit: Coffe ready on decks... (proceeding)
21:11:13 - Methuslah: You increase the gravity, and feel your bodies being crushed against the couches for a breif second. Then, the gravity systems cut out entirely, and null-grav is instituted.
21:11:51 - Kit: Dammned.
21:12:05 - Kit: So much for the plan.
21:12:25 - Kit: Can I locate the problem?
21:12:53 - Kit: I'm willing to bet it's the power again.
21:13:49 - Kit: (comm) coffe's gotten cold, Boiler probably broken. Coffe time delayed for unspecified length of time.
21:13:50 - Methuslah: Power failure. Seems to be the main fusion reactor on the engineering deck (Ten).
21:14:41 - Kit: Bailey, can you strap down out two guest so they won't hurt themselves or us by floating around? (points to two captured and one dead zho in environmental)
21:15:25 - Kit: Main fusion generator out. Kraiger. Can you send a team down there? Expect Zhodani messing with the machine.
21:15:26 - Bailey: If you insist...
21:16:17 - Kraiger: (Have I got any technicians with me, or just marines)
21:16:31 - Kit: Well, the other option is float-fighting against wide awake Zhodani. How far has your cleanup effort proceeded on deck 7?
21:17:22 - Methuslah: Just marines. Deck Seven is now under your control.
21:18:01 - Kraiger: (As soon as the hardlink to the bridge is open, I will request some technicians to come to the cargo bay, then send a party down to the reactors...)
21:18:20 - Kraiger: (Can I tell from the motion sensor how many Zho are left onboard?
21:18:26 - Kit: OK, in that case the path is pretty clear. Sounds like you need me at engineering (sigh).
21:19:05 - Methuslah: The hardlink should be up in about ten minutes.
21:19:10 - Kit: Say bailey, do you think you can handle the controls here alone until we get power back?
21:19:23 - Methuslah: You estimate maybe a hundred, most of them on Deck Ten.
21:19:23 - Bailey: I'll stay here, ready to execute the plan once the power is back up.
21:20:02 - Kit: OK. Well, Kraiger, I'm coming back down.
21:20:55 - Kit: 8I'll use the elevator shafts this time. Should be quicker, especially in zero-g, and there should be little zho resistance left on deck 6. (I hope)
21:21:27 - Methuslah: You arrive on Deck Nine with little problem.
21:21:44 - Methuslah: Gravity is off there, also - the problem seems to be shipwide.
21:22:04 - Kit: Hi Kraiger. Any plans on proceeding dwon to 10 yet?
21:23:25 - Kit: I hope the Zho have not ruined the power for good. Can I patch up one of the emergency generators to the system here to get at least some g fro the wounded. I assume floating around aint too healthy for them.
21:23:40 - Kraiger: We're still _way_ outnumbered - my Marines are just going to secure the existing perimiter for now - I can spae an escort to take you down to engineering if you like...
21:24:14 - Methuslah: The gravity generators take up a large portion of ship's power - even every auxiliary generator would be insufficient.
21:24:52 - Kit: Oh well, sounds like back to crawlspaces eh? (studying plans of level 10 and possible ways down to main generator)
21:26:05 - Kit: There basically are two options: the main power core broke or it was broken. In the latter case there WILL be zho wherever the problem is located. I will probably need an escort.
21:26:36 - Kit: Any volunteers. There's likely to be shooting ahead (deep sigh).
21:26:51 - Methuslah: The generator itself is in the center of the deck. The crawlspaces do not access that point, for security. There is only one entrance.
21:26:58 - Methuslah: Plenty of marines stand forward to volunteer.
21:28:01 - Kit: It looks like It's gonna be a tight squeeze through a narrow gap probably controlled by the zho. Mmmh.
21:28:47 - Kit: Maybe some counterfeit is on order. How many zho suits have we captured so far?
21:29:48 - Kit: And is there a way to improvise a comm jam on level 10 so the zho might just take our team for a group of their own with scrambled comms until we get close enough?
21:30:32 - Kraiger: Sorry Kit - I am dead against that sort of thing, especially in close quaters situations like these....
21:30:53 - Kit: Got a better suggestion?
21:31:01 - Kraiger: It may sound old-fashioned, but I still like to stick to some of the rules...
21:32:00 - Kraiger: (looking at the plans) - OK, we have the home-field advantage - I think we can get some men through here... (indicating a possible route through)
21:32:01 - Bailey: It's also against the rules of war.
21:33:30 - Kraiger: (I'm looking for a way we can sneak 10 marines through to engineering, just enough to put in a defence perimeter around the power plant)
21:33:54 - Kit: Rules of war. Dit the Zho stick to them when they sneaked into trane station? I doubt that.
21:34:29 - Kit: But if you have another suggestion that might work, I'm all ears.
21:36:09 - Kit: Maybe if there is only one entrance (which is probably well guarded) we can find someplace to make a new entrance?
21:36:12 - Bailey: With power out, it must be dark. Maybe you can temporarily blind the Zho using a flash-bang type of grenade. If you and your guys are ready for it, it shouldn't blind you.
21:37:43 - Methuslah: The crawlspaces do permit you to get some men down, but not with equipment.
21:37:44 - Bailey: Even a flash from a PGMP might do it.
21:37:56 - Kit: It will still be a head on fight with the enemy haveing the advantage of numbers AND defensive position on their side. Sounds like a pretty sure defeat for us.
21:39:03 - Kit: I don't think they need much equipment, besides weapons.
21:39:03 - Methuslah: Grenades of any type are not carried as standard equipment. There might be some in the armoury.
21:39:33 - Kraiger: Our advantage is we know the ship a lot better than they do - so we have the chance of getting in behind them. We don't need to fight them all, just put in a defensive perimeter to give you time to fix the drives...
21:39:55 - Methuslah: Equipment means their heavier weapons, unfortunately.
21:40:36 - Kraiger: (So light weapons would be OK? Do I have an estimate from the motion sensors of how many Zho are on engineering deck?)
21:40:37 - Kit: maybe you can make a distraction attack on the entrance while I try to sneak in through a back door (even if I may have to make that back door myself)
21:40:39 - Bailey: What about a backup power plant? There must be some redundancy in a military ship?
21:41:12 - Kit: Probably all down there as well.
21:41:48 - Bailey: Maybe we can just wait. How much air do the Zho suits carry with them?
21:41:59 - Bailey: Can't be too many hours...
21:42:24 - Kraiger: With no power, we're in the same boat!
21:42:57 - Kit: They can probably access the ship's reserven from down there, and the more time we give them, the more they may damage. Besides I do have some objections against suffocating some 100 people.
21:43:02 - Bailey: But *we* have access to more supplies. They're contained.
21:43:05 - Methuslah: Not sufficient for the gravity generators. The backup generator seems to be working - you have low-level lights, and the computers are operational, but it is not sufficient for the total power requirements of the ship. You could restore gravity control, but that would mean cutting life support to all decks.
21:44:01 - Kraiger: OK, Lets try this - Kit, you head down the crawlspace with 5 lightly armed marines - and we will try to come up with a distraction on the other side...
21:44:04 - Kit: They are contained in our power core. If they feel they have no chance left, they might just get the idea to blow the whole ship up. I'm not letting them do that!
21:44:19 - Kraiger: - contained for now - we musn't give them too much time to regroup
21:44:26 - Bailey: Doesn't sound too bad. A few seconds of 10 Gs to KO the Zho and life support returns.
21:44:45 - Kit: OK. That plan is fine with me. (lloking at marines) so who is coming with me?
21:44:50 - Kraiger: That might work....
21:45:26 - Kit: Oh, and if you g' deck 10, give me a littel warning will ya? And scrape me off the floor gently.
21:45:48 - Kit: My bones aint as young as they were.
21:46:07 - Methuslah: There is a risk in shifting the power around. If it is not done correctly, life support might not come back on straight away. (i.e. - if you failed the Engineering check.)
21:47:03 - Bailey: Aren't most the crew in vacc suits now anyway? So a few minutes of life support loss might not be too bad.
21:47:29 - Bailey: It might just start to get cold.
21:47:39 - Kit: ?? I am suddenly somehow confused about our plans. We want to go down to restore main power, not shift power from life support, or do we?
21:48:57 - Bailey: Pick whichever plan you want to go with...
21:49:01 - Kraiger: (Is deck 10 also engineering?)
21:49:10 - Methuslah: Bailey suggested that you could shift power from life support to gravity quickly - I was pointing out the extreme hazards in taht course of action.
21:49:19 - Methuslah: Deck ten is engineering.
21:49:25 - Kit: I don't feel too well about risking life support.
21:50:02 - Kit: I think I'll rather risk my bones trying to restore main power.
21:50:37 - Kraiger: OK, lets go with that plan. When you're in position, we'll throw some distracting fire their way from the main entrance...
21:51:00 - Methuslah: Every marine on the deck steps forward, volunteering.
21:51:10 - Kit: OK (to marines) I need five voluntees for a little squeeze.
21:51:32 - Kit: Uhmm. Just five, really.
21:52:40 - Kit: (in those dammned space suits it's probably hard to tell which of them is best at squeezing through the crawlways).
21:53:24 - Kit: Do Some of you have experience as a team? (a squad well coordinated would be at an advantage)
21:54:22 - Methuslah: Five of them step forward. "We were together in the Isuaggi camapgin, ma'am. Reckon we can work together."
21:54:53 - Kit: Good, What are your names?
21:56:21 - Methuslah: "I'm Corporal Cotter, ma'am. These are Jessel, Bruki, Rath, and Beam." He points at each marine in turn.
21:57:56 - Kit: OK Corporal Cotter. Have your team prepare by stripping off all bulky equipment and lowering the pressure in your suits slightly to prepare for the squeeze.
21:58:23 - Kit: Now we will be trying to take this tour (indicates on plans).
21:58:39 - Kraiger: OK Corporal, your job is to protect Kit and give her time to fix the power plant - try to keep a low profile
21:58:56 - Kraiger: That means shoot only as a last resort...
21:59:21 - Kit: And call me Kit during the tour, that#s short and precise.
21:59:33 - Kraiger: Meanwhile , the rest of you marines get prepared for a frontal assault - its not going to be a real frontal assault, but its going to look like it...
21:59:55 - Methuslah: "Yes, ma'am."
22:00:02 - Methuslah: He turns and gives the appropriate orders.
22:00:26 - Kit: (I prepare as well, pocketing what tools I think i néed as well as some basic medical equipment (first aid pack) and discarding all unnecessary bulk)
22:01:40 - Kraiger: OK, first squad will have point, with the rest of third squad. Second squad establish a defensive position incase first squad has to pull back.
22:02:12 - Kraiger: I want short bursts of supressing fire, from good defensive positons - remember, we are outnumbered, so be ready to fall back if they push hard...
22:03:04 - Kit: OK, everyone ready?
22:03:37 - Methuslah: "Yes, ma'am!."
22:03:40 - Kit: We'll go by the callsign team "Henry". Understood?
22:03:48 - Methuslah: "Sir, yes SIR!"
22:04:28 - Kit: OK, let's get going (proceeding to enter crawlways as close to deck 10 as possible.)
22:05:48 - Methuslah: It is a tight squeeze that takes nearly half an hour to work through, but you finally come out about fifty meters from the reactor room. You cannot see anyone in the corridor, but you have only a narrow field of vision through the grill.
22:06:01 - Kraiger: Kit, give me a signal when you're getting close, and we'll start the fireworks...
22:06:13 - Kit: (making use of my little mirror again)
22:08:26 - Methuslah: You can see a group of guards in the corridor, on the other side of the power plant. They are walking in the opposite direction.
22:09:22 - Kit: OK, Henry is on position as close to the beach as we can get. One group of bathing guests to be seen, moving away. You can start your show now I think
22:09:48 - Kit: (signaling to marines to get ready and keeping an eye on the zho and what they do when the noise szarts)
22:10:50 - Kraiger: OK men - lets go - supressing fire...
22:11:17 - Kraiger: (Start the fireworks. I will stary with second squad in defensive reserve position)
22:12:42 - Kraiger: ( I have someone coming to look at a car I am trying to sell, so I may have to duck out in the next half hour...)
22:13:52 - Methuslah: The first and third squads push down the lift shaft, emerging on the deck. Second is close on their heels, and takes defensive positions. The point unit begins to advance down the corridor. heading towards a crossroads. The guards Kit can see are heading off in that direction.
22:14:38 - Kit: (comm) firework crew, x tourists heading your direction.
22:15:00 - Kit: (where x is the number of guards)
22:15:41 - Kit: (as soon as the guards are out of sight, I'll open the grate and proceed quickly to the power plant)
22:16:02 - Kit: (signaling the marines to follow)
22:16:12 - Methuslah: A group of ten zho's come running down the corridor, throwing themselves to the ground and firing.
22:16:42 - Kit: (meth, at what position, team fireworks or team henry?)
22:17:06 - Kraiger: Cover! (we hit the ground and return fire)
22:17:40 - Methuslah: Team fireworks.
22:18:17 - Methuslah: A couple of the point unit are hit, and drop with holes in their suits. YOur second squad begin to rack up the casulaties, and after a minute all the men on both sides are in secure cover.
22:18:29 - Kit: (OK, proceeding to power plant as soon as the coast is clear,)
22:19:47 - Methuslah: You head down the coridor to the power plant. You reach it with no interference, but the armoured hatch has been sealed.
22:20:14 - Kit: Last man closes the grate behind us so thet our point of entry is not immediately noticed if someone passes.
22:20:53 - Kit: OK, cranking out tools to open it, override the seal, whatever while indicateing to marines to keep alert.
22:22:18 - Kraiger: Keep their heads down boys! (continue supressing fire)
22:22:19 - Methuslah: Override the computer. You'll need a computer roll.
22:22:39 - Kit: If you need a roll: 2D6: 9
22:23:33 - Methuslah: The door seals unclamp, and it begins to slide open, revealing a group of six men in suits, with weapons pointed at you. One of them motions up with his weapon.
22:23:53 - Methuslah: Kraiger, it seems that reinforcements have arrived - another ten guards are in secure positions.
22:25:16 - Kit: taking quick cover next to doors, signaling the marines to do the same and attack) we need to get in there.
22:25:52 - Kit: Dammned guards. Were waiting for us these fiends.
22:26:19 - Methuslah just entered this channel
22:26:47 - Kraiger: (If we get too hard pressed, I will call on firts squad to withdraw...)
22:26:50 - Methuslah: Roll under your dexterity, Kit.
22:27:16 - Kit: 2D6: 3
22:27:39 - Kit: Readying my weapon to return fire .
22:28:17 - Methuslah: 2D6: 3 2D6: 3 2D6: 3 2D6: 3 2D6: 3
22:28:36 - Methuslah: 2D6: 5
22:28:40 - Methuslah: rd26
22:28:42 - Methuslah: 2D6: 3
22:28:43 - Methuslah: 2D6: 9
22:28:47 - Methuslah: 2D6: 7
22:28:48 - Kit: (uhmm, Meth, any rolls in the same line will yield the same results!)
22:28:54 - Methuslah: 2D6: 5
22:29:25 - Methuslah: That I have just learned.
22:29:38 - Kit: (comm) Henry experiencing resistance from tourists at the menu.
22:30:16 - Methuslah: The zhodani open fire. One of the guards is too slow, and is caught by a bullter, but the rest of you have managed to dive to cover before the shots.
22:30:33 - Methuslah: KRaiger, you are beginning to concern heavy casualties. Two more of your men have fallen.
22:31:18 - Kit: Returning fire by sniping around the corner with my rifle. 2D6: 12
22:31:33 - Kit: (wow, I guess I hit something!)
22:31:35 - Kraiger: irst and third - fall back behind second. Second squad, get ready for the Zho...
22:33:27 - Methuslah: The second squad takes positions and begins to fire, but you are heavily outnumbered.
22:33:43 - Kraiger:
I prepare myself for the ZHo assault - and start firing as first squad passes - 2D6: 7
22:33:55 - Methuslah: Kit, you appear to have cought one of the men in the chest. His body floats out of the open hatch.
22:34:03 - Kraiger: 2D6: 7
22:34:13 - Kraiger: 2D6: 5
22:34:26 - Methuslah: Kraiger, you catch one of the zho in the shoulder. He falls down to the deck.
22:34:34 - Kraiger: Henry? We're having a hard time here, you'd better get the power online _quick_
22:34:55 - Kit: proceeding with sniping tectic, indicating to marines to do the same. We have to be quick. If posiible I grab the floating body as cover and/or distraction.
22:35:01 - Kraiger: First squad - form up a defensive position - second squad - get ready to pull back
22:35:34 - Methuslah: The marines begin to open fire.
22:35:34 - Kit: another shot 2D6: 9 (comm) having slight discussion with locals, doing our best to convince them to leave.
22:35:35 - Methuslah: rd26
22:35:37 - Methuslah: 2D6: 9
22:35:44 - Methuslah: 2D6: 10
22:35:50 - Methuslah: 2D6: 10
22:36:16 - Methuslah: Well, I think the marines have done their job - you've felled all the zho's!
22:36:34 - Kit: (good, enter quickly and reseal door.)
22:36:57 - Methuslah: Another three of your men have fallen, Kraiger, though you have accounted for ten of the enemy. Another group appears to be coming forward.
22:37:02 - Kit: Good job men, now let's secure this room. I'll take care of the power plant.
22:37:47 - Kit: Taking account of situation in central power and hurrying to fix the main power plant)
22:38:29 - Kit: (comm) local resistance overcome. Taking stock of situation at buffet.
22:38:30 - Kraiger: Second squad, pull back - first squad, covering fire! ( we break positions and run back to form probably the last defensive position by the lift shaft)
22:38:38 - Methuslah: The reactor has been turned off. Reactivation will take five minutes and two successful engineering rolls - 5 or above.
22:39:02 - Kraiger: (Make it good Kit!!!!)
22:39:17 - Methuslah: You manage to form up a final defensive position with the few remaining marines. The zhodani are moving forward into noew firing positions.
22:39:22 - Kit: (to marines) secure the door, I need five minutes time (comm) in position, Buffet open for business in about five minutes.
22:39:47 - Kit: OK, getting to work 2D6: 7
22:39:58 - Kit: 2D6: 8
22:40:18 - Methuslah: Five minutes to warm up.
22:40:29 - Kraiger: Alright marines, this is it - dig in and keep firing!
22:40:38 - Kraiger: (firing myself - 2D6: 9)
22:40:42 - Kit: (comm) fall back, firework, ready for hot coffee now!!
22:40:42 - Kraiger: 2D6: 3
22:40:45 - Methuslah: Stewart - I think it is about time for you to work your magic with the gravity generators.
22:40:46 - Kraiger: 2D6: 9
22:41:34 - Kraiger: First squad - up the lift shaft NOW
22:41:59 - Kraiger: Second squad, follow on (I stay with second squad until first has gone)
22:42:04 - Kit: (i hope steward is still with us!)
22:42:10 - Kraiger: 2D6: 6
22:42:14 - Methuslah: The three remaining marine from the firt squad push themselves up the lift shaft.
22:43:09 - Kraiger: second and third - NOW (I wait until most have gone, still firing - 2D6: 8)
22:43:31 - Kit: (preparing for high G) Team henry, prepare for some hard g's.
22:43:55 - Kit: Do (here follows instructions for taking on high G)
22:45:03 - Bailey: Eveyone ready? Here goes... (using grav to knock out the Zho as planned)
22:45:43 - Kit: Urgh.. keep breathing... keeep .... breathing ...
22:46:21 - Methuslah: The zhodani on the deck crash to the floor. Kit, you and your men are prepared, but you are still on the verge of unconsiousness. A couple of your men black out, but, you remain consious. Then the pressure is released.
22:46:45 - Bailey: How's that working down there? Is it enough, or do I need to increase the gravity?
22:46:49 - Kit: I'd... really ...prefer... taking ....these ...g's from acceleration on a... ship ...
22:47:10 - Kraiger: OK marines, back we go - quickly! (back down the lift shaft, weapons ready, and ovcer-run the Zho positions...)
22:47:56 - Methuslah: The zhos are almost all unconsious, and those that remain are in no condition to offer resistance. The Battle of Deck Ten is over.
22:48:20 - Kit: Urgh. groan. I'm getting too old for this. (proceeding to check my men) Everybody ok?
22:48:52 - Bailey: Kit, Kraiger, ready to move to the next deck? What's your next objective?
22:48:54 - Kit: (who was the one among my men who got killed?)
22:48:54 - Kraiger: Engineering secured! Well done everyone - now, secure these Zho quickly...
22:49:02 - Methuslah: Two of your men are still out, but neither looks serious.
22:49:31 - Kraiger: (Comm to Kit - Kit - we're pretty badly shot up here - I think my marines need your services quickly)
22:49:53 - Kit: Good job men. We made it. Now we should be able to take the ship back.
22:50:44 - Kraiger: (To one of the uninjured marines) soldier - get to the emergency bridge and report that engineering is secure - and then come back with a status report
22:51:00 - Kit: (to men) secure this position until the whole deck is clear. The doctor is needed elsewhere. We'll take a drink together once this is over. (grab my medkit and head for battle site)
22:51:10 - Kraiger: (As soon as the Zho are secure, I'll start to take care of the injured Marines)
22:52:25 - Kit: (I'll check on my one man first, anything that can be done for him or is he dead?)
22:52:36 - Methuslah: You have a lot of casualties, but only a couple of fatalities. It seems your men were the better shots: most of the Zho's you hit ae dead.
22:53:15 - Methuslah: I'm afraid he has died - but quickly.
22:53:29 - Kraiger: (I'll pass amongst the wounded, and uninjured, giving praise and support...)
22:54:19 - Kit: I'll put his body in a proper position before I move on to tend to the wounded.
22:54:47 - Methuslah: After twenty minutes, you have done all you can for the wounded - it looks like they should all make it.
22:55:14 - Methuslah: The jamming of the internal communications has just stopped. YOu are getting a communication from the auxiliary bridge.
22:55:32 - Methuslah: "We hold the bridge. We would like to discuss your terms."
22:56:03 - Kit: Good. If the deck is secured, I'll go back to my men and provide some praise and morale support. Our comarade gave his life in a good fight.
22:56:17 - Kit: (can we G' the bridge?)
22:56:54 - Kraiger: The Zho hold the bridge? Ah crap...
22:56:58 - Methuslah: (Yes - if you want to.)
22:57:14 - Bailey: Standing by.
22:57:23 - Kit: Oh well, we'll just G# it if they don't give up.
22:57:47 - Bailey: Kit, Kraiger, what do think? Knock them out?
22:57:59 - Kraiger: (Comm to bridge) What terms?
22:58:06 - Kit: (comm to Zho) Your men are defeated. You can surrender willingly and we will spare your lives.
22:58:18 - Bailey: (Adjusting the controls to thwack the bridge with a sudden and large acceleration.)
22:58:34 - Kraiger: I'll keep them talking - if they hold the bridge, they may be able to over-ride the grav controlls and knock _us_ out!
22:59:13 - Bailey: My finger's on the button. Just give the word.
23:00:46 - Methuslah: "We have ten hostages - the command crew. They will die if you activate the gravity."
23:02:22 - Bailey: Remind them that killing the hostages is a violation of the law of war.
23:02:23 - Kit: (com to zho) We are starting to take hostages now are we? Like common criminals eh? Why don't you jsut surrender. If you don't and if any harm comes to your "hostages" I can assure you, no one of you is going to get out alive!
23:03:12 - Kit: I though you Zhodani were so civilizes, but now you stoop to taking hostages.
23:03:41 - Methuslah: "My dear sir, war obeys no rules."
23:03:43 - Kit: I guess that says something about how we should treat our prisoners, or do you have a different suggestion?
23:04:10 - Bailey: Let me push the button. Any objections?
23:04:14 - Kit: If you act like lowly pirates, you will be treated as such. Is that what you want?
23:04:22 - Methuslah: "They are irelevant. They failed, or you would be their prisoners."
23:04:53 - Kit: Oh, yes, I forgot, the great valua of life in yoir society.
23:05:23 - Kit: You are irrelevant too, because you too will be dead, unless you start to act like civilized people and surrender.
23:06:40 - Kit: (private com) Can we get a security camera working on the bridge to see what's going on?
23:06:45 - Methuslah: "To the Imperial firing squad we would face? The Empire kills prisoners too, remember. Do not pretend your hands are clean!"
23:07:09 - Bailey: I'm taking that as no objections, so I hit the bridge with an extremely high acceleration. Not enough to kill, but just below that.
23:07:30 - Kit: Hey I do object!
23:07:48 - Kit: I'm still talking to them, you notice?
23:08:06 - Methuslah: The cameras are not operating -t hey must have smashed them.
23:08:10 - Bailey: You also didn't object when I asked...
23:08:52 - Kit: Oh rats. I head for the bridge as quickly as possible, taking my team with me. We may need to help some injured people.
23:09:05 - Kit: (and bailey, I was busy talking to the Zho ok?)
23:09:31 - Bailey: I thought you were trying to distract them...
23:09:55 - Kit: I was trying to get them to become reasonable.
23:10:18 - Bailey: You may still have a chance.
23:10:45 - Kit: If they harmed their prisoners, they will die too. What an awful waste of life. So unnecessary.
23:11:33 - Kit: I am heading for the bridge now with team Henry. We may need medical assistance there.
23:12:08 - Methuslah: You manage to make your way to the bridge. There seem to be a few isolated pockets of resistance, but the crew you meet eem to be dealing with them. You reach the auxiliary bridge, to find a group of unconsious men lying on the deck. The bridge crew seemto have eben positioned to ben killed by the gravity break - and it mostly seems to have worked. Only a couple of them are alive, but the Zho's all appear to have survived.
23:12:50 - Kit: I take care of the wounded as best as I can and order my men to secure the zhodani.
23:13:14 - Methuslah: Commander Bailey, I would guess you just suceeded to command of the Azhanti High Lightning.
23:13:30 - Methuslah: The zhodani are all unconsious, many wounded - no state to offer resistance.
23:13:34 - Kit: Kit seems to be royally pissed at the Zho and their disregard of life, even of their own people.
23:14:36 - Bailey: First an aging freighter, now the Azhanti.
23:14:37 - Kit: Her curses while she treats the wounded could shrivle a forest of blooms.
23:15:16 - Methuslah: Something of a promotion.
23:15:48 - Bailey: [Is this a good place to stop?]
23:15:54 - Kit: (private comm to baily) Commander baily, in the future try to think before you pull the trigger. These people might have been saved, had you not acted so rashly!
23:16:36 - Methuslah: {I believe so - it is getting rather late. Good game, everyone.}
23:17:06 - Kit: Yes, good game, and Kit ahs lots of reasons to be pissed!
23:17:44 - Kit: Some trigger happy cowboy you are!!
23:17:54 - Bailey just logged off.
23:18:02 - Methuslah: On the bright side, I think you are now acting Chief Engineer of a fleet carrier.
23:18:18 - Kit: Yeah great.
23:18:30 - Kit: It's not really what I wahted to become.
23:19:04 - Kit: I'd much rather have my bucephalos.
23:19:09 - Methuslah: I did say 'acting'.
23:19:24 - Kit:
23:19:42 - Kit: There certainly is enough to fix on this ship.
23:20:13 - Kit: step one The coffee machines!
23:20:15 - Methuslah: I have a feeling that next session will see some major changes. Believe it or not - we're fairly close to a resoloution of this part of the campaign. After all, you have beaten the bad guys.
23:20:57 - Kit: Yeah. And I do have some nice infor for my cousin Aledon!
23:21:28 - Kit: Now if only I could find a way to get them to him.
23:21:43 - Methuslah: You'll have some more soon. Then maybe you can carry on the Egyrn subsector!
23:22:32 - Kit: Actually I doubt we'll ever get there. With war in full thrust, I'd much rather head home and help out there.
23:23:59 - Methuslah: Regina subsector is a long way away. And war is not limited to one front.
23:24:04 - Kit: And wether the company still wants us to go there while the war rages is another question alltogether.
23:24:23 - Methuslah: I'm in danger of saying too much. All - or at least more - will be revealed next week.
23:24:26 - Kit: And I still have that disk that the trane commander gave us. Hmm.
23:24:48 - Kit: Some riddles left to be solved.
23:25:03 - Kit: Still, I hope I can at least send a message to Regina.
23:25:18 - Methuslah: And now Bailey is the Captain, he has access to the Captain's coding equipment.
23:25:41 - Kit: meaning I do too
23:26:00 - Kit: Now we just need to keep him from shooting at it!
23:26:07 - Methuslah: Exactly.
23:26:21 - Kit: Trigger happy captain, a new thing that is!
23:27:00 - Methuslah: I think there is a course in that at the Naval Academy...

23:27:23 - Kit: Must be yes. Dammned navy, no respect for life.
23:27:50 - Kit: I guess the IISS has a slightly different philosophy.
23:28:32 - Kit: Good thing the Navy isn't in charge of first contact missions!
23:29:58 - Kit: I'm certainly looking forward to next week.
23:30:18 - Methuslah: So am I. Well, have a good week.
23:30:25 - Kit: bye
