Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log 27.10.2002
20:03:31 - Kit: But maybe I can now use the time to ask some general questions. In Most sci-fi universes that sport powerful noble families, those families usually have some kind of internal code or other way to hide private messages. Is such a thing also used in Traveller?
20:05:31 - Methuslah: I would say yes, any major family most likely would. I can't recall anything in the canon off hand, but it seems a logical extrapolation.
20:06:47 - Kit: The reason for my question is this: I do intedn to compile the data we collect on this whole Corporate Zhodani Conspiracy and send it, disguised as private and inconspicious messages via the family grapevine to Duke Aledon. (Greetings from Trane or somesuch). This Info may be useful to him.
20:06:58 - Kraiger just entered this channel
20:07:32 - Kit: I want to do this before we leave trane and use several different channels to make sure that one copy gets through.
20:07:56 - Kraiger: Hi there - did I get the time wrong after all that?
20:08:52 - Methuslah: No - you're spot on!
20:08:57 - Kit: If Trane has a tourist industry they probably do sell souvenirs. Ill get some to send to members of my family to disguise the whole matter. Would this be possible?
20:09:21 - Kit: Hello Kraiger. No, it seems you were the only one who got the time right
20:10:30 - Kraiger:
20:10:40 - Methuslah: That will be fine - you can send it via Xboat or on a ship heading towards Regina. It will take about a month, though. There are the usual 'tourist trap' souvenirs avaliable - hats, pieces of rock. There are a number of shops around you can look at when you get back to the town.
20:12:11 - Kit: OK, I will visit some of the shops as soon as I get the chance, and yes, I am aware of the fact that the messages will take time to reach their destination. But nevertheless, maybe they do prove useful to the duke or someone else from my family. If only as a warning that sometjing is up.
20:12:47 - Kit: To be sure I will send at least two packages via at least two different routes.
20:13:55 - Methuslah: OK.
20:17:05 - Kraiger: Could we please have a quick update on where we are?
20:18:19 - Kit: If I am not mistaken we are still playing tourist guides to a shipload of Zhodani Mindreaders on a boat froim the Trane aquatic safari company.
20:19:24 - Kit: Showing them around the charming littel villages of the primitives!
20:19:56 - Methuslah: Yes - you are heding out towards the Crashland Wreck, one of the major tourist attractions, on a beaten-up old hovercraft. Your Zhodani friends are looking out at the terrain in a rather bored fashion, talking to themselves more than looking at the scenary.
20:19:59 - Kit: And Kit has just turned from ratehr friendly to really really grumpy.
20:21:00 - Kit: I still try to imagine the zhodani in ...funny...poses from time to time and wathc for a reaction.
20:21:01 - StewartBailey: I believe that we had just hopped in the craft and were about to start our tour, right?
20:21:46 - Kit: We have already been on the tour long enough for the Zhodany to really annoy Kit.
20:22:21 - Methuslah: Yes - you were to head on a course around the 'floaters', towards Crashland Wreck, the wreck of the original colony ship.
20:23:25 - Kraiger: OK, I will lurk until you bring me in...
20:24:15 - Kit: I'm keeping a close eye on our esteemed guests and only occasionally take a look at the scenery.
20:25:43 - Methuslah: The Zho's are paying almost no attention to the terrain, but then there is not much to look at. The craft is travelling rather slowly, and you can feel the vibration of the engine in the background, straining away. Then, an object, light green on dark green, appears on the horizon.
20:27:18 - Kit: What are the Zho talking about?
20:28:21 - Methuslah: They seem to be speaking in their own tongue, and in rather low voices.
20:29:10 - Kit: If I recall correctly I have installed a transtalot hidden away under my communicator. So I should be able to understand what I can pcik up.
20:29:25 - Kit: Im certainly trying to.
20:30:29 - Methuslah: The translator cannot pick up everything, just isolated words.
20:30:48 - Methuslah: "Imperials........soon.......crystal.......that?"
20:31:16 - Kit: I activate the recorder for later analysis.
20:31:51 - StewartBailey: "I believe that it's time for me to check in with the station. They get worried if we don't do a comm check every half hour or so." And Bailer proceeds to do a radio check with the station above.
20:33:11 - Methuslah: The line is suffering quite a bit of interference - you really need to strain to work out what is being said.
20:33:30 - Kraiger: (Am I at the orbital still?)
20:33:47 - StewartBailey: That's in the comm to the station?
20:33:54 - Methuslah: "Barely read you. Meterology says a storm building up in your area - the interference is going to get worse."
20:34:23 - Methuslah: (You are in the hovercraft - slight reality shift.)
20:34:29 - Methuslah: Yes.
20:35:08 - StewartBailey: Let me see if I can tweak this radio a bit. (Modulate shield harmonics, or whatever.) 2D6: 7, comm-1
20:35:17 - Methuslah: The hovercraft is turning towards the green spot. It looks to be some sort of island. Gus points at it. "Floater"
20:35:20 - StewartBailey: Nothing better, eh?
20:35:28 - Kit: (ouch Kraiger, whater yer doin on my foot!!
)
20:35:32 - Kraiger: (Ah, I like those...)
20:36:15 - Kraiger: ey Gus, looks like some weather brewing over there (indicating sky)
20:36:25 - Methuslah: "That's better. Read you more clearly. I have your position on track now, sir. Message from the Commander - I will transmit text to your screen now. He says to make sure the tourists don't see it. Please confirm."
20:36:39 - Methuslah: "Nothing to worry 'bout, flyboy"
20:36:52 - StewartBailey: "Roger. Go ahead."
20:37:28 - Methuslah: The screen on your communicator warms up, and text begins to scroll across.
20:38:55 - Methuslah: "Scans indicate two of the the frigates are powering up auxiliary reactors. Could be engines or weaponry. The third has switched to an active scan of the planet surface, near your location. Suggest extreme caution, and advise not to count on station for emergency support. Please confirm response."
20:40:08 - StewartBailey: "Acknowledged. Hey, Kit, Kraiger, look at this, a message from Alex. He wishes he stayed with us. Take a look."
20:40:21 - Kraiger: (Kraiger scans the horizon acitvely)
20:40:40 - Kraiger: Hmmm....
20:41:01 - Kit: (takes message, scans it) Really thet idiot, first he tells us he doesnt like boats and now this. Wussy! (hands pad back)
20:41:26 - Methuslah: Your course appears to be taking you closer to the green island. Nothing else is visible - though the water is beginning to get choppy.
20:42:11 - StewartBailey: I delete the message, just in case, although the Zhodani certainly know what their ships are doing.
20:42:19 - Kit: (Keeping an alert look on our surroundings and especially on our guests)
20:43:38 - Kit: Eh, Gus. Do you have some coffee on board?
20:44:38 - Methuslah: "We don't drink it down here. Got grana-root tea."
20:45:06 - Methuslah: The Zhodani looks slightly more alert than before, almost alarmed. They have stopped taking, and are now looking out at the horizon, and the approaching storm.
20:45:20 - Kit: Grana root tea? Whatever it is, Im willing to give it a try.
20:45:26 - StewartBailey: (brb - real coffee)
20:45:47 - Kraiger: (Too the Zhodani) I guess you're not too used to storms where you come from?
20:46:22 - Kit: (mumbling) probably civilized their storms outa their worlds centuries ago
20:47:11 - Methuslah: "We use weather control. Storms are not permitted. Only barbarians like you would permit such things."
20:47:25 - Kit: Knew it!
20:48:16 - Kit: Well gentlemen, you will now learn the beuaty and fury of mother nature. Enjoy!! (BIIG Grin)
20:48:41 - Kraiger: Like us? (a little menacingly)
20:49:08 - Kit: We "Barbarians" are not afraid of Mother Nature. Only siss... err, weak people would be!
20:49:44 - Methuslah: "There is nothing beautiful about such destruction. YOur barbarity is proven by your lack of culture, and your misapplication of technology. When techniques can be used to improve a world, they should be."
20:49:58 - StewartBailey: Speak for yourselves. Being out in weather like this gives me the creeps. But then, just being outside does also.
20:50:54 - StewartBailey: Gus, how bad do you think this storm might get?
20:51:02 - Kit: Remains to be seen what is beautiful. How can you appreciate real beauty if you do not permit deviation from the norm?
20:51:08 - Methuslah: "This scares you?"
20:51:14 - Kraiger: *sigh* ahhh, the beauty of a truely closed mind is a wonderful thing...
20:51:42 - Kit: I LIKE storms. They are beautiful and wild, and I do think this one is gonne be great!
20:51:57 - Methuslah: The hovercraft is coming to a slow stop, near the island - which is visibly bobbing up and down. It appears to be a tangle of vines and leaves, with some unremarkable flowers, pale pink and red, peeking through.
20:52:18 - Methuslah: "This is one of the famous floating islands. Take a look, and a viddy if you want."
20:52:26 - StewartBailey: Storms should be watched from the inside of a nice safe protective atmospheric dome!
20:52:34 - Methuslah: "The wise avoid the wild, lest it contaminate them."
20:53:02 - Kraiger: (still scaning around - what are the Zhodani concentrating on?)
20:53:05 - Kit: Or lest they proove to weak to survive it eh?
20:53:27 - StewartBailey: I'll stick with the Zho if they decide to get out and look around.
20:54:05 - Kit: (mumbling) lest the wild contaminate them. Really, some people. Why dont they stay in their weather controlled glass dome worlds then!
20:54:42 - Methuslah: The Commissioner is paying attnetion to you - his aides are looking out at the sky, and pointing up. The two guides aer sitting in the front seats, looking bored.
20:55:30 - StewartBailey: Comissioner, do want to experience the floater firsthand, or do you prefer to just observe from here?
20:55:34 - Kit: (commissioner looking at me? Theres the picture of him in pink bunny slippers in my mind again. any reaction?)
20:56:46 - Kraiger: (I'll keep my eye on the other three - can I see what they're looking at?)
20:57:11 - Methuslah: "I would not trust my weight to it. Can you swim, Commander?"
20:57:18 - Methuslah: The Zho has no obvious reaction.
20:58:22 - StewartBailey: Quite well, actually, although this water is full of all sorts of things that would prefer to leave alone.
20:59:28 - Methuslah: "You done yet?"
21:00:52 - StewartBailey: Gus, I believe that we have seen enough. Is that true, Commissioner?
21:01:45 - Methuslah: "You may proceed."
21:02:02 - Methuslah: The Commissioner goes back to the others, and begins speaking in a low voice.
21:02:17 - Methuslah: "Storm.......back.......plan......fools!"
21:02:25 - Methuslah: Comes from the translator.
21:02:27 - Kit: I try to get close enough to pick up what theyre saying
21:02:32 - StewartBailey: (aisde) This is really strange...
21:03:33 - Methuslah: They have fallen silent now, but are still looking around at the horizon.
21:03:59 - Methuslah: The engine gives off a loud bang, then begins to turn over. The floating island begins to fall back as you head off again.
21:04:12 - StewartBailey: Gus, what's next?
21:04:29 - Kit: (to zho) 'verything ok with you?
21:05:43 - Methuslah: "Everything is well, except for this crude vehicle. I dread to think how badly maintained this has been."
21:06:02 - Methuslah: "The Wreck. Better buckle down flyboy, this gets a bit bumpy."
21:06:52 - Kit: Well, this Vehicle gets us where we want to go. Please take a seat and buckle up, it may get rough.
21:08:41 - Methuslah: The Zhodani all strap in, checking their seats. One has to change his seat when the belt comes away in his hand as he tries to strap it on.
21:09:24 - Kit: I hand Gus the broken strap.
21:09:42 - Kit: Hey Gus? Whats sthis?
21:10:43 - Methuslah: "SO pick another seat! Don't be so picky."
21:10:49 - Methuslah: He then truns away to look on the horizon.
21:11:45 - Kit: Its not me thats picky Gus, but our esteemed guests arent happy 'bout this. (wink) Is the storm gonna be rough? (mouth silently to him "plaes say yes")
21:13:12 - Methuslah: "Maybe. Better hold on."
21:13:56 - Methuslah: The water is really starting to get choppy. The hovercraft is beginning to be kncoked around by the waves. You can see a small grey speck on the horizon.
21:14:20 - Kit: (Good) Oh, yes I will. (turn to inform our guests) Gentlemen, please prepare for a rough ride.
21:14:35 - Kraiger: (I check it out with binoculars)
21:14:54 - Kit: (scanning the Zho's faces. Are they worried?)
21:16:37 - Methuslah: (You can see what appears to be an imperfect sphere, lodged on an outcropping of grey rock. The sphere is rather battered, with several gaping holes.)
21:17:06 - Methuslah: (One of the Zho's looks rather concerned. He is looking down at the growing waves, but the others continue to look ahead.)
21:17:55 - StewartBailey: Gus, what is that thing? (pointing to the sphere) How did it get there?
21:19:21 - Methuslah: "That's the Wreck. The 'Tyler Raini', our colony ship."
21:20:01 - Methuslah: "Captain couldn't find any good ground to set down on, so had to crash her down on that outcropping. Made for a miserable time, my grandpapy used to say."
21:20:57 - StewartBailey: (Must have been the "B" ark from the sounds of things.)
21:22:00 - Kraiger: ( :0 )
21:22:11 - Methuslah:
21:23:21 - StewartBailey: Should we consider stopping in the ship to get out of the storm?
21:25:13 - Methuslah: "Maybe. Course, the ship ain't much more than a shell."
21:26:22 - StewartBailey: Maybe safer than being out here. What do you guys think?
21:26:25 - Methuslah: "S'pose it might help. Be there in twenty minutes."
21:27:37 - Kit: I'm not too worried about the storm, but maybe our guests will feel better with a roof over their head. (looking at zho, what is their reaction)
21:28:45 - Methuslah: The Zho that showed some fear earlier is now sitting with his eyes closed, a hand on his stomach. The others are looking at his with mild contempt.
21:31:39 - Kit: (to Zho) Gentlemen, there is the option of taking temporary shelter in the old wreck. Would you prefer that to driving on?
21:31:59 - Kit: (to sick zho) are you all right sir?
21:32:34 - Methuslah: "If you feel that it is advisable. We have little knowledge of such extreme conditions. I agree that this wreck could hardly stand a gust of wind."
21:32:45 - Methuslah: The sick zho just nods a couple of times, sharply.
21:33:18 - StewartBailey: (I thought that he didn't speak our language?)
21:33:36 - Kit: Maybe you should (insert correct medical procedure for dealing with seasickness). It might help.
21:34:25 - Methuslah: (That is what you were told, certainly.)
21:34:46 - StewartBailey: (Exactly.)
21:34:51 - Methuslah: "We have our own methods of self-control. My aide will recover swiftly."
21:35:49 - Kit: OK, Whatever you want.
21:37:16 - Methuslah: The engine revvs up a little, and begins to splutter slightly. The wreck is drawing ever closer.
21:37:28 - Kit: (With the developing weather now on the horizont, how do I estimate the seaworthiness of the hoovercraft in inlement weather?)
21:38:02 - Methuslah: (Slim to none.)
21:38:38 - Methuslah: The waves are bginning to rock the boat, and water is being thrown into the compartment. The clouds are turning black swiftly.
21:38:39 - Kit: (life jackets or somesuch on board?)
21:39:02 - Kit: Thats some weather. (to Gus) will we reach the wreck in time?
21:39:26 - Methuslah: "Maybe."
21:39:53 - Kit: (in the back of my mins I am already examining various flotable parts of the boat for assembly of an emergency lifeboat)
21:40:09 - Methuslah: (You can see no lifebelts, or anything of the type. Under Kraiger's seat is a small box labelled "Eme ge cy".
21:40:17 - Kit: Can you go faster?
21:40:33 - Kraiger: (grinning fiercely at Zhodani) Did you learn such barbaric activities as swimming?
21:40:59 - Kit: (small? doesnt sound like much. Ill take a look at the content)
21:41:06 - Methuslah: "WE have a pool on the flagship. It is prized by the nobility."
21:41:29 - Methuslah: "Going as fast as we can. Running the motor too much - you'll be charged for the repairs."
21:41:48 - Kit: Say Gus, do you ever check the weatehr forecast 'fore setting out on a trip?
21:42:40 - Kraiger: Bet they don't have waves like this in your civilized pool
21:42:53 - Kit: (look at motor. Repairs necessary? Anything I could do?)
21:42:56 - Methuslah: It is about the size of a shoe box. IT contains three flares, one of the used, a tiny first aid kit (bandages and painkillers only), thre batteris and a deck of cards, with nearly a third obviously missing.
21:43:02 - Methuslah: "What weather forecast?"
21:43:29 - Methuslah: The motor is underneath the deck - you' have to take up some of the plating. It sounds as if it is simply worn out.
21:43:36 - Methuslah: "Certainly not!"
21:43:40 - Kit: Wow, great emergency equipment. I got more useful stuff in the pockets of my overall!
21:44:20 - Kit: You dont have a weather forecst here?
21:45:34 - Methuslah: "Not a free one. I ain't paying three credits for a forecast."
21:46:35 - Kit: You'd rather head out blindly into a storm eh? (Im beginning to agree with the zho about the pople of this planet, shocking!)
21:47:29 - Methuslah: "Looked allright when we left, missy."
21:48:45 - Kit: Theres Always signs of a coming storm, if you know where to look. Are you sure that you are in the right job?
21:50:51 - Methuslah: "I been here all my life. Don't need no outworlds telling me about storms."
21:51:05 - Methuslah: The engine gives another loud bang, and the craft begins to slow down.
21:51:21 - Kit: Then why are we about to get crushed in one? Eh?
21:51:42 - Kit: Now what?
21:52:12 - Methuslah: At that point, you feel a patter of rain on your shoulders.
21:52:26 - Kit: (Is the engine dead? Or what does it sound like?)
21:52:29 - Methuslah: The engine is really complaing now, and the wreck is still about five minutes away.
21:53:02 - Kit: (ripping out floorboards and starting to teke care of engine)
21:53:27 - Kraiger: (Kraiger is whistling gaily)
21:54:10 - Kit: Jeez Gus, whe's the last time someone cared for this machine?
21:56:59 - Methuslah: The engine is in a terrible condition. Parts are rusty, others worn too smooth. It is a primitive old internal combustion engine, which obviously has not seen any repair in decades. There is very little you can do for it. Smoke is beginning to rise out of the hole you have made.
21:57:13 - Methuslah: "Fifteen, twenty years back?"
21:57:33 - Kit: (I'll try whatever I CAN do to keep it running at least until we get to the wreck)
21:58:54 - Kit: Well Gus, Machines do require such a thing as regular maintenance. You take care of yourselves once in a while too, do you? Same with machines. Now steady. Maybe I can keep her going as far as the wreck.
21:59:24 - Kraiger: (I don't suppose I bought my swimming gear from my all-terrain survival kit, did I?)
21:59:31 - Methuslah: Make an Engineering roll.
21:59:46 - Kit: 2D6: 7
22:00:17 - Methuslah: You can keep the engine running just long enough to reach the wreck.
22:01:21 - Kit: Steer to the wreck Gus, steadily. She doesnt have much life left in her. (proceed to give him exact orders about speed and such, in between curses and complaints)
22:01:59 - Methuslah: "Who's driving this thing, huh!"
22:02:44 - Kit: If you evere wannna drive anything again, better do as I say. (tone of voice books no arguments)
22:04:05 - Methuslah: Gus grumbles under his breath, but does as you ask.
22:04:21 - Methuslah: A massive crash thunders across the horizon, and ligthing flashes down.
22:08:28 - Methuslah: As you slowly pull up to the wreck, the engine begins to die. Suddenly, you hear a hiss... from under the boat.
22:08:56 - Kit: (Steward Bailey fainted yet? I havent hered anythging from him for some time?)
22:09:14 - Kraiger: (How are the Zho taking all this?)
22:09:20 - StewartBailey: He's envying the sick Zho for having such an easy time of it.
22:09:39 - Kit: Dammned, probably something rippped the boat?
22:10:50 - Methuslah: The sick Zho is leaning over the side of the boat, the others are scrambling to their feet. You can see ths hip beginning to sink as the bag loses pressure.
22:10:52 - Kit: Everybody prepare to get off the boat quickly at my command!
22:11:09 - Methuslah: Gus and his brother have alrady jumped onto the rock, and are running into the wreck.
22:11:17 - Kit: (how far to the shore?)
22:11:35 - StewartBailey: Bailey helps the Zho out of the boat and then does his best to get out himself.
22:11:45 - Kit: I try to keep the boat steady: Everybody off NOW!
22:12:31 - Kraiger: (brings up the rear)
22:12:42 - Kit: (as soon as everybody is off, I try to grab a line or something to secure the boat if possible, failing that I try to grab any floatable items before I leave)
22:13:04 - Kraiger: (wary)
22:13:10 - Methuslah: A good jump across. The Zhos have moved to the front, and are making the jump.
22:13:49 - Kit: (anything useful as apaddle?)
22:15:39 - Methuslah: You could use some of the decking.
22:16:33 - Kit: Kraiger, here, take a plank help me paddle this thing to the shore. we must try to secure the boat
22:16:39 - Methuslah: The Zho have all crossed, except the sick one. He is standing still, looking at the gap, and the torrents of water below.
22:17:00 - Kit: Can you swim (to zho)
22:17:13 - StewartBailey: Bailey does his best to help the sick Zho, and follows him to shore.
22:18:21 - Methuslah: The Zho just shakes his head.
22:18:37 - Kit: Steward, can you swim?
22:18:38 - Methuslah: He puts his foot out across, but then retracts it.
22:18:52 - StewartBailey: If it looks like I can make with him, I'll pick him up and jump.
22:19:14 - Kit: Kraiger, help him, Ill see what I can do with the boat
22:19:55 - Kraiger: I'll do my best (try reassuring gestures)
22:20:22 - Kit: (I try to keep the boat close to the shore by paddling wildly
22:21:11 - Methuslah: Grabbing his will make the jump much more difficult - but you should be able to make it.
22:21:37 - Kraiger: (kraiger will steady Stewart and Zhodani)
22:21:43 - StewartBailey: OK. I grab him and make the jump...
22:21:51 - Kit: (I am also trying to look out for a way to secure the boats line and maybe pull the boat ashore someplace. We may yet need it. How steep is the shoreline?)
22:23:34 - Methuslah: YOu will need to roll 10 or less on 2d6.
22:23:48 - StewartBailey: 2D6: 5
22:23:59 - StewartBailey: No problem.
22:24:09 - Methuslah: There are ledges in the rock that can be jumped across, and a narrow, worn path up that looks somewhat treecherous. Other than that the rock is next to vertical.
22:24:25 - Methuslah: You make the jumjp across with ease, and the Zho with you.
22:24:58 - Kit: (could I secure the boat somewhere?)
22:25:03 - StewartBailey: After landing, I lead the Zho up the path to the relative safety of the crashed ship.
22:27:05 - Methuslah: The boat is finished. The bag is now almost totally deflated, adn the storm is getting higher by the minute. The waves are beginning to fill the compartment with water.
22:27:57 - Kit: Kraiger, get off. (I try to grab whatever usefull stuff I can (floatables, lines etc.) and get off as well)
22:28:06 - Kraiger: (I am still wary - not sure what surprises may be waiting for us here)
22:28:23 - Kraiger: (Follows Stewart)
22:30:06 - Methuslah: There is little that can be salavged in the time - some ropes lying on the deck and the 'emergency kit'.
22:30:35 - Methuslah: Just as Kit leaps off, the ship begins its final plunge. Within a minute, it has gone down.
22:30:56 - Kit: (Ill take whatever I can and get off)
22:32:04 - Kit: Dammnable idiots. Another fine machine down just 'cause the stupid humand di'nt take proper care of it. Gus and his people should be drwan and quaredered for this. grumble grumble.
22:33:50 - Kit: (still grumbling I take alook around. Assuming the worst case Storm i can imagine I try to find the best spot for shelter on the wreck and then take everyboda there)
22:34:14 - Methuslah: The storm is still worsening. The sky is totally black, and the rain is crashing down. Lightning pierces the sky.
22:34:39 - StewartBailey: Into the crashed ship! Come on!
22:34:46 - Methuslah: Most of the others have dispersed. Gus have his brother, and most of the Zhodani, have disappeared. Only the one you rescured remains.
22:35:19 - Kit: You ok? (to zho)
22:35:23 - Kraiger: (Still brining up the rear - I draw my pistol...)
22:35:33 - Methuslah: THe wreck looms large above you, maybe a hundred feet high. There are numerous entrances into the ship - some man-made, others natural.
22:35:45 - Methuslah: "I am...recovering."
22:36:11 - StewartBailey: (He does speak our language!)
22:36:27 - Kit: Come with us (I try to evaluate the wreck, find the best (structurally most sound) place for shelter and proceed there.
22:37:03 - StewartBailey: I lead the recovering Zho up and into the nearest entrance, or wherever I saw the others disappear to.
22:38:26 - Methuslah: Looking in, there appear to be a maze of corridors leading in. Graffiti covers most of the walls, and most of the equipment has been torn away. You would say that low down might be the best place - though the wreck looks far from safe.
22:39:06 - StewartBailey: I yell into the ship, "Gus! Where are you guys?"
22:39:55 - Kit: (I try to find the safest possible place and then take a look ath the zho. Is he really ok or are there signs of shock?)
22:41:50 - Methuslah: "Gus! Where are you guys?" comes back to you from the corridors. The zho seems to be recovering, now taht he is back on dry land.
22:42:31 - StewartBailey: Without any response from Gus I try to follow any wet footprints.
22:43:05 - Kit: Try to relax sir. You are safe now. Whats your Name?
22:43:30 - Methuslah: "Call me Silvaa."
22:44:39 - Kit: OK Silvaa, just sit down here and relax. We are sheltered from the storm here, though it may get cold. If you start to freeze, please tell me, there may be a danger of shock. Understood?
22:45:16 - Methuslah: "I comprehend."
22:45:46 - Methuslah: The whole ground is wet - any tracks are not present on the bare rock. There is no indication of where the others went.
22:46:23 - Kit: Good. We will find the others shortly. As sson as the storm dies down we will signal for help. Don'Ät worry.
22:47:01 - Kraiger: *Kraiger snoops around for other signs of where they went (recon - 1)
22:47:44 - Methuslah: Make your roll : 9 with the difficulty from the storm.
22:48:22 - Kraiger: 2D6: 6
22:50:07 - Methuslah: You can see a piece of cloth torn off on a sharp piece of metal, at the entrance to a corridor.
22:53:06 - Kraiger: (Are we relatively safe and sheltered here?)
22:54:19 - Methuslah: The wind is blowing through the corridors, but you seem to be safe from the storm.
22:55:27 - Kit: I dont like this. Why did they run off so far, and they just left their colleague (pints to Silvaa) behind.
22:56:01 - Kit: (to silvaa) is this typical behaviour in your culture? Just leaving someone behind?
22:56:08 - Kraiger: (I'll have a quick scout for the others - you wait here.
22:56:10 - Methuslah: Testing.
22:56:29 - Methuslah: "Maybe it is because I am not like them."
22:56:32 - Kraiger: (Kraiger, pistol ready, moves a short way doen the corridor)
22:56:49 - Kit: OK Kraiger, be careful, this wreck isnt't completely safe. There may be areas not structurally sound.
22:57:10 - Methuslah: The corridor looks as if it goes on for about fifty meters, then comes to a T-junction.
22:57:10 - Kit: Not like them? But you are a Zhodani, are you not?
22:58:25 - Kraiger: (Kraiger is in recon mode, moves down to the T junction)
22:58:47 - Kraiger: (We've got communicators, right? I'll test that I can call the others)
22:59:08 - Methuslah: "But I am not a strong telepath, not an Intendant or Noble."
22:59:19 - Methuslah: The communicator gives out nothing but static.
23:00:08 - Kit: You mean just because you are not a telepath or noble tehy just leave you behind and don't even try to help you?
23:00:08 - StewartBailey: "So the others are strong telepaths?"
23:01:04 - Methuslah: "All the Intendants are strong, but not as strong as the Nobles. I am nearly psi-null."
23:02:25 - Kit: That still doesnt explain why they won't even try to help you.
23:03:58 - Methuslah: "I am of the Prole class - they consider me less than...."
23:07:05 - Kit: Well I'm certainly not gonna play judge to your curture, I do know enough arrogant and selfish humans. But still, most humans would try to cooperate and help each other, especially in an emergency. It's instinct.
23:07:05 - StewartBailey: "Why did they bring you along on this trip?"
23:07:37 - Methuslah: "I am a specialist in barba...alien cultures."
23:07:47 - Kit: Do you have any Idea why they have just run off. Getting separated here can't be good for any of us?
23:08:25 - StewartBailey: "But why they need you to come down here? Surely they could recover what they come for without your help?"
23:09:04 - Kit: Specialist in barbarian cultures eh? What is more barbaric: Not controlling every aspect of ones environment or just leaving a comarade behind because he is of a lesser class?
23:09:06 - Methuslah: "I don't know why we came. They would not tell me. I know that I owe you my life."
23:10:27 - Kit: But you did come down here for more than just sightseeing. isn't tha so?
23:10:52 - Methuslah: "I would agree with you. 'Barbaric' is mearly a term used to describe cultures not our own. In pure sense, no insult is implied."
23:11:02 - Methuslah: "They sought something. I know not what."
23:11:44 - StewartBailey: Maybe something was left for them on this ship? Did they discuss coming here at all?
23:12:38 - Kraiger: (Do I find any more signs?)
23:13:59 - Methuslah: You cannot see anything obvious. Two corridors head left and right, with little to distinguish them.
23:16:43 - Kraiger: I'll walk left for a little way, and head back if I see nothing of interest
23:18:12 - Methuslah: You can see some evidence of recent habitation - a dead battery dropped on the floor. YOu can see no footprints or over tracks, however.
23:19:58 - Kraiger: (Head right a little way, then back to join the others if I find nothing)
23:20:11 - Kit: (just a question: how long do you plan on gaming tonight. Its past mdnight here and I'm starting to get tired)
23:20:44 - Methuslah: To the rght you see some evidence of work on the ship. A half-can of oil is sitting on the floor, and a maintainance hatch has been removed to expose the machinery beneath.
23:21:06 - Methuslah: ((This seems like as good abreakpoint as any.)
