Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log 01.12.2002
20:35:49 - Methuslah: Last week, on the Imperial Fringe.....
20:37:21 - Kit: Methuslah: "Good God! Incoming! Two bogies coming in, at 6 G's!"
20:37:40 - Methuslah: After a tense shootout on the wreck of the colony ship, you managed to interrogate the Commissar and some of his men. YOu learned that War had been declared, and that the Zhodani were making a strike for Trane Highport. The Silver Sliver managed to make it away from the station, and landed on the deck, taking off you and the Commissar, as well as Silvaa. The Station Commander is on board also, but wounded. YOu were heading for the asteroid belt when you noticed:
20:37:42 - Kit: (that was about the last quote)
20:38:50 - Kraiger: I don't suppose this tub has a firing slit I could point my PGMP out of, does it?
20:39:36 - Methuslah: "Afraid not!", cries the Kid, "No weapons on this crate at all!"
20:40:21 - Kit: hey kid, didn't you say this baby could go faster than 6g? Maybe we can outrun them?
20:41:22 - Kraiger: (Kraiger secures for impact)
20:42:01 - Methuslah: "I designed this for racing, but I'm not sure how well she'll hold out. Those fighters are fast. Better strap in - the contragrav won't work properly above 6g."
20:42:39 - Kit: OK, How is the commander (I#ll check him and see to it that he can take the strain)
20:43:18 - Kit: Kid, believe in your ship, then it won't fail you!!
20:43:56 - Methuslah: He looks in a bad way - solid shot through the shoulder. He's lost quite a lot of blood and you suspect internal bleeding. He might take the strain, but you aren't sure.
20:44:33 - Kit: (I'll do what I can to stabilize him. We don't have much choice. So we'll have to take the chance and pray)
20:45:20 - Kit: If the Commander survives the escape, he'll need medical attention fast, or at least a cold berth.
20:45:55 - Methuslah: Make a medical roll - 4 or above needed.
20:46:10 - Kit: 2D6: 4
20:46:21 - Kit: (ouw close)
20:47:20 - Kit: (patching up people during high acceleration half strapped into a shuttle seat aint easy!)
20:47:49 - Methuslah: You manage to stabilize him, but he will need prompt medical attention.
20:48:59 - Kit: Kid, we need to get him to a good medical station fast. So loose those pesky fighters and find us a hospital will ya!
20:49:08 - Methuslah: "I'm going to transfer alternate controls to the other stations. Will you take over - I'm going to need to concentrate totally on the piloting."
20:49:48 - Kit: Okay (I'll need another set of hands here)
20:50:30 - Methuslah: Two control stations lights up: Engineering and NAvigation.
20:50:35 - Kit: (What a picture, probably my hands on the patient and my feet on the controls
)
20:51:39 - Kit: Kraiger, Meth, Any of you able to take over one of these? Or shall I multiply?
20:51:52 - StewartBailey: (How good is The Kid? Do I think that I'm a better pilot?)
20:52:30 - Kit: (Steward, he is good, and he knows the ship. I'd leave the steering to him)
20:52:47 - Kit: (Can you take over nav or engineering?)
20:52:52 - Methuslah: (The Kid bragged he had Pilot to level Six - he seems to be doing OK. You don't see anything he is doing wrong.)
20:53:03 - StewartBailey: I can probably run the navigation console. Or engineering also.
20:53:46 - Kit: Ya don't happen to have a cup of coffee handy? No? Thought so!
20:54:30 - Kit: I don't know how much of my attention is needed for the patient. I can probably take over one task, what are you better at?
20:54:51 - StewartBailey: The same with each (eng-1, nav-1, I believe).
20:55:27 - Kit: Oh, well pick one, yell for help if you need it, I'll take the other (and keep an eye on the rookie
)
20:55:55 - Methuslah: (Actually, Eng-2, NAv-2.)
20:55:57 - StewartBailey: OK. I'll grab navigation.
20:56:17 - Methuslah: The navigation display begins to light up - enemy fighters in firing range in 90 seconds.
20:56:42 - Methuslah: "Ok Kit - give me more power on the engines. I'll see waht I can do with this thing."
20:56:51 - Kit: (I'll take over engineering, and keep an eye on the patient lest he need help)
20:56:54 - Methuslah: (Engine Roll - 5 or above.)
20:57:17 - Kit: OK 2D6: 6
20:57:39 - Kit: Power coming up
20:57:54 - Kraiger just entered this channel
20:58:16 - Methuslah: The Kid playes around with the controls, and you feel a sudden burst of acceleration.
20:58:45 - Methuslah: "6.8g! Never had it this high! Course for the asteroid belt please, Commander."
20:58:58 - StewartBailey: Can I offer The Kid any useful pointers on maneuvers (Ship Tactics skill)?
20:59:19 - Methuslah: (6 or above)
20:59:29 - StewartBailey: 2D6: 7
20:59:37 - Kit: Beautiful ship, just beautiful. (mumbling)
21:00:54 - Methuslah: "Good idea, Commander. Will implement."
21:00:56 - Kraiger: (*Mutter mummble* dammned cowboy jockey's)
21:01:47 - Kit: Ah Groundling, just keep your barfbag handy and pray that us cowboy jockeys get you away from death in time!
21:03:33 - Methuslah: The scanners are alerting again. The fighters are up to 6.3g, still on an intercept course.
21:04:48 - StewartBailey: Maybe I can find a way to tweak engineering to give us a bit of extra acceleration ( 2D6: 8).
21:04:54 - StewartBailey: Maybe not.
21:05:21 - Kit: C'mon baby, you can do it. C'mon!!
21:05:38 - Methuslah: "6.9!"
21:06:16 - Kit: Good baby, great baby. You'll win this race for sure!!
21:06:28 - Kit: (stroking engine lovingly)
21:06:45 - StewartBailey: Let's go for an even 7.0 ( 2D6: 10)
21:07:23 - Kit: (checking on patient. Is he ok?)
21:07:28 - Methuslah: "Seven flat! We're pulling away!"
21:08:05 - Methuslah: An alarm sounds off on the navigation console. Missile launched and homing. The Commander seems to be stable for the moment.
21:08:38 - StewartBailey: (I'll check the console for any useful information.)
21:08:44 - Kit: Holy Shit, do we have defensive measures aboard?
21:09:38 - Kit: anything to confuse or dereil the missile?
21:09:39 - Methuslah: "Stripped to save weight! Commander - give me a divergent course!"
21:09:54 - Methuslah: (Navigation roll - 7 or above.)
21:10:23 - StewartBailey: ( 2D6: 8) Course coming up. (Crossing fingers...)
21:10:24 - Kraiger: Kit, whats the acceleration on a missile?
21:10:48 - Kit: (? forward question to GM)
21:11:15 - Kraiger: (Kraiger suits up in a vacc suit) - I may have an idea...
21:12:16 - Kit: For I am alone among the vast beauty of the stars, and should I die today, at least I have seen the glory of creation in its full splendor. (sounds like a quote)
21:12:20 - Methuslah: (Zhodani standard missile accel - 10g.)
21:13:15 - Kraiger: Not sure if this is going to work though (readies a static line, and preps PGMP)
21:13:17 - Kit: (No way to outrun that)
21:13:31 - Kit: What are you up to?
21:13:37 - StewartBailey: Any ECM aboard? Kit, can you rig some up?
21:13:46 - Kraiger: But it can't be that much harder than drone target shooting (heads towards airlock)
21:14:05 - Kit: Not sure (checking available material?) GM?
21:14:35 - Kit: Kraiger, we're still accelerating, the line won't hold that!
21:15:30 - Kraiger: Should be OK if I don't lean out to far... I think...
21:16:14 - Kit: And you call us crazy cowboys. Well, good luck!
21:16:17 - Methuslah: (No defensive systems onboard at all. You might be able to rig something, but it will take time.)
21:16:45 - StewartBailey: How long until missile impact?
21:16:55 - Kit: (I'll get to work with the rigging, as long as I have a hand free for it that is)
21:17:39 - Kraiger: (is there a choice of airlocks?)
21:17:52 - Kit: Not sure if I can rig something up in time, but hell.. I might as well try!
21:18:07 - Methuslah: (Missile is still homing. Once it acquires - fifty seconds.) (Only one airlock, starboard side.)
21:18:18 - Methuslah: Engineering - eight or more.
21:18:49 - Kit: praying: 2D6: 11
21:19:22 - Kraiger: (Cycle inner airlock door. Once inside, rig the statis line as securely as possible - multiple connection points...)
21:19:50 - Kit: (whatever I've rigged up, activation as soon as possible)
21:20:36 - Methuslah: You've managed to rig the waste dump to shower radioactive particles from the fuel supply, It should work.
21:21:01 - Kit: OK, everybody pray now, I'm trying something! (activation)
21:21:29 - Kit: Kraiger, keep your head in for a while, might get hot outside!)
21:21:56 - Kraiger: Gotcha (use the time to esure I am well secured)
21:22:16 - Methuslah: The missile wanders off - but it is still active. You have bought some time.
21:23:23 - Kit: Kraiger, I f you care to do some target shooting now, you may as well try. There's not much more that I can do.
21:24:08 - Kraiger: Keep your finger crossed (cycles outer airlock)
21:24:11 - Kit: But make sure you don't get lost, we can't turn back to pick you up, understood?
21:24:40 - Kraiger: Thats OK, I'm assuming those asteroids will stop me...
21:24:47 - Kit: (is there a way to feed the info from the ships scanners to kraigers helmet to help him target?)
21:25:24 - Methuslah: With a slight burst of air, the outer door cycles, and you find yourself looking out into the blackness of space, Trane hanging in front off you, a big dark-green orb.
21:25:50 - Methuslah: Yes - computer roll required - Stewart has the best chance, with 7 or over.
21:26:55 - Kraiger: (Bracing myself, I gently ease myself to a position where I can see behind the ship)
21:27:12 - Kit: Steward Do your best!
21:27:55 - StewartBailey: Let me see what I can do... (r26d)
21:27:55 - Kit: Steward? (Has he fainted?)
21:28:03 - Methuslah: The line is still tight and secured. You can push yourself into a position, but you can't see the missile at the moment. A couple of points of light are visible, at extreme range - probably plasma exhaust.
21:28:07 - StewartBailey: (One more time 2D6: 5)
21:28:54 - StewartBailey: (rats)
21:29:09 - Kit: (can I help somewhat? 2D6: 5)
21:29:22 - Kit: (not much help I'm afraid
)
21:29:29 - Kraiger: OK, I'm out here, but I can't see the missile - any bearing you can give me?
21:29:50 - StewartBailey: (is there time for another attempt, or is that it?)
21:30:28 - Kit: Steward try again!, we don't have much time
21:30:34 - Methuslah: You can give him bearings, but he'll be firing blind. You can have another attempt, but it will be the last.
21:30:37 - Kit: (can we do a cooperative effort?)
21:30:53 - Methuslah: Missile has passed through the particle cloud, and is homing again.
21:31:16 - StewartBailey: Hold on Kraiger, let me see if I can some data for you ( 2D6: 10)
21:32:31 - Methuslah: Head's up display now connected- Kraiger, you have a bearing on the missile. You should get a couple of shots, at 7 or above.
21:33:09 - Kit: Good Luck groundling!
21:33:30 - Kraiger: If this doesn't work, suit up and bring me those three las pistols...
21:33:50 - Kraiger: OK, here goes.... 2D6: 6
21:34:09 - Kit: Why pistols? we got rifles!
21:34:14 - Kraiger: Adjusting... 2D6: 3
21:34:53 - Kraiger: Those pistols have an overload feature that may make them blow - and I'm all out of ideas!
21:35:08 - Kit: Can't ya even hit the broadside of a barn!
21:35:43 - StewartBailey: Bogus. (Getting a vacc suit on and grabbing the laser rifles)
21:35:59 - Kraiger: Wanna try this fly-girl???? (deep breath, centre and focus, be the target...)
21:36:11 - Methuslah: Two misses, the last one by a mile. Missile has acquired, impact in thirty seconds!
21:36:18 - Kit: (taking over abandoned stations) Call me if you two need help ok!
21:36:30 - Kraiger: and squeeeeeze - 2D6: 7
21:37:07 - StewartBailey: (I'll take a shot with one of the laser rifles also) 2D6: 3
21:37:21 - Kit: And now for the big lightshow!!
21:37:41 - Methuslah: A satisfactory explosion results, as the warhead detonates prematurely.
21:37:57 - StewartBailey: (I should have used Kraiger's body pistol)
21:38:27 - Kit: Why'd that take so long. Army boys (but sounds relieved)
21:39:23 - Kit: (checking stations, everything ok?)
21:39:46 - Kraiger: (squating back inside the airlock) 'cause I like cliffhangers...
21:40:10 - StewartBailey: (is there still one more missile?)
21:41:04 - Kit: So far totay we've seen some great piloting, fantastic feats of improvisational engineering and some lousy shooting. Wonder what's next....by the way, good job guys!
21:41:08 - Methuslah: The fighters have increased to 6.4g - and building. No more missiles at the moment.
21:41:11 - Kraiger: (No,its a bowl of petunias...
)
21:41:57 - Kit: (are those fighters close enough to shoot dwon with a PGMP?)
21:42:09 - StewartBailey: (I'll go back into the ship in case I need to hack the engineering or navigation stuff)
21:42:56 - Methuslah: Too far away, and pulling back all the time - you are moving away quickly.
21:43:50 - Kit: (OK, Hmm, is there anything on board that could be rigged as a space mine of sorts?)
21:44:33 - Methuslah: No explosives on board.
21:45:23 - Kit: How far to the asteroids? Is there a chance to loose them there?
21:46:19 - StewartBailey: At the speeds that the fighters are going, any sort of debris should case some serious damage. Do we have any trash that we could drop out, preferably lots fo small fragments?
21:47:17 - Methuslah: The belt is about ten hours away at present acceleration.
21:47:30 - Kit: I got a few handfull of screws, but I'm not sure theyll do much damage. (GM?)
21:47:36 - Methuslah: "Maybe - some of the space engine parts might serve?"
21:48:00 - Kraiger: (Back into the ship ) Have we tried talking to these guys? Just a thought...
21:49:06 - Kit: No, but I'm pretty sure they'll just ask us to surrender. It's not as if we have anything to offer that they couldn't take by force if they catch us!
21:49:46 - Kit: (ti Kid) maybe. (I'll ckech to see if anything could be quickly converted into suitable debris caltrops)
21:51:27 - Methuslah: There are a lot of small parts in the maintainance caddies, but dropping those would mean no more spares.
21:51:51 - Kraiger: (Indicating Las pistol) Hey Silvaa - do you know anything about these pistol's the Technum guys were using?
21:52:01 - Kit: (How big is the chance of stopping our pursuers that way)
21:52:20 - StewartBailey: What about just running? Can we make it to the asteroids?
21:53:53 - Methuslah: As things stand, you should outrun them - but you are running the engines well above capacity - and a burnout would leave you vulnerable.
21:54:30 - StewartBailey: How long until we make the asteroids?
21:54:50 - Kit: We are faster than they are, but it really depends on how long they will pursue us, and besides, I'm not sure if we should go into the asteroids at our current velocity. We'll have to slow down for that.
21:54:58 - Methuslah: Ten hours.
21:56:01 - Kit: What you guys think! use our spare parts to try to loose them? I say we risk that rather than have the engine burn out from under us!
21:56:08 - StewartBailey: Maybe they wouldn't fire on us if they knew the Comissioner was aboard.
21:56:37 - Kit: And maybe that would just increase their resolve to catch us!
21:57:14 - Kit: (How much fuel do we habe btw.?)
21:57:22 - StewartBailey: They might think twice about firing any more missiles or shooting at us, though.
21:58:01 - Kit: I really don't know. What do you think Silvaa?
21:58:29 - Methuslah: "Enough for the run to the Belt, but not much of a manuvering reserve.
21:59:26 - Kit: Thats not good. We do need something to maneuver with in the belt, if we are to find someone to help us!
21:59:57 - Kraiger: These are Zhodani fighters, right? DO you know anything about them Silvaa? Weaponry?
22:01:50 - Methuslah: "I have little knowledge of such things - but I know they are armed with a missile apiece, and a pulse laser. I know nothing more, I'm sorry."
22:02:32 - Kit: Say Silvaa, how would they react if they knew we have the commissioner alive? Try to bargain or try to kill him and us?
22:02:33 - StewartBailey: So thay have no more missiles. At least that's good news.
22:03:24 - Kit: Two fighters, two missiles. We just shot down one. According to my math, thats at least one more missile!
22:03:28 - Kraiger: They only fired one, so there's still one missile left...
22:03:40 - Methuslah: "It might work - the second is a sycophant."
22:04:15 - Kit: (?Sycophant? My english is lecking there)
22:05:16 - Methuslah: (He sucks up to his boss.)
22:05:44 - Kit: (Ah I see
)
22:06:24 - StewartBailey: (Ah, I must have been thinking of the two *bogies*)
22:06:57 - Kit: Hmm. What do you guys think? You try to talk to the man and get him to call his boys off and I try to rig some kinda spacecaltropflinger?
22:07:34 - Kit: And don't tell him we have silvaa here. I thing it's better if his people believe him dead.
22:09:34 - Kraiger: Well, we may as well try putting out a mayday, see if there isn't anyone else here that can help..
22:10:31 - Kit: Someone willing to tackle two Zho fighters? Well, maybe the space gods ARE with us, but THAT much luck?
22:11:01 - Kit: Steward, any sign on the scanners of other ships?
22:11:28 - Kraiger: Well, if can't find a way out of this system, then avoiding those fighters is only going to help us short term anyway....
22:11:33 - Methuslah: Nothing on passive scan.
22:12:31 - StewartBailey: Nothing. We could get more range from an active scan, but that would also advertise our presence.
22:13:57 - Kit: Suggestion: We send a message to the ZHO. Not a dialogue, just a message: "We have as our prisoner the Commissioner (insert name, rank etc, should be available from Silvaa)). No harm will befall him if you immediately abort your pursuit. In such a case formal procedures for prisoner exchange may be followed later for a safe return of your man. Otherwise we will be forced to dispatch him." What do you think?
22:15:07 - StewartBailey: Killing him after he's our prisoner is probably a violation of many treaties.
22:15:47 - Kit: OK, then let's call it: "otherwise we will not be able to guarantee for his continued good health!"
22:16:02 - Kraiger: OK - let broadcast it on all frquencies, that way if there are any friendlies around, they'll know the score...
22:16:24 - Kraiger: Hmm, good point Stewart...
22:16:46 - Kit: or rather "otherwise we cannot guarantee for his continued safety as our defensive maneuvers may be dangerous to his health"
22:19:22 - Kraiger: And we may as well run an active scan - I'm sure that the Zho are already well aware of our presence...
22:19:33 - Kit: Include a from and to with full title and such and call him Prisoner of war. That should gieve a better picture to anyone listening in!
22:20:43 - Methuslah: "This is pilot Yilan. Relaying your message. Please cease acceleration."
22:21:04 - Kit: An I do hope that whoever offers help has good medical facilites. The Commander will need them!
22:21:36 - StewartBailey: Hey, who is this Yilan? Is he Zhodani?
22:22:06 - Kraiger: Well, he _did_ say please...
22:22:43 - Kit: Kid, slow down...a bit... to show him we are willing to talk
22:23:19 - Methuslah: "Chief fighter pilot. He has some influence - he is an intendant."
22:23:53 - Kit: meaning?
22:24:45 - Methuslah: "One step down from a noble - but the Commissar was the only noble on board."
22:25:19 - Kit: Ah, what about the other ships?
22:26:12 - Methuslah: "Commanded by intendants - but ours was the flagship."
22:26:49 - StewartBailey: Can we revive the Comissioner to talk to him?
22:26:58 - Kit: I see
22:27:03 - StewartBailey: With the zapping headset on, of course.
22:27:25 - Kit: Probably. But what is it that you want to talk to him about?
22:30:40 - StewartBailey: Maybe if he tells the Zhodani to back off they will listen to him.
22:32:24 - Kit: Maybe. But lets see first, if there is any reaction to our first message. And I want to adjust the headband a bit. I want it to cause irritation, not pain and I think it needs a few more adjustments for that. It was something of a rush job the first time around!
22:32:55 - Kit: (starting to fiddle with headband)
22:33:14 - Kit: Whos gonna do the talking if we wake him?
22:33:23 - Kraiger: I don't trust these guys much - here's a thought - we could stick him in a vacc suit and kick him into space - that would buy us some time while they do a search and rescue for him...
22:33:40 - Methuslah just entered this channel
22:34:07 - StewartBailey: Isn't it Kraiger's turn to talk to the Zhodani?
22:34:06 - Kit: Yeah. and him being unconscious they might just miss him and hell die a terrible death. Im against that!
22:34:07 - Methuslah: Sorry about that - got thrown out.
22:34:33 - Methuslah: "Pilot Yilan speaking. Cease acceleration at once, or I will fire."
22:35:17 - Kraiger: Well, I prefer shooting at them, but OK...
22:35:33 - Kit: New message to Zho: "If you fire at us, you will be firing at your own commissioner! Abort your pursuit immediately!"
22:35:54 - Methuslah: "Then cease acceleration."
22:36:57 - Kraiger: Pilot Yilan, it is _you_ that mus cease acceleration
22:37:45 - Kraiger: (To Zho) This is Lt. Col Kraiger. We have your Commisar, and no harm will come to him, but we will not allow ourselves to be captured.
22:38:02 - Methuslah: "Or what, deadhead?"
22:38:25 - Kraiger: We will arrange a neutral point where we can exchange the Commisar, in return for a ship back to Imperial space
22:39:06 - Kraiger: _Or_, we will keep running until either our ship blows, or we smack into an asteroid field - which isn't going to do your Comissar a lot of good.
22:39:40 - Methuslah: "We do not negotiate with the likes of you."
22:39:55 - Methuslah: "Surrender, and I may consider releasing you."
22:40:07 - Kit: Is someone recording this to playback to the commisioner before he dies?
22:40:43 - Kit: Hey silvaa, is it usual pricedure among the zho NOT to parlay for prisoners of war?
22:41:59 - Kraiger: Anyone object to me sending out a Mayday? We need _some_ kind of help here...
22:42:31 - Kit: No objections here, though I doubt someone will hear us.
22:42:51 - Kit: hey silvaaa, what is the usual procedure among Zhodani for such cases?
22:43:02 - StewartBailey: They might hear us, but no asteroid miner is going to rescue us.
22:43:15 - Methuslah: "No - they would normally try and negotiate - and try to trick us."
22:43:46 - Kit: The why aint they trying to negotiate here?
22:44:10 - Kraiger: Mayday, Mayday. This is Lt. Col Kraiger, onboard the Silver Silver. We are being pursued by hostile Zhodani fighters. We have wounded, civilians, and Prissoners on board. Mayday, mayday...
22:44:47 - Methuslah: ".........you.......eri.........cr.........extreme......"
22:44:57 - Kit: Kid, the commander mentioned a modified xboat that was supposed to take us further. Do you know hware that thing is stationed? Is there a minder somewhere that we could reach?
22:45:10 - Kraiger: We need some place to run to. Stewart, do you want to try an active scan and see if there are _any_ jump ships in-system?
22:45:43 - StewartBailey: Fair enough. The Zhodani already know where we are, after all. ( 2D6: 8)
22:45:55 - Kraiger: Hey, I got something. Stewart, do you want to see if you can lock onto this signal?
22:46:15 - Methuslah: "That'll be at the relay station - but it's in orbit around Agrua, hundred million out. We don't have the fuel for a full burn."
22:46:35 - Methuslah: Picking up three blips at extreme range, about ten million out.
22:47:39 - StewartBailey: Can I get any more datail from the active scan ( 2D6: 6)?
22:48:22 - StewartBailey: So the three sensor contacts are the relay station, is that right?
22:48:52 - Kraiger: (How many vacc suits do we have on board?)
22:49:04 - Methuslah: They are moving in tight formation. ETA eleven hours, for a meeting at the belt.
22:49:17 - Methuslah: "But the tender is in fixed orbit station. That can't be it?"
22:49:20 - Methuslah: (Four)
22:50:12 - Kraiger: The belt? Thats probably those damn Zho Cruisers then..
22:50:20 - StewartBailey: We can try some sort of tighter-beam communication to them, hoping that they are friendly.
22:51:05 - Kraiger: I got a reply to my Mayday just then - can we try and locate the source and pick up the signal better?
22:51:29 - StewartBailey: I though that there were only three Zhodani ships.
22:51:36 - Kit: Could we get to the tender if we can loose those fighters and dont have to go at full acc all the way?
22:52:02 - StewartBailey: And that they should be in the general direction of where the fighers came from.
22:52:10 - Kraiger: (I think the "four" was in response to my question about number of vacc suits)
22:52:22 - Methuslah: (Yes)
22:52:42 - StewartBailey: So there are three additional contacts, right?
22:54:19 - Methuslah: (Yes.)
22:54:38 - Kit: the Zho ships should still be on the scan behind us. They were at the planet we left weren't they?
22:55:03 - StewartBailey: Silvaa, do you know of any additional Zhodani ships in this system?
22:55:06 - Kit: Can you try a focussed scan to see what they are?
22:55:24 - Kraiger: So these could be friendlies, the ones answering the Mayday? We may just scrape out of this yet!
22:57:04 - Methuslah: "We don't have the proper equipment."
22:57:14 - Methuslah: "Nothing - just the three carriers."
22:57:16 - Kraiger: So, what I'm thinking ... its pretty desperate, but may shake the fighters for a while. We stick the Commisar in a Vacc suit, then blow it an a second vacc suit out the airlock in different directions.... the fighters have _got_ to go after them...
22:57:34 - StewartBailey: (I assumed that the 6 I rolled for the additional detail took care of that.)
22:58:17 - Kraiger: OK, I'll try the communicator again - "Repeate, Mayday, Mayday. Cannot read you. This is Lt COl Kraiger on the Silve Silver, please repeat"
22:58:20 - Kit: I'm against blowing anyone out the arlock. The commissioner might be missed and might die. I'm against murder! We MAY try a bluff with an empty vacc suit though!
22:58:24 - StewartBailey: They may not stop, however. They probably can't pick him up, so they would just call in the position and continue after us.
22:58:57 - Kit: Yes, and have NO more compulsions against shooting at us.
23:00:11 - Methuslah: "Barely.........pow..........ele.............in..........ial.........bound."
23:00:35 - Kraiger: Not murder - just a high-speed prisoner exchange...
23:00:57 - StewartBailey: Let me see if I can tweak that comm system to make that signal more intelligible ( 2D6: 7)
23:01:06 - Kit: Not with me though. We can't get THAT desperate!
23:02:56 - Kraiger: I think these inbound ships are our only hope. Could we change course to rendezvous with them?
23:03:22 - Kit: Steward, repeat the signal, maybe we can puzzle the parts together if we get them a couple of times!
23:03:31 - Methuslah: "Barely read........cruisers..........eleven...........on." You've got the system on maximum power - anything more will blow the system.
23:04:30 - StewartBailey: Let me see what I can do ( 2D6: 3 if needed)
23:05:07 - Kit: Maybe we should also inform the ships that the station at Trane has been taken by the zhodani! Just in case they don't know.
23:05:38 - Methuslah: A crackle bursts from the communications station, and smoke begins to riseout of the maintainance panel. The fire alarm is sounding.
23:06:02 - Kit: Dammned! Whaddidya do (fetch fire extinguisher)
23:06:39 - StewartBailey: Maybe I should just stick to body pistols!
23:06:56 - Kit: (extinguish fire, fix damage if possible) Dammned iddiot. Mumble mumble
23:06:59 - StewartBailey: (I'll do whatever is necessary to control and eliminate the fire.)
23:07:43 - Kraiger: Ah crap...
23:07:59 - Kit: Now you stupid idiot probably ruined our communication. Great. Didn't they teach ya anythin where ya came from!!
23:08:35 - Methuslah: Several of the cicruits have melted, and a lot of the wiring is badly damaged. The communicator will take at least three hours to fix ( and three Engineering rolls, 6 or above).
23:09:36 - Kit: Now you RWALLY made a mess here, hand me my toolkit. And Kid, easy on the engine a bit, I'll need time to fix this (getting to work)
23:09:46 - Kraiger: So, did they _sound_ friendly? Those fighters aren't giving up...
23:10:09 - Kit: (proceeding with rolls) 2D6: 12
23:10:21 - Kit: 2D6: 8
23:10:34 - StewartBailey: Let me check how our engines are doing. I'd hate to lose those also.
23:10:38 - Kit: 2D6: 9
23:11:11 - Methuslah: OK - you will be able to fix it - it will take three hours, though.
23:11:43 - Kit: (curses and barely legible mumbling coming from crabby engineer half hidden under panel while fixing it)
23:12:42 - Kit: Now keep those Zho outa my hair for a few hour swill ya! Stupid idiots, always mistreating the equipment. No respect for machinery. Mumble mumble
23:15:28 - Kraiger: So, if we plot a rendezvous course with these ships, what would our ETA be?
23:16:04 - Methuslah: Make a Nav check - 7 or above, Stewart.
23:16:28 - StewartBailey: 2D6: 7
23:16:41 - StewartBailey: (This is not exactly my lucky day)
23:17:09 - Kit: (but 7 is enough isn't it?
)
23:17:13 - Methuslah: About nine hours if you push the engine to the limit.
23:18:03 - Kit: Don't do too much pushing. That baby is already giving her best!
23:18:45 - Kraiger: Well, I'm just a ground-pounder, but I would rather head for those ships than a bunch of rocks...
23:19:39 - Kit: (muffled from below the panel) Fine with me, just don't break any more equipment will ya!
23:19:59 - Kit: Im running outa chewing gum.
23:23:18 - Kraiger: So, run for the ships Stewart?
23:24:11 - StewartBailey: That seems to be the best plan.
23:25:26 - Kit: Im running outa chewing gum.
23:25:29 - Methuslah: "Changing course. Let's hope those engines hold out."
23:25:33 - Kraiger: OK, lets do it.... any food on this tub, all this panic has made me hungry...
23:26:00 - Kit: Get me a coffee while you're at it!
23:26:41 - Kit: And Kid... Believe in the Engine, and it will hold! It's your baby afta all!
23:27:01 - Methuslah: "Emergency Combat raions only. Case in the back."
23:27:32 - Kit: (btw. how long are we gonna be playing tonight? I am getting tired and after a weekend of convention-work, I'll be glad if I can fall into my bed)
23:27:48 - StewartBailey: (I second that...)
23:28:03 - Methuslah: (Agreed. This seems to be a good place to stop, anyway.)
23:28:54 - Kit: (and for once Kit is almost blissfully happy: she can fix things, is on a fast ship and can grumble and complain)
23:28:57 - Kraiger: Yum Combat rashions - not the usual clifhanger!
23:29:02 - Kit: (only coffee is missing
)
23:29:34 - StewartBailey: next week?
23:29:47 - Kraiger: Excellent game - thanks! Sorry I didn't let you have a blast on the PGMP Luther....
