Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log 18.08.2002
19:37:38 - Kraiger: (Kraiger wanders out, looking a little groggy but none the worse for wear)
19:38:00 - Kraiger: Damn I hate that bio-terrorist stuff!
19:38:14 - AlexColeman: Have a nice nap?
19:38:35 - StewartBailey: With Kraiger and Coleman together again, we will need all the low berth space we can get
19:38:53 - Kraiger: (rye grin) yeah... now I'm _all_ refreshed. Where's the coffee?
19:39:16 - AlexColeman: Personally I think Capt Arturo and some of his men are hijacking this ship
19:39:20 - StewartBailey: The Baronness is the usual POC, I believe.
19:39:21 - Methuslah: How did your game go, Kraiger?
19:40:13 - Kraiger: (Excellent thanks Meth)
19:40:34 - Kraiger: '0 You think _Arturo_ is behind this?
19:41:15 - AlexColeman: How much can you trust him his other ship is on that list
19:42:20 - Kraiger: No, he's from the Wild Cowboy - which isn't on the list, so maybe he is one of the few people we _can_ trust...
19:42:35 - AlexColeman: In fact those names on the list are all probably enemy spies or agents
19:44:11 - Kraiger: We caught these ones, but we'd better tip them off about the others...
19:44:15 - AlexColeman: We're darn lucky not to be dead now, this is a mess
19:44:48 - AlexColeman: Not even two days in jump and we're at rope's end, almost
19:45:18 - Kraiger: Here's what I'm thinking... I _think_ we can trust Arturo, but I'm not certain...
19:45:57 - Kraiger: So I'm going to give him the list of names we got...
19:46:19 - Kraiger: But I'm going to change it a little before I do so... se what his reaction is to that....
19:46:30 - Kraiger: We may be able to tell if he already knew about the spies...
19:46:43 - StewartBailey: Maybe add his name to it...
19:46:46 - AlexColeman: Clever
19:47:54 - Kraiger: Not sure about putting his name, but if we can get a crew manifest of his ship, we could add the name of somebody he knows....
19:48:28 - AlexColeman: Get that in security, let's go
19:49:42 - Methuslah: You can get a partial listing from the computer - that of his ship's senior officers.
19:50:06 - StewartBailey: (I seem to recall that we just got relieveed by Arturo and his men. It might be a good time to get some rest, also.
19:50:09 - Kraiger: (Kraiger puts together a list, skipping " Navigator Jones, to the Tombstone", and adding one from the navigator from the Wild Cowboy.)
19:50:27 - Methuslah: OK.
19:50:46 - Kraiger: Stewart, I just woke up!
19:51:19 - Methuslah: To simplify matters, let us say that it is the folloiwng morning. Also, for the benefit of the log, the game has begun.
19:51:45 - Kraiger: (Sorry, over eager....
)
19:52:07 - StewartBailey: (I think that we can safely assume that Kit goes to make sure that coffee is available for us.)
19:52:27 - Methuslah:
19:52:30 - Kraiger: (Are we expecting Andrea?)
19:53:25 - Methuslah: I think so - I haven't heard that she will be missing.
19:55:21 - Kraiger: Shall we go talk to Arturo gentlemen?
19:55:42 - StewartBailey: After waking up, I head to the bridge to relieve Arturo and see what's happened while we slept.
19:56:30 - Kraiger: Kraiger follows with his "list"
19:56:51 - AlexColeman: (follows)
19:58:09 - Methuslah: You arrive on the bridge to see things much different from las tnight. Arturo is perched in the captain's chair, with one of the maintainance techs standing at Flight Engineering. The navigation station has been repaired, and seems oeprational, though both the pilot and navigation stations are empty. Arturo is speaking into a recorded, and hasn't noticed your entrance.
19:58:52 - StewartBailey: Good morning, Captain. Maybe it's evening. Time is always tricky while in jump.
19:58:56 - Kraiger: (Stay quiet and listen for a few seconds)
20:01:01 - Methuslah: "...refit the cargo bay lighting systems, Priority to repair of entertainment system, Jenkins, that's for you. Lllangon, work on the sensor and communication systems..." says Arturo into the reocrder, before looking up at you in surprise.
20:01:27 - StewartBailey: How are the repairs coming?
20:01:34 - Methuslah: "Sorry, gentlemen. I was just recording some repair orders for the day. Did you get a good night's sleep?"
20:01:47 - AlexColeman: going to security check in with you later (turns and leaves)
20:02:17 - Methuslah: "Well, there seem to be no additional problems, anyway. Except that the entertainment system went down around midnight. A few of the passengers have been complaining."
20:02:21 - Kraiger: See you Alex - Yes Captain, thank you.
20:03:11 - StewartBailey: So we are going to make it to Trane in one piece after all?
20:03:51 - Methuslah: "I think so. It'll take all our time to do it, though. Full watches of all of us, back to back. A lot of the computer systems have gone."
20:04:20 - Methuslah: (You find the security office empty. There is an odd feeling - certain objects have been moved, objects that should be moved, like the desk and chair.)
20:05:00 - StewartBailey: We managed to find some interesting information in the part of the system that was undamaged.
20:05:33 - Kraiger: Captain, if you have a moment, I would like to discuss something with you...
20:05:42 - Methuslah: "Oh?"
20:06:25 - AlexColeman: (read up on status reports and try to determine what the other vistor was interested in)
20:06:52 - Kraiger: Can we talk somewhere quietly?
20:07:37 - Methuslah: (The most recent refers to the death of the prisoner. There is also another interesting report on one of the brokers shipping cargo, something about extra security being required. This report is slightly crumpled, which is why you noticed it.)
20:07:52 - Methuslah: "Who will take the bridge?"
20:08:23 - Kraiger: Stewart, would you mind...?
20:08:24 - StewartBailey: I will relieve you, Captain.
20:09:44 - Methuslah: "I stand relieved? Where shall we talk, Mr. Kraiger?"
20:10:14 - Kraiger: In your cabin, perhaps?
20:11:39 - Methuslah: "Very well. I was planning on turning in anyway - its been a long night."
20:12:05 - Kraiger: Please lead the way...
20:12:45 - Methuslah: "Fine."
20:13:31 - Methuslah: Arturo gets up and walks through the door, down the corridor to his cabin. He is fairly quiet for much of the way, amking a few comments about damaged systems you pass. YOu come to his cabin, 012, and he motions you in.
20:13:32 - Kraiger: (Folows Arturo to his cabin...)
20:14:06 - Methuslah: "Now, Mr Kraiger - what do you wish to talk about?"
20:15:33 - Kraiger: As you may know Captain, the purser of this ship was part of the organisation who performed the sabotage...
20:16:02 - Methuslah: "Yes. Have you any idea who that might have been?"
20:16:06 - Kraiger: We found some documentation that suggest sabatoeurs may also have been placed on the other BT ships.
20:16:38 - Kraiger: And it is clear that they work for McClellan Factos
20:17:44 - Methuslah: "That seems logical. The tradewar still continues, covertly."
20:18:36 - Kraiger just entered this channel
20:19:05 - Methuslah: "Wait a minute - more saboteurs? Let me see this proof!"
20:19:09 - Methuslah: Problem?
20:19:13 - Kraiger: Captain, I have information giving names of saboteurs on other BT ships, including your own.
20:20:08 - Kraiger: (Shows him the list I made) I extracted this from information we found in the Purser's records - I am not 100% sure of the list, but it seems likely that it is correct.
20:20:43 - Methuslah: "My navigator! A traitor! Absolutely impossible. I have known him for years."
20:21:33 - Kraiger: How about the other names Captain, do you know them?
20:23:01 - Methuslah: "I know Illianti. Good man - top class engineer."
20:24:01 - Kraiger: But do you think it is possible _he_ is a traitor?
20:24:51 - Methuslah: "He always did act a bit strangely - and I never knew him socially. I might by Illianti. But my navigator - never!"
20:25:55 - Kraiger: I am still checking the data Captain - as I said, I am not 100% sure of this list. In any case, think it over - there are traitors in our very midst,, so we must be very careful about who we trust...
20:27:09 - Methuslah: "I will watch, but reallistically there is little we can do. We barely have enough men to run the ship, never min watchng each other also."
20:27:11 - Kraiger: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Captain - in any case, there is nothing we can do until we get to Trane...
20:28:00 - Kraiger: (Kraiger excuses himself and leaves - heads back to bridge)
20:28:17 - Methuslah: "Very well. Let us keep this in mind. Now if you don't mind, i'd like to get some sleep."
20:29:10 - Kraiger: (*comm* to Alex) Hows security looking Alex?
20:30:18 - AlexColeman: (comm to Kraiger) Lookin over some papers
20:30:59 - Kraiger: (*comm to Alex) OK, I'll be on the bridge with Stewart...
20:31:17 - AlexColeman: Need to probably find one of the passengers and look at his cargo.
20:31:37 - AlexColeman: Maybe look first then ask him about it?
20:32:40 - Kraiger: OK - I think the cargo hold is still in vacuum - want to meet me at the airlock?
20:33:03 - AlexColeman: (leaves security lookin for passenger on cargo manifest)
20:34:23 - AlexColeman: Meet me at stateroom (# where passenger is)
20:34:44 - Methuslah: The passenger appears to be one of those placed in low berth - apparent spinal wound. There is very little in the files, though. He was in stateroom 005.
20:34:58 - Kit just entered this channel
20:35:10 - Kit: Hi, sorry about the delay.
20:35:36 - AlexColeman: (what is list as the cargo contents requiring special guard?)
20:35:41 - Methuslah: No problem.
20:36:08 - Kraiger: (Heads to stateroom 05)
20:36:21 - AlexColeman: Hey Kit
20:37:09 - Kraiger: Greetings Kit - I believe the coffee is still hot...
20:37:17 - Methuslah: There is no information - just the 'special security' notification. The cargo manifest does not give a listing either - just 'bulk materials'.
20:38:00 - AlexColeman: (head to stateroom 05 and meet Kraiger)
20:39:18 - Kit: Great, gimme some of thet coffee, what a night.
20:39:29 - Kit: Anything new up?
20:39:32 - Methuslah: The door to the room is locked - from the inside.
20:39:56 - StewartBailey: (remember to knock twice...)
20:40:19 - AlexColeman: (knock twice)
20:40:40 - Kraiger: Ahhmm, Kit? Sorry to disturb your coffee, but we may need some of your magic down here...
20:41:20 - Kit: Will I EVER get to drink my coffee hot on this ship? Well OK, Im coming (Heading there)
20:41:41 - Kit: So what is up?
20:41:44 - Methuslah: No-one answers the door.
20:42:31 - Methuslah: The door has been securely locked and bolted from the inside.
20:42:49 - Kit: Who or what is supposed to be in this Room?
20:43:52 - AlexColeman: The passenger for this room is in cold sleep and has security cargo aboard and I was gonna look around a bit
20:44:13 - AlexColeman: To see what is is
20:44:51 - AlexColeman: If possible would you open it?
20:45:06 - Methuslah: It'll need at 9 or better.
20:45:13 - Kit: Ah I see. (Ill look at the door and see how it can be opened or circumvented. If necessary we can use a cutter, but if possible Ill try without damaging anything)
20:45:19 - Methuslah: To pick the lock.
20:45:33 - Methuslah: A cutter would be automatic, but would take time.
20:45:48 - Kit: Try the picking first 2D6: 10
20:46:00 - Kit: voila!
20:46:53 - AlexColeman: Thank you! (go in and search)
20:47:01 - Kraiger: No Abracadabera this time?
20:47:06 - Methuslah: The door quickly slides open, to reveal a man with a pistol pointed at you. His left hand is resting on a hand computer that has been wired into his cabin's console. The room itself is a mess, bitas and pieces all over the place.
20:47:25 - Kit: Not without coffee :-)
20:47:49 - Kit: throw wrench at him and duck
20:48:18 - AlexColeman: Why didn't you answer the knock?
20:48:22 - Kit: (I donT necessarily mean to hit him, but a distraction would be nice)
20:48:25 - Kraiger: Diving to floor, draw pistol...
20:48:54 - Methuslah: The man looks dead straight at you, without moving his eyes.
20:49:10 - Methuslah: "Do an about face and leave, or I deactive the ship's envirnomental systems."
20:49:20 - Kraiger: (Cover him with pistol, out of his line of fire)
20:49:49 - Kit: (can I somehow disconnect his cabins console from the outside? If Yes, I will do so IMMEDIATELY)
20:50:02 - AlexColeman: And then what?
20:50:18 - Methuslah: (You can, but it will take some time, and you will have to go to the computer section.
20:50:23 - AlexColeman: What do you want?
20:50:45 - Kit: (will RUSh to the comp section ) Whisper: Guiy, buy me some time!
20:51:13 - AlexColeman: Let's talk
20:51:51 - Kraiger: (*comm to Stewart) Stewart, trouble in Cabin 05 - can you overiride the ships environment systems?
20:51:56 - Methuslah: "I want you to leave. You will not disturb me, and will give me safe passage off this ship."
20:52:23 - StewartBailey: (What can I do from the bridge?)
20:52:39 - Kraiger: OK, we _all_ want to live through this, right? We'll do what you want
20:53:21 - AlexColeman: Sure thing but we still have days before Trane
20:53:37 - Methuslah: (You can try and block his commands. It will take an 10 or better however. From the computer room it will be 7 or better, with mods for skill.)
20:53:59 - AlexColeman: I haven't stepped into the room, your space just was curious about the locked door
20:54:12 - Kit: (Just tell me, when I have reached the computer room)
20:54:14 - Methuslah: "And if that damn fool Doctor had covered his tracks right, this mess wouldn't have taken place. Look, I'm working under company orders, classified and secret. Just get out!"
20:54:20 - AlexColeman: Are you (name of cargo owner)?
20:54:30 - Methuslah: (In about four minutes, real time.)
20:54:38 - Kraiger: _Which_ Company???
20:54:54 - Methuslah: "That is none of your business, and furthermore is classified"
20:55:01 - Methuslah: "Yours!"
20:55:19 - StewartBailey: (comm to Kraiger) What's going on down there? The environment systems appear to be OK.
20:55:48 - Kraiger: (* We've got a mad-man down here - says he's going tos hut down the environmentals..)
20:56:08 - AlexColeman: So if we're on the same side why do you threaten the life support?
20:56:14 - Kraiger: So, we're all on the same side then! You don't have to threaten us, we'll help you.
20:56:38 - AlexColeman: Put the gun down, we work for the same team
20:56:39 - StewartBailey: Crap. Who can get to the computer room the fastest? That's probably the best place to try something.
20:57:03 - Kit: Im on my way there now Steward!
20:57:56 - Kit: Should be there in a Minute, but im NOT the geratest computer wizard in the world
20:58:18 - Methuslah: "I have a mission to complete! The cargo must reach Trane, unopened and unsealed. No interference can be toler...ated."
20:58:27 - AlexColeman: Your secret mission is still basically a secret, right?
20:58:50 - StewartBailey: (note to self - these civilian ships have incredibly bad security - make sure that we fix this on the Prometheus.)
20:59:06 - StewartBailey: Do what you can, Kit.
20:59:10 - Kit: (Unopened an Unsealed? Isnt that somewhat contrary?
)
20:59:40 - Kraiger: (Toler...ated - is this guy high or something?)
20:59:48 - Methuslah: "The fact that you are hear mea..ns that it has been violated. You should forget what has happened here. Just get the ship to Trane. I wish I knew why the company put you on board anyway, it only attracted attention to my mission."
21:00:16 - Methuslah: (Ah - I meant unopened and sealed. Oops.)
21:00:22 - AlexColeman: Unopened and sealed, ok, do I need to tell my security guard to watch it as well?
21:00:37 - Kraiger: OK (backing away), we're all part of the same team - just get on with your mission, we won't interfere..
21:01:13 - Methuslah: "Just don't touch it! It is very...delicate. And keep it away from any Imperial snoopers."
21:01:13 - Kit: (OK I should be in teh Comp Room now. Ill try to prepare things so that I can easily turn him off at a buttons press but Ill wait till I actually do it. Roll: 2D6: 10
21:01:22 - Methuslah: (Kit - you are in computer section.)
21:01:46 - Kit: Com: Ok Guys, If you wnat me to turn him off, just say Action!
21:02:16 - AlexColeman: Look it's your cargo you keep it away from Imperial snoopers, I watch it on the ship until we reach Trane
21:02:54 - StewartBailey: Do it!
21:03:21 - AlexColeman: we don't want any of your action, ok?
21:03:24 - Methuslah: The computer deactivates. The man looks to his side and frantically begins tapping at the controls, his attention broken.
21:03:33 - Kit: Was that to me Steward?
21:03:39 - Kraiger: Diving!
21:03:47 - StewartBailey: Yes.
21:03:51 - Kit: Hes cut off now!
21:03:51 - AlexColeman: (jump him )
21:04:02 - AlexColeman: (grab gun)
21:04:09 - Kraiger: (Disarm him, and get him away from his computer - brawling 1)
21:04:24 - Kraiger: 2D6: 6
21:04:43 - Methuslah: You catch him square in the face. Roll 2d6 for damage.
21:04:47 - AlexColeman: 2D6: 4
21:04:53 - Kraiger: 2D6: 7
21:05:31 - StewartBailey: *remember my earlier comment about space in the low berths...)
21:05:34 - Methuslah: He is still consious, but he raisees his hands in surrender, knocekd back to the floor.
21:06:21 - Kraiger: (Ensure he is secure - no gun, no computer)
21:07:08 - AlexColeman: Personally I think we ought to tranqulize the whole passenger list not working on the ship
21:07:09 - Methuslah: The gun has been knocked to the floor, and the computer is off - crashed.
21:07:26 - Kraiger: ( Are there more saboteurs than passengers on this ship?
21:07:51 - AlexColeman: Make this job easier
21:08:07 - Kraiger: (Keep him covered with my pistol) OK, you've got some _serious_ explaining to do Mister!
21:08:29 - Kraiger: Alex, lets get this guy to security
21:08:46 - Kit: Alex, I dont think we have enough medical personell to wathc them. Tranquilized people need constant supervision in case some problems develop. And how many more Saboteurs Do you think are aboard? Weve had quite a handfull of them already!
21:08:48 - Methuslah: "A secret company project. Transporting a load of...materials to Trane."
21:09:31 - Kraiger: (*Comm to Kit) - Kit, I think this guy may need medical attention - fast
21:09:46 - StewartBailey: Kraiger, what's going on down there?
21:10:26 - Kraiger: (*comm to Stewart) The situation is secure - looks like this guy is a whack-job...
21:10:30 - AlexColeman: (Render aid to injuries Medic -2)
21:10:49 - AlexColeman: 2D6: 7
21:10:51 - StewartBailey: What did he want?
21:10:56 - Kit: Ok Doc is coming!
21:11:21 - Kraiger: (Sorry Alex - forgot you could patch them as well as shoot them!
)
21:11:46 - Kit: Really, with all the rushing around I do on this ship, I should request pay by mile.
21:12:05 - Methuslah: The injuries are fairly minor - he's just got a slight concussion.
21:12:11 - Kraiger: (* Syas he's on a mission for BT, transporting material to Trane - but may just be a crazy...
21:12:36 - StewartBailey: Do you have any reason to believe him?
21:12:50 - Kraiger: (* He was threatening to shut down life support - not sure if thats even possible, but we couldn't take a chance - but we _didn't_ air him out! )
21:13:19 - Kit: His mission might be legitimate or not, but considering the problems weve already had, Im NOT willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, unless he can provide some kind of Proof.
21:13:36 - AlexColeman: May be we should look around the room for info and question him?
21:14:01 - StewartBailey: Lock him up. What materials was he transporting? The high-security cargo?
21:14:07 - Methuslah: "Not crazy. I have orders. The material is illegal, that's why no record. I was schdueled to go into low berth anyway, to avoid questions. The explosion changed the plans."
21:14:24 - AlexColeman: Yep that cargo
21:14:47 - StewartBailey: Any idea what it is?
21:14:55 - Kit: Illegal Cargo? What exactly?
21:15:20 - AlexColeman: .(to mr crazy) What is the cargo?
21:17:06 - Methuslah: "A case of components for space nuclear missiles."
21:17:52 - AlexColeman: Fissiles or just components?
21:19:15 - Methuslah: "Some experimental TL 16 components from the Darrian Confederation. Illegal under Imperial law."
21:20:34 - Kit: Sabotage, Assassins, illegal Bombs. I definitely don't like the direction this trade war is taking!
21:20:44 - AlexColeman: Darrian components no reactive cores, right?
21:21:26 - AlexColeman: (to Kit) Or this company we just started to work for
21:22:25 - Kit: Well War is war, this ones just very dirty. But I agree as to the company. We should be VERY careful.
21:22:33 - Methuslah: "No. But they are military-grade components of a foreign power. They also include power cores, small fusion devices. They are somewhat unstable if mishandled. I was sent to accompany them, and ensure no one inspected them.
21:22:50 - Kraiger just entered this channel
21:23:00 - Kraiger: (Sorry - net porblems)
21:23:37 - Kit: How did ya intend to do that from low berth?
21:24:06 - Methuslah: "Buddy, this is war. It isn't pretty, it isn't respectable, and it isn't clean. It IS necessary."
21:25:02 - Methuslah: "I was to supervise loading and unloading. The medic is one of our operative, he was to have seen about the shipment en route. No-one else knew about it. Nothing would have happened if you weren't on board, MF would never have known anything!"
21:25:07 - AlexColeman: A covert nuclear trade war, huh?
21:25:47 - Kraiger: How did we manage to get mixed up in all this?
21:25:52 - Methuslah: "WE didn't start the war. We hope to finish it."
21:26:16 - Kit: Well organization and coordination within the company doesnt seem to be very good eh. It wasnu s who picked this Flight, BT put us on it.
21:27:09 - Kraiger: (to guy) Do you have any ID, any proof that what you say is true?
21:27:34 - AlexColeman: Tell you what, you'll be able to finish your mission
21:27:58 - Kit: Is the Medic one of the low Berth patients or is he available for a littel talk?
21:27:58 - AlexColeman: Once we get to Trane I'm going back
21:28:23 - Kit: Lets ask him 'bout his side of the story.
21:28:27 - Methuslah: He pulls a wallet ouf of his pocket. It contains a BT ID card, with his picture. He then hands you a copy of his orders, signed by the President of BT, proving what he has said.
21:28:37 - AlexColeman: Nuclear devices delivered covertly is not my idea of war, it is insanity.
21:29:23 - Kit: War is ALWAYS Insane!
21:29:41 - Kraiger: Well, _I_ thought the war was over - maybe that was a little naive...
21:29:48 - Kit: Nevertheless, It seems to be the favourite pasttime of mankind.
21:30:10 - AlexColeman: And seeing that the president of the company is pursuing this tactic, I gonna have to quit once we reach Trane
21:30:23 - Methuslah: "The war began about eighteen months ago, when MF attacked one of our trade convoys - with nuclear missiles, I might add. We've been defending mostly ever since, but with a few targetted strikes on combat installations. To be blunt, we're losing. Badly. So badly that we have been pushed out of two subsectors. We only have a few worlds in Glisten, and Pax Rulin. On top of that, we have evidence that MF has....foreign backers."
21:30:33 - Kraiger: OK, you are who you say you are, but you pulled a gun on us and threatened our lives - so, _you_ are sitting the rest of this trip out in the brig.
21:30:38 - Kit: You really wanna Quit Alex?
21:31:24 - StewartBailey: Guys, what have you found out so far?
21:31:37 - Methuslah: "I expected that. You were never to have known anything about this, and I am sorry to have involved you."
21:31:45 - AlexColeman: Nuclear devices are not fun to be close to when they explode
21:32:07 - Methuslah: "I know that. Too well."
21:32:22 - Kraiger: '0 (to guy) So what do you know of our mission? It was supposed to be simple exploration - but I think there's more to it than that...
21:32:51 - Kit: Being blown up by a Bomb in Jumpspace isnt either, ant MF tried that with us! Remember!
21:32:56 - AlexColeman: If our company can't get Imperial help with this nuke issue, it's moot as far as I'm concerned
21:33:35 - Kit: (Ill give Steward a short summary of the facts)
21:33:38 - Kraiger just entered this channel
21:34:07 - Methuslah: "We have learned some rather dsitrubing things about the Factors. With Santanocheev's son a VP in MF, the Imperium is helping them. But they also operate in the Sword Worlds, and in Foreven. We susepct that - the Zhodani are involved. This war is not for profits."
21:34:10 - AlexColeman: (to Kit) Yes, I will quit and go back to Glisten and try to get even further
21:34:30 - StewartBailey: Have you checked the cargo to see if what he's saying is true? Maybe something else is really in the crate. Nothing has been quite what we have expected so far.
21:35:50 - AlexColeman: Might be a biological weapon, don't want that going around the ship
21:36:03 - Kit: Zhodani? Do you have anything more concrete?
21:36:12 - Kraiger: (to guy) so why all this covert stuff? Why not tell us that from the beginning?
21:36:38 - AlexColeman: let it stay sealed, get off the ship and immeadiately book return passage
21:37:33 - Methuslah: "We would never use bioweapons. Never! We abandoned operations on Pagaton when the Factors threatened it. And the device was covert because the Imperial Navy under that fool Santanocheev would authorize the purchase!"
21:37:35 - Kit: (to Alex) And what do you want to do then?
21:38:03 - Kraiger: (To Alex - I don't like BTs methods, but if the Zhodani really _are_ involved, then I for one am going to investigate this further.
21:39:23 - Methuslah: "Colonel, we have no choice but to operate in secret. With the war scare to coreward, and Sant.'s son involved, the Navy won't help. We're the nearest thing to the good guys around."
21:39:54 - AlexColeman: (to Kraiger) And the Imperium and Zho are helping MF and refuse to help BT
21:40:16 - Methuslah: "If it helps, you were to be fully briefed at Berengaria."
21:40:38 - Kraiger: (to guy) So did BT hire us for an exploration mission or not?
21:41:43 - AlexColeman: Cosidering the security on this ship, one carrying illeg goods, I'm of the opinion that descretion is the better part of valor
21:42:26 - AlexColeman: Hell, one of BT's incompentents would probably set off a covert nuke next to us by accident
21:42:35 - Methuslah: "Yes. We need data on those worlds, desperately. Again, the Navy banned the mission - but we do have a few allies, within and without the Imperium."
21:43:02 - Methuslah: "And all of our compentant crew are either defending main installations or have been killed in this damned war!"
21:43:23 - Kraiger: (To Alex - Major, I have been involved in covert ops before - where the ground troops fought for what they believed in, only to get screwed over by the hierarchy because of politics ....
21:43:30 - Kit: What does BT hope to find there?
21:43:56 - AlexColeman: Probably count them on one hand and we're four of them allies
21:44:06 - Kraiger: I'm not suggesting that we go into this blind, nor that we trust BT - but if any of this is true, then I for one am going to get involved.
21:45:21 - Kit: Personally, Im getting VERY curious about this whole matter. And one thing: Ive always been kinda stubborn, and the harder someone tries to keep me out of some place, the more I want to get in. This qualifies!
21:45:57 - Kit: Besides, I got at least 6 Months to kill #afore my own ship is ready again.
21:46:30 - Methuslah: "There is something going on in Egryn. We don't know what, and we don't know who. All we know is that MF and the Navy are trying to keep us out. That makes us curious enough to want to send a team in - and we have no competant personnel to spare."
21:46:31 - Kraiger: OK, lets get this guy in the brig - and then question the medic to see if he backs any of this up...
21:47:04 - Kit: If those loosers at the dock dont mess it up. Phewww. "Lady, we know what we're doin, you dont need ta wathc us every day!" As if!
21:47:37 - Methuslah: "I can prove what I say! Look at the purser's teeth, then check with the medical database on Zhodani anatomy."
21:48:07 - Kit: Uh, The Purser is a Zho?
21:48:33 - Kit: Dammned Mindreaders!
21:49:15 - Kraiger: What? A Zhodani, here (faces darkens with fury)
21:49:23 - Methuslah: "Zhodani have 28 teeth instead of our 32. Don't worry, I'll go quietly."
21:49:53 - Methuslah: "I confirmed it with the medic this morning, before I locked myself in."
21:50:27 - Kit: Does the Imperium know that MF is working with the Zho?
21:51:06 - Methuslah: "IISS does. We told INI - but they wouldn't listen."
21:51:09 - StewartBailey: (I hope that he didn't juet have his wisdom teeth removed - I only have 28 teeth now, too.)
21:51:38 - Methuslah: (ZHODANI! There is a Zhodani amoung us!)
21:51:45 - Kraiger: (I've only _ever_ had 28 - no wisdom teeth at all - guess that makes me a mind-reader
)
21:51:46 - Methuslah:
21:51:55 - Kit: Hmm, If I could get to Regina, I know of a few people there, whoe WOULD listen to me!
21:52:19 - Methuslah: (If we want to talk wierd, I only have 26. Still, the book says Solomani and Vilani have 32.)
21:52:37 - AlexColeman: Now your talking Kit!
21:53:18 - Methuslah: "We've tried, Countess. Sant. has blocked us every time. I almost think he is a stinkin' Zho."
21:53:42 - Kit: Duke Norris certainly would. He still owes me one for that Pony incident.
21:54:21 - Kraiger: You, Duke Norris and a Pony? Kit, I think you have some stories to tell us...
21:55:05 - Kit: Well that was WAY back when I was just about to join the service and Norris was anosy little brat... but I dont think that interests anyone outside the family.
21:56:22 - AlexColeman: Let me guess you saved his pony's life with artifical resperation?
21:56:24 - Kraiger: OK, this way (escort the guy to the brig) Alex, we'd better be prepared for our talk to the medic - seems every time we open a door around here, someone's pointing a gun at us!
21:57:01 - AlexColeman: Sure Kraig
21:57:14 - Kit: Not quite, he kidnapped MY pony to ... ah well, that really IS private Family Business.
21:57:40 - Methuslah: You reach the brig quite quickly, with no-one meeting you. The cell still seals, and you move on to the medical bay. The medic is sitting at his desk reading reports.
21:58:04 - AlexColeman: (following Kraig)
21:58:16 - Kit: Bsides, I didnt study medicin until sometimes around my 7th service term.
21:58:57 - Kraiger: (Hand ready on pistol) Mr (xxx)? We have a few questions we need to ask you
21:59:31 - Methuslah: "Yes, Colonel?"
21:59:32 - AlexColeman: (Mr van Diesel)?
22:00:45 - Kraiger: We've just had a long chat with Mr (yyy?) - he told us some very surprising things, and we need you to verify his story.
22:01:36 - Methuslah: "Yes, its true. I'm sorry - I wouild have told you if I could."
22:02:16 - Kraiger: So why didn't you? Did you know that he threatened to kill us all?
22:03:08 - Methuslah: "He would nto have gone through with it. I know Vernon - he sometimes goes over the top."
22:04:31 - Kit: With all that has happened, his threats were not very diplomatic. We might have shot first and asked later.
22:04:34 - Kraiger: And what is in the crate he was protecting?
22:06:14 - Methuslah: "Components for a nuclear missile defense system, to be installed at Trane Orbiting Spaceport. Vernon hasn't been very diplomatic since he got his ship shot out from under him."
22:07:42 - AlexColeman: (Mumbles)This trip gives me enough reason not to be diplomatic either (rubs pistol)
22:08:25 - Kraiger: Which ship was he on?
22:08:41 - Kit: (to Alex) Calm down. Loosing control wont do anyone no good. B'sides, Ive been in worse jams.
22:09:37 - Methuslah: "The Falstaff, an old Far Trader. It was ambushed at the start of the tradewar, everyone except him killed."
22:10:12 - AlexColeman: (To Kit) Your right we haven't stripped the ship's boat for parts yet but there are still a few days to go
22:11:45 - Kraiger: Alright, is there anything _else_ you should be telling us? Any other nasty surprises? Rogue Droyne about to start crawling out of the air-vents?
22:11:56 - Kit: (guis, a technical Question: How long do you plan on playing tonight. Its past midnight here and I have to get up early)
22:12:30 - Kit: Rouge Droyne? Why not Centaurs?
22:12:43 - Methuslah: "Look, this whole trip has been a disaster. You being on board led to MF people infiltrating, and the bomb. They realyl want you to stay out of Egyrn."
22:13:01 - Methuslah: (Let me know when you want to stop.)
22:13:19 - Kit: I noticed that. Thats why I REALLY want to go there.
22:13:21 - StewartBailey: (stopping soon works for me also)
22:13:44 - Kit: (Any suitable time now, I dont know if this would be a good breaking point)
22:14:08 - AlexColeman: (upholding arms) Ok I confess, I'm really a Aslan spy disquised as a human
22:14:12 - Kraiger: (Time to check the crates? I'd love to find out if this is true before next week...)
22:14:16 - Methuslah: (OK - we'll wrap it up in a minute. I have a little 'cliff-hanger planned.)
22:14:46 - Methuslah: "Look, why don't you go back to running the ship, and keeping us alive. We can worry about all this if we get to Trane."
22:14:45 - Kit: (to alex) hey look, a mouse!
22:15:27 - Kit: (Rats a cliuff hanger, and that with me probably not able to make it next week
)
22:15:40 - Kraiger: (To Medic) OK, thanks for your help. By the way, any chance you could runa quick teeth count on all the passengers and crew? I'd sleep a lot better knowing there anren't any more of *them* (shudder) on board.
22:15:53 - Methuslah: "I have. All accounted for."
22:16:37 - Kraiger: Ok then. So, who want's to get check this fragile crate to see if its going to blow this tub up?
22:17:04 - Kit: Does that sound like a job for an engineer?
22:17:33 - Kit: Ill get my suit (Storage was in vacuum, right?)
22:18:00 - Methuslah: (Yes.)
22:18:05 - Kit: Someone get me a fresh coffee while Im at it ok?
22:18:32 - Kit: (suiting up) Which storage bay? Which crates?
22:19:09 - Kit: (I will pack my equipment, including a scanner that can detect radiation)
22:19:18 - Methuslah: (There is only one cargo bay, the lower deck. The manifest can give you data on their location.
22:19:54 - Kit: Anyone want to tag along?
22:20:34 - AlexColeman: (head to lounge, check on passengers, partake of alcololic beverage
22:20:58 - StewartBailey: (I'd love too, but someone has to sit in this chair up here...)
22:21:07 - Kraiger: Sure, I'll come take a look
22:21:42 - Kit: OK Kraiger Suit up (Well go and check the crates)
22:21:52 - Kraiger: (* Thanks Stewart! You know I'd run this ship if I could, but I'd probably run it _into_ a rock!
)
22:21:59 - Kraiger: (suits up)
22:22:11 - Methuslah: The cargo bay is still in vacuum. You can see the crates you are interested in, sitting undamaged in a corner. They are sealed contaiers, with 'DANGER-FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT EXPOSE TO VACUUM' stenciled upon them.
22:22:45 - Kit: Can the vacuum in the cargo bay be sealed off or the crates transported somewhere else?)
22:23:11 - Kraiger: Oh-oh...
22:24:05 - Kit: Well it DID feel somewhat wrong to have run out of problems.
22:24:09 - StewartBailey: (No, you fools, the cliffhanger is in the common area...)
22:24:15 - Methuslah: You can move the crates to a pressurized section of the ship fairly easily. The seal is intact, so they are probably allright for the moment.
22:24:44 - Kit: Ok, lets move them. Kraiger gimme a hand!
22:25:12 - Kit: With all those people in low berth we should have a few cabins to spare.
22:25:34 - Kraiger: (Help out with crates) (*grunt*)
22:25:58 - Methuslah: Getting the crates up is not easy, but you do manage it. You now have both of them in the pressurized corridor above the cargo deck.
22:26:36 - Kit: OK full scan of crates from the outside. Any Radiation or anything else?
22:26:39 - Kraiger: (*comm) Hey guys - might want to hang onto something....
22:27:15 - Methuslah: No radiation. You do sense an active power source, some sort of mini-fusion reactor.
22:27:19 - AlexColeman: (Grabs bottle and handhold)
22:27:47 - Kit: What kind of idiot transports an active reactor? This one is running.
22:28:44 - Kit: Correction on that, we are talking about BT Personell. Probably standard procedure here (shudders)
22:28:55 - Kit: OK Kraiger, wanna peek inside?
22:29:33 - Kraiger: I'm game if you are... (checks the locks for any sort of booby traps..)
22:29:35 - AlexColeman: (hearing dramatic music drinks beverage)
22:30:12 - Methuslah: No booby traps are evident.
22:30:16 - Kit: Ok (Break seal CAREFULLY and open crate, EVEN MORE CAREFULLY)
22:31:07 - Kraiger: (holding breath...)
22:31:30 - Methuslah: The first crate contains what looks like a highly advanced fusion reactor, the smaller you have ever seen. It seems to be on 'idle', but is running. The other contains a series of electronic components, also hi-tech, that seem to be part of aguidance system.
22:32:05 - Kit: (could it be what the guy claimed it was?)
22:32:35 - Kraiger: (exhales)
22:33:09 - Methuslah: (looks like it)
22:33:24 - Kit: Well if we have another problem with our reactor, we now have a spare
22:33:42 - Kit: OK, lets repack the stuff and store the crates somewhere safe.
22:34:12 - Kit: Jeez, this thing is small. (looks admiringly at reactor)
22:34:24 - Kraiger: (helps repack)
22:34:43 - Methuslah: There are plenty of empty cabins you can store them in.
22:34:52 - Kraiger: (*Comm) Looks like its what they claimed guys - so, bo big bumps for the moment
22:35:08 - Kraiger: no big bumps
22:36:06 - Kit: (Well put it in a cabin, seal the door and Ill use a little wad of bubblegum with my seal on it as an Indicator should anyone disturb the door!)
22:36:22 - Methuslah: OK
22:36:25 - Kraiger: (After we store the stuff, head back to the bridge)
22:36:49 - Kit: (me too) Is my Coffee ready?
22:37:11 - Methuslah: OK - I'm going to end the session now, with cliffhanger.
22:37:39 - Methuslah: The next five days are fairly uneventful. The failure of the automatic systems leaves no time for further investigation as you try to keep ship’s systems operational. Your acting crewmen all perform tolerably well, though morale on the ship is still somewhat low. You are all off-watch, with Arturo and Barret watching the bridge and engineering, when you are woken by the ship’s alarms, six hours before scheduled emergence from jumpspace.
22:37:54 - Methuslah: Ok - good game.
22:38:06 - Kit: (Ill never get my coffe! I Knew it. Its the Kit-dont-get-no-coffee conspiracy!)
22:38:14 - StewartBailey: Until next week.
22:38:36 - Kraiger: Thanks everyone!
22:38:39 - Methuslah: See you all next week!
22:38:49 - AlexColeman: Good game, same Bat channel nest week?
22:38:56 - Methuslah: Same as usual.
22:39:05 - AlexColeman: bye
22:39:06 - Kit: ok, as I said before, i probably wont be around next week. Just assume Im busi with the engine or whatever. Ill catch up on the log later.
