Imperial Fringe Online Game Chat Session Log 04.08.2002

19:57:20 - Kit: OK, are we all done with playing around and can we start?
19:57:27 - AlexColeman: I'm ready to play
19:57:49 - Methuslah: OK - let's get started!
19:57:56 - Kraiger: (all set)
19:57:59 - Kit: Short Summary of first session: July 28th 2002
19:58:27 - Kit: Major Alex Coleman, Steward Bailey, Ltnt Colonel Kraiger and Messalina Kitiara of Regina found themselves on a shuttle taking them to the Subsidized Liner Pony Express. That ship would take them to Berengaria, where they would mount their own ship for the exploration intothe Egryn Sybsector.
19:59:12 - Kit: The Rooky Pilot should have been a first warning: Everything was not as it should be.Barely on board the Pony express we were led to the captain who seemed angry at us, which at that time was quite a mystery to us. After all, neither of us knew the guy.We were invited to join him on the Bridge for the jump to Jumpspace where an incompetent rooky engineer almost managed to blow up the engine. Kit intervened in time, in spite of the captains protest.Later that kid told us several things:1. He was really a jump theory expert and not qualified for the job he had been transferred to.2. The Captain and this ship had originally been planned for the Expedition to engryn, but in the last minute, a freelance team (us) had been put on the job. That's why the Captain was so angry at us.3. BT seems to have a real personell shortage and the War with MC is not quite as over as we were made to believe.Point 3 was made quite clear to us when we were accosted in the lounge by two black clad men (probably MC Personell?) while just settling down in the lounge. We declined their "friendly" invitation to follow them and managed to disarm them when they were distracted. One was wounded and shipped off to sick bay, the other was dragged off by ships security.Kraiger had watched the purser sneak around the ship and enter the cabin that these two men had come from. So we paid the cabin a little visit (without the captain knowng of course). We found some money and a card (if I remember correctly)Thats when we took a break.
20:00:00 - Kit: I think that about sums up the most important points
20:00:28 - StewartBailey: I think that we found some useful information from the merchant captain in the lounge also.
20:01:01 - Kit: Yes, but I don't quite remember what that was
20:01:18 - Kit: I misplaced my notes
20:01:31 - Methuslah: OK - we left the game with you all in the ship's bar/lounge, having managed to break into cabin 014. You had been talking to Captain Arturo Gregorian, of the Wild Cowboy. He had told you that he believed Prometheus Unbound had been lost in the Tradewar.
20:02:21 - AlexColeman: so now we are all in the lounge?
20:02:24 - StewartBailey: Oour expedition will also have dubious legal status.
20:02:37 - Kit: What was that again that we found besides money in the cabin?
20:02:59 - Kraiger: A creidt note for 5k credits
20:03:03 - AlexColeman: Look people why don't we go to a more private area to chat
20:03:11 - Kraiger: And a brown bag...
20:03:36 - Kit: I think that where we are going is not necessarily a barred area, only the information is barred. isn't it?
20:03:38 - Methuslah: Your cabins are 025 and 026, if you want them.
20:03:40 - AlexColeman: Like in a stateroom, maybe
20:04:08 - Kit: Agrred Alex, lets go to one of our cabins, but I want acoffee first!
20:05:03 - Kraiger: Lets go to ours (025), so you can all look at the bag
20:05:26 - Kit: Steward! A Coffe to go, Hot please!
20:06:02 - AlexColeman: Sounds good to me (follows Kraiger)
20:06:13 - Methuslah: "Er...yes, ma'am." the steward nervously replies. HE hastily slops the coffee in a plastic cup, and gingerly passes to you.
20:06:17 - StewartBailey:
(folllows)
20:06:19 - Kit: I follow, once I get my coffee.
20:07:04 - Kraiger: (heads to stateroom)
20:07:08 - Methuslah: The corridors are getting more crowded now, as people begin to look around the ship. Not a few of them give you some strange looks as you pass them, and they all noticably avoid you.
20:07:50 - Kit: We seem to be celebrities already (or are we so differently looking from them?)
20:08:00 - AlexColeman: (as soon as Kit is in room) Hey Kit check the room out for sensors and "bugs", ok?
20:08:21 - Methuslah: Your staterooms are rather cramped, with the double beds installed. There is only one wardrobe and two lockers for your possessions.
20:09:00 - Kraiger: (brings out bag and credit note when room secure)
20:09:02 - Kit: ??? Ahem. What Do you think I am, a spy? (Rumbles around in her tools to look for a scanner and proceeds to check room)
20:09:18 - Methuslah: It will be a 7 roll for you to check.
20:09:29 - Methuslah: (7 )
20:09:32 - Methuslah:
20:09:46 - Methuslah: -
20:09:50 - AlexColeman: No, someone who knows how to use that device, I don't
20:09:51 - Kit: (The first thing she unpacks looks vaguely like a cat but is mechanical at second glance)
20:09:57 - Kit: 2D6: 5
20:10:08 - Kit: found nothin
20:10:53 - Kit: (ponts to the cat thing) thatsHenry
20:11:20 - AlexColeman: Is Henry progammed to defend you?
20:11:21 - StewartBailey: (???)
20:11:43 - Kit: Hmm, well an Attacker might stumble across him!
20:11:55 - Methuslah: The door buzzer sounds, interrupting your conversation.
20:12:03 - Kraiger: (*chuckle*)
20:12:18 - Kraiger: (draws pistol)
20:12:26 - Kit: Not one minute uninterrupted quiet on this ship!
20:12:40 - Kit: Whos there?
20:12:41 - Kraiger: (moves to side of door) who is it?
20:12:45 - AlexColeman: (off to side pistol drawn)
20:12:51 - Kraiger: (makes sure briefcase is hidden)
20:12:58 - StewartBailey: (just off to the side)
20:13:10 - Kit: (looks back and forth between the two pistoleros) Whaddaja doin?
20:13:21 - Methuslah: The buzzer sounds again, and then the door slides open, to reveal Captain Redwood standing at the door. You notice he now has a holstered pistol.
20:13:51 - Kit: Is there any chance Captain, that we can get some quiet time on this ship?
20:14:02 - AlexColeman: Being prepared like a good Scout should be
20:14:15 - Kraiger: (lowers pistol)
20:14:17 - Methuslah: "Funny. I was about to ask you the same question."
20:14:42 - AlexColeman: (holster pistol)
20:14:52 - Kit: Well we didnt attack anybody, we just defended ourselves.
20:15:09 - Methuslah: "You have been on this ship for two hours. TWO HOURS. One man is now being put into emergency low berth, another under arrest. I knew you would be trouble."
20:15:12 - Kraiger: (Is the captain alone?)
20:15:27 - Methuslah: "I also note that none of you suffered a scratch."
20:15:29 - Methuslah: Yes.
20:15:45 - Kit: Listn capatin, I think you gotta get this straight We didnt ask these men to attack us. They started it!
20:15:52 - Kraiger: What can we _do_ for you captain?
20:17:14 - Methuslah: "Ideally, you could walk home. Practically, I want you to stay out of the way of the passengers. Basically, stay in your staterooms. I don't want anyone else getting hurt. If you are nervous, I will have a couple of guards on your doors. We pay them to defend the passengers - vigilantes are not needed."
20:17:47 - Methuslah: Er...what happened there?
20:18:07 - Kit: You wanna lock us up or whats that spossd to be?
20:18:10 - Kraiger: (Everythings OK for me)
20:19:22 - AlexColeman: (mumbles) But criminals are welcome to threaten passengers like me
20:19:30 - Kraiger: Captain, we _cannot_ stay crammed in these staterooms for a week.
20:19:59 - Methuslah: "I would rather say that, as you are liable to have a strenous mission ahead of you, it would be better for you to get what rest you can. You can go ashore at Trane, if you wish. In fact, the more time you spend off this ship, the better."
20:21:47 - Kit: Well Im NOT gonna stay in this room all week. Theres more space on a courier ship that here!
20:21:52 - Methuslah: "You were a senior officer, I believe, Mr. Kraiger. What would you do in my place?"
20:21:55 - Kraiger: Captain, I want to talk to that thug as soon as he wakes up. Did you talk to him yet?
20:22:40 - StewartBailey: Personally, I would worry about the lax security. What else has slipped aboard?
20:23:55 - AlexColeman: (mumbles softly)How about blowing yourself out an airlock for being so stupid
20:23:56 - Methuslah: "I did. He refused totalk. I will turn him over to the authorities at Trane. If you want to waste time talking to him, fine. But you will not move on this ship wihout a guard present. And Mr. Bailey, it is precisely because of that danger that I want you to remain in a contained area."
20:25:22 - Kraiger: OK - but you had better tell those guards not to get trigger happy. I _don't_ like people waving guns in my face!
20:25:31 - AlexColeman: I'm supposing that _all_ passengers are to be "locked" down for the duration?
20:27:31 - StewartBailey: (If the guards are as skilled as the rest of the crew, their gun waving wouldn't worry me too much.)
20:27:31 - Methuslah: "Yes. Best not to be too careful. When we hit Trane, Company officials will no doubt be ablt to go over this ship with a toothcomb. Until then, every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of the ship. And Mr. Kraiger - these guards are all ex-servicemen, all trained."
20:28:39 - Kit: What number on the intercom do we dial for orde... err requesting an escort?
20:29:37 - Methuslah: "Dial 108 for the Purser. He'll send somebody."
20:30:04 - AlexColeman: (brb)
20:30:15 - Kit: (soots glance at Kraiger) The Purser. I see.
20:31:12 - Kit: What about moving from cabin 25 to 26? Call aguard escort for 2 meters?
20:31:33 - Kraiger: (the history on my chat screen is only 20 lines or so - is that the same for everyone?)
20:31:47 - Methuslah: "I will have a guard outside your doors at all times, then. Will that help?"
20:31:55 - Methuslah: Yes - same here.
20:31:58 - StewartBailey: (it's time-based I believe)
20:32:17 - Kit: (message staying time is 800 seconds. Wantme to inrease it?)
20:32:36 - AlexColeman: (tuns and goes to back of room mumbling) Probably we will hit Trane knowing the experience of the ship's crew
20:33:03 - Kraiger: (I think a bit longer would be better...)
20:33:31 - Kraiger: Alright Captain - its your ship...
20:33:39 - AlexColeman: (we could always write more)
20:33:40 - StewartBailey: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
20:34:16 - Kit: (just changed it. It should work without relogging. well see)
20:34:40 - Kraiger: (*chuckles*) Indeed Stewart
20:34:49 - Methuslah: "That is right Mr. Kraiger. It is. Please remember this fact."
20:35:19 - Kit: (tow steward) what language was that?
20:35:43 - Methuslah: Latin. "Who watches the watchmen?"
20:35:44 - StewartBailey: Latin. The benefit of too much education.
20:36:19 - StewartBailey: Will that be all, Captain?
20:36:19 - Kit: Whats the benefit if no one understands you?
20:37:09 - StewartBailey: Doesn't everyone still take Latin in school?
20:37:17 - Kraiger: More Dramatic Kit (smiles)
20:37:26 - Kit: Not where I come from
20:37:34 - Methuslah: "That will be all. If you need a guard or any further assistance, dial 108."
20:38:01 - Kit: Good Captain, we will.
20:38:08 - StewartBailey: Be seeing you (with the gesture, of course).
20:38:19 - Kraiger: Captain... I noticed you entered our room without waiting for an invitation...
20:38:20 - AlexColeman: (mumbles)Why dial 108 when all we have to do is open the door for a guard?
20:38:41 - Kraiger: I would recommend you tell the guards not to do the same - for safety...
20:38:48 - Methuslah: "I did ring twice."
20:39:21 - Kraiger: (*hmmph*)
20:39:28 - Kit: Aha, local Custom No 1: Ring twice then enter without delay! Gotta remember that.
20:40:09 - Kit: Afta all, Scouts get trained to adapt to local customs (big grin at captain) be seen you!
20:40:21 - AlexColeman: (has Captain left yet?)
20:40:41 - Methuslah: The captain turns, and leaves the room without a word.
20:41:09 - Kit: (mumbles ) idiot!
20:41:19 - Kraiger: I guess he had a pass key to get in... it would be nice to have one of those...
20:42:13 - Kit: Well, I DO hope well get some quiet time now (sits down on one bunk and starts to stroke Henry who jumped onto her lap)
20:42:15 - StewartBailey: Would it sound too much like an entertainment vid to say "What's in the bag?"
20:42:14 - AlexColeman: Any paper and quill?
20:42:46 - Kit: Paper and quill? Whats wrong with an electronic notebook?
20:42:56 - AlexColeman: I suggest we limit conversation and write our thought down
20:42:59 - Kraiger: Here's the bag - empty except for this one piece of paper...
20:43:08 - AlexColeman: secrecy
20:43:20 - Kit: do you guys know how to subvocalize?
20:43:34 - StewartBailey: Is that like whispering?
20:43:44 - AlexColeman: Look, lady I don't even know Latin
20:43:55 - Kit: No, you mumble into a special microphone!
20:44:39 - AlexColeman: Electronic signals can be intercepted unless it laser based LOS
20:44:49 - Kraiger: Do you realy think anyone is going to bug us?
20:45:10 - AlexColeman: Some one drew a gun on us
20:45:17 - Methuslah: The bag contains the warrant you found eariler, a few credits of petty cash, and a scrawled note. The note reads "Half Payment recieved. Remainder on delivery." You cannot decipher the signature.
20:45:18 - Kit: Yea sure. I checked this cabin. How much effort Do you think will they put into this?
20:45:30 - Kraiger: Personally, I don't think we know enough about whats going on to make it worth their while...
20:45:37 - StewartBailey: How about just speakig quietly and turning on some loud background noise? Anything but opera.
20:46:11 - Kit: Fine with me (rummages through bag again and produces a small portable music box)
20:46:50 - Kraiger: Hmmm, half payment. I think we should visit this guy in the brig and find out just _who_ is paying him
20:47:00 - StewartBailey: (hey - I have commo-1) Let me check for bugs one more time. 2D6: 10
20:47:00 - Kit: Aslan pop, alle the Rage on regina about 24 years ago! (starts strange and kinda loud music)
20:47:12 - AlexColeman: I got another topic right quick I'd like to bring up
20:47:54 - AlexColeman: Let's develop a cover story for our mission
20:48:01 - Methuslah: Behind one of the light panels, you find a small recorder. It has no transmission capability, and a capacity of about eight hours recording.
20:48:12 - Kit: hey guys, How about getting to know each other? Since we are a team, we schould know what each of us can do best?
20:49:00 - StewartBailey: (Pointing to the recorder) I'm too tired to talk more. Let's get one more cup of coffee before we get more into this.
20:49:08 - Kit: Cover Story? Why that?
20:49:11 - Kraiger: Nice find stewart - and we can use that to leave some planned messages for whoever's listening...
20:49:59 - Kit: It seems to be common knowledge that there is a team goin to Egryn? Why keep it secret?
20:50:14 - Kraiger: (brb)
20:50:34 - AlexColeman: (whispers low) Because the Imperium has classified the world data on the region we are about to explore
20:51:27 - AlexColeman: (low)And I don't want to be arrested for breaking some law before exploring it
20:51:50 - Kit: You know, since quite a few people in BC know where we are goin, and since all our stops will be on BT Worlds, why bother?
20:51:53 - StewartBailey: We don't know who the players are and what they want yet. The less thay know about our true intentions the better.
20:52:30 - Kit: The Data is classified, the Region has NOT been declared a red traveling zone, so now law broken.
20:52:30 - AlexColeman: (low)All I ask is that you keep it a secret that we are that team
20:52:50 - StewartBailey: That sounds reasonable to me.
20:53:21 - Kit: Okay, okay. But towards whom? The Captain here knows, and I aint gonna go around in spaceport proclaiming our plans
20:53:49 - AlexColeman: Red zones and amber zones are posted by the Traveller Aide Society not the Imperium
20:53:54 - StewartBailey: By venturig out without Imperial authorization, we're probably open to additional threats than we would be otherwise. That's probably not good.
20:54:34 - StewartBailey: (What's my knowledge of Impeial law on this?) 2D6: 6
20:54:42 - Kit: Egryn aint even officially part of the Imperium.
20:56:56 - Methuslah: The Imperium has no official powers in any system not under its control. If there are any governments claiming the territory, you would fall under their jurisdiction. Otherwise, you would be operating on your own in free, neutral space. However, if the Imperium didn't like you entering Egryn, they could still do a good deal against you, unofficially.
20:57:17 - Kraiger: I think the purser is mixxed up in this - and he's probably the one that planted this recorder...
20:57:40 - Methuslah: Also, the Imperium has no official responsibilities towards any citizens leaving its borders without authorization from the IISS, the Navy or another equivalent Imperial organization.
20:57:53 - Kraiger: I suggest we call him, get him down here, and confront him with the recorder
20:58:15 - Kit: Hell just deny everything and hide the next one better!
20:58:34 - StewartBailey: That won't give us a chance to spread some disinformation first.
20:59:02 - Kraiger: OK, good points...
20:59:16 - AlexColeman: I agree with Stewart use it to plant disinformation
20:59:20 - Kit: does the recorder record time as well?
20:59:24 - Kraiger: How about this - lets one or two of us go talk to the thug in the brig...
20:59:55 - Kraiger: _then_ get the purser here, confront him, and make it seem like the thug told us "all about it"
21:00:19 - Methuslah: The recorder does have a counter on it. It appears to be equipped for playback as well as record.
21:00:26 - Kit: whats that gonna prove?
21:00:52 - Kit: hey, lets see where it started to record.
21:00:57 - StewartBailey: If this device can only record for eight hours, someone will probably be coming to pick it up in eight hours of so. Why not wait until then to catch them?
21:01:16 - Kraiger: (Kit, was that to me?)
21:01:27 - Methuslah: The record began about an hour ago.
21:02:20 - Kit: wellthree possibilities: The Purser will try to get it (and hell know when we leave the room), the thugs will Not try to get it or a third party will or will not try to get it.
21:02:44 - AlexColeman: (moves next to Kit, whispersS) Voice activated?
21:02:49 - Kit: (Is there anything on the ercord before we came to the cabin?)
21:03:27 - Kit: (to Meth Voice activated? other technical specialties?)
21:03:35 - StewartBailey: We can also use this recorder ourselves, you know.
21:03:59 - Kraiger: When I said "confront" the purser, i wasn't talking about the recorder... I'm _sure_ he's in on it, and I want to make it seem as if the thug gave us information, to help crack the pursers sory..
21:04:16 - Kit: (to steward) wanna plant it in the pursers room?
21:04:26 - StewartBailey: Why not?
21:04:46 - Methuslah: The recorder does not appear to be voice operated. It is basically a very small tape recorder, rather low-tech. (TL 6-7, at a guess.)
21:05:00 - AlexColeman: Why not what?
21:05:04 - Kit: How you plan on doin that, what with our escort and all?
21:05:36 - Kit: Whoever planted this thing was in a hurry, unprepared and not equipped for surveillance.
21:06:38 - Kraiger: So, who wants to join me in talking to the thug - anyone especially "persuasive"?
21:06:43 - StewartBailey: Why not use the recorder to snoop ourselves?
21:07:13 - StewartBailey: Maybe we should also replay the first hour and see what's there.
21:07:43 - Kit: Thats what I am trying to do (METH? Anything?)
21:07:49 - AlexColeman: I think it would be better to develop a cover story and give disinformation on the recorder for the steward to fing
21:08:54 - Methuslah: The tape is now rewingind to the beginning. It will only play real time - are you going to take an hour to listen?
21:08:55 - StewartBailey: We can probably do both.
21:09:03 - Kit: And maybe this recorder is just a distraction to cover the REAL surveillance equipment, but havin seen the competence of the crew here, I doubt that.
21:09:06 - AlexColeman: Kraiger, I doubt the Captain will opermit us to question him now, but I'll go
21:09:41 - Kit: (Cant i have my computer analyze the input somehow?)
21:09:50 - StewartBailey: I'll listen to the first hour. Nowhere else to go.
21:10:15 - Kraiger: Alex, he said we could - OK, lets go....
21:10:40 - Kraiger: I'm going to peek outside (opens door to check for guard)
21:11:11 - Methuslah: There is a guard outside, standing with his back to the door.
21:11:17 - AlexColeman: About to call for a guard, everybody keep your wits about you
21:12:11 - Kraiger: See you all later (walks outside to talk to guard, making plenty of obvious noise so as not to scare him)
21:12:40 - AlexColeman: (to guard) Captain said we could talk to our attacker
21:12:52 - Kit: see ya later, bring me a coffee.
21:13:11 - Methuslah: "Did he? I have orders that no-one is to leave without clearence. Do you have clearence?"
21:14:03 - AlexColeman: Captain gave us clearance eariler
21:14:15 - Kraiger: Yes we do
21:14:34 - Methuslah: "How do I know that. I have my orders. Perhaps I should go and get the Purser?"
21:14:59 - Kraiger: (takes a look at guard - cana Lt. Col and Major "scare" him to do as he's told?)
21:15:16 - StewartBailey: "Or ask the Captain. How would the purser know what the Captain told us?"
21:16:22 - Methuslah: The guard is a rather lean-lloking man in his early twenties. Not very imposing.
21:16:58 - AlexColeman: (to guard) Look a here son, the Captain knows were on a secret mission and has given us special permission to talk to this guy
21:17:03 - Methuslah: "I report to the Purser, sir. Perhaps I should get him? Or I could go and get the Captain, but he'd be mighty mad."
21:17:22 - StewartBailey: (if rank can't bluff him, you can always fall back on SOC. Kit's is B I believe, I'm C)
21:17:35 - AlexColeman: Let us do our job (proceeds to walk down corridor)
21:17:48 - Kit: (im SOC C)
21:18:06 - Kraiger: Go check with the captain, we'll meet you at the brig
21:18:05 - StewartBailey: (even better)
21:18:42 - Methuslah: "I'm not sure about this." He begins to fidget, looking up and down the corridor nervously.
21:18:52 - Kit: dont forget my coffee when you get back!
21:19:10 - Methuslah: "I know. I'll call the Purser on the intercom. Or you could call him."
21:19:33 - Kit: or maybe (to guard) sir, could you get me acoffee? (SMILE)
21:20:03 - Kraiger: Kit, could you help this boy? Thanks...
21:20:11 - Kraiger: (heads to brig)
21:20:21 - AlexColeman:
Kraiger you know the way (arms outstretched down hallway)
21:20:31 - Kit: sure. So what about the coffee?
21:20:37 - AlexColeman: (follow Kraiger)
21:20:53 - Methuslah: "Er...yes ma'am. Certainly. YOu just all wait there."
21:21:08 - Methuslah: The guard runs off down the corridor.
21:21:19 - Kit: sure boy, but please hurry.
21:21:39 - StewartBailey: (Is there another guard?)
21:21:39 - Kit: Im gonna wait for the coffe here.
21:21:56 - Methuslah: OK Alex, Kraiger. You make it to the brig fairly quickly, without being seen. The door to the security office is closed.
21:22:05 - Methuslah: (Only one guard - and he has left.)
21:22:27 - Kraiger: (rings buzzer)
21:22:49 - AlexColeman: (whispers) Knock first?
21:23:26 - Kit: (remember local Custom No 1)
21:23:48 - Methuslah: No one answers.
21:23:51 - AlexColeman: (rings buzzer several times)
21:24:43 - Kraiger: (Opens the door)
21:25:05 - AlexColeman: (tries door is it locked)
21:25:28 - Methuslah: The office is empty. The prisoner seems to be asleep in his cell.
21:26:04 - Kit: (I already know the headache the captain's gonna have )
21:26:14 - StewartBailey: Let's see what's on this tape before we got here. (Don't you hate it when players split the party?)
21:26:50 - AlexColeman: (lloking around for any taser type of stun device)
21:26:58 - Kit: (Well happens) OK (METH Were gonna check the tape!)
21:26:58 - Kraiger: (try to wake him up)
21:27:16 - Methuslah: The tape starts with a couple of grunts, and the sounds of metal clanging on the deck. It is then silent for about twenty minutes.
21:27:39 - Methuslah: (There are no weapons that you can see in the office. The prisoner awakes when you call him.)
21:28:30 - Kraiger: Well hello there. Comfy?
21:29:42 - AlexColeman: (silent stare at the prixoner)
21:29:51 - Methuslah: Then you hear voices on the tape. "They're not here." "He said they would be here, in these rooms." "We'll they aren't. Let's try the lounge." You then hear footsteps on the deck. The tape is silent from then on.
21:30:07 - Methuslah: <Sorry - got thrown out for a minute.>
21:30:23 - Methuslah: "Quite comfortable. More so than you will be."
21:30:35 - Kit: well, seems it wasnt the thugs planting this thing. (can I make acopy to my computer?)
21:30:43 - Kraiger: Oh really? Why's that?
21:32:00 - Methuslah: (You can record the tape into your computer - will take an hour to store it all, as the tape will only play at real time.)
21:32:15 - Methuslah: "Go to hell. Why should I help you?"
21:32:24 - Kit: (will do)
21:32:53 - Kit: really primitive.
21:32:54 - Kraiger: How about, because we'll make it worth your while...
21:33:26 - Methuslah: "How. The Captain plans to turn me over to the BT thugs. Well, good luck to him."
21:33:42 - Kit: seems like everything in this company is old, primitive and unqualified. Doesnt make me feel too comfortable about this whole job.
21:33:45 - StewartBailey:
Where would you find such an antique?
21:34:05 - Kit: museums?
21:34:05 - Methuslah: Kit, Stewart - you hear an angry noise from outside. It seems to be the Captain, roaring at the guard. A minute later, the door buzzer goes.
21:34:11 - Kraiger: OK, listen. I understand whats its like to be caught up in things over your head...
21:34:29 - Kraiger: How about I said I can _promise_ that you won't get into the hands of the BT...
21:34:34 - Kit: (hide the tape!)
21:34:37 - StewartBailey:
I open the door to see what's up.
21:34:52 - Kraiger: You'll get your original pay...
21:35:13 - Kraiger: And no more will be said about it.
21:35:46 - Kraiger: I'll even throw in a 2500 Cr bonus for you!
21:35:47 - Methuslah: "You'll neve get a chance to pay me."
21:36:19 - Methuslah: (K & S) - You see the Captain standing outsie, the guard frantically sponging coffee his coat.
21:36:23 - AlexColeman: Why not?
21:36:32 - Methuslah: "May I come in?"
21:36:46 - Kit: Oh no, My Coffee!!
21:37:22 - Methuslah: The prisoner looks away from you, and begins to laugh manically.
21:37:23 - StewartBailey: Please.
21:37:37 - Kit: Seems the only time I can get a coffe round here is if I get it myself. Everyone else seem hell bent on spilling it over somebody!
21:37:58 - Methuslah: "Yes. I understood it was your coffee. I came to...where are Colonel Kraiger and Major Coleman?"
21:38:39 - Kit: brig?
21:38:53 - Kit: other cabin?
21:38:58 - Kraiger: You know, they won't stop us. We already know about you, the purser, and the other two...
21:39:01 - Methuslah: "Who went with them?"
21:39:30 - Kraiger: Why not make it easier on yourself?
21:39:35 - StewartBailey: I believe you gave them permission to speak with the assailants? I can't say who went with them. I've been here all the time.
21:39:36 - Kit: (points to guard) He wanted to get someone.
21:40:04 - Kit: or maybe accompany them himself, I dunno, I was in my cabin
21:40:19 - AlexColeman: Look verify our info and we'll vouch for you at trial
21:40:45 - Methuslah: "It's too late for that, my friend. But BT will never get into Egyrn after this fiasco. Perhaps losing the Pony Express will bankrupt them - do you think?"
21:41:10 - StewartBailey: Kit, shall I buzz the Purser for another cup of coffee for you?
21:41:36 - Methuslah: "Great. Great. Look, anyway, I came to apologize. It's been a bad day. I've already sent for a coffee machine."
21:41:38 - Kit: yes please. This is getting to be a bad joke!
21:42:14 - AlexColeman: Look stupid, they'll use truth drug on you and the real culprit will be you and your masters
21:42:23 - Kit: OK captain, youve got much around your head. If we can help you, just say so. But dont treat us as criminals. We work for the same company.
21:42:28 - Methuslah: "I only took command four days ago. This ship is a shambles."
21:42:55 - Methuslah: "Don't you get it? There will be no trial. None of us will reach Trane alive!"
21:42:55 - StewartBailey: Captain, I am at your service. If I can be of assisstance in any way, please let me know.
21:43:00 - Kit: And the crew lacks qualification. Need help?
21:43:04 - Kraiger: Why should they lose the Pony Express? The ship is in top shape from what I saw...
21:43:45 - StewartBailey: (If I would have heard that I woudl have laughed)
21:44:09 - Methuslah: "Tell you what - hang on to something. By my reckoning, there are about sixty seconds to go."
21:44:16 - AlexColeman: (whisper to Kraig) Maybe they planted a bomb aboard?
21:44:29 - Kraiger: (Is the cell locked? Can I get it open and get hold of this guy???)
21:44:49 - AlexColeman: (looks for intercom)
21:45:07 - Methuslah: The cell is locked shut. There is an intercom on the desk.
21:45:17 - Kit: oops
21:45:30 - AlexColeman: (Activates intercom) Captain there might be a bomb aboard
21:45:39 - Kraiger: What are you talking about? Are you saying there's a _bomb_ onboard?
21:45:48 - StewartBailey: (and in jump space too)
21:45:52 - Methuslah: You feel, rather than hear, a titanic explosion from aft. The ship's lights immediately go to red, and siresn start to wail.
21:46:07 - AlexColeman: Set to go off in a few seconds
21:46:14 - Kraiger: Ah crap....
21:46:17 - Methuslah: "There goes the jump drive! Life support in fifteen minutes!"
21:46:31 - Kit: to bridge (head there immediatels, pulling captain along if he doesnt come himself)
21:46:33 - AlexColeman: (curses)
21:46:48 - StewartBailey: (with the Captain)
21:47:06 - Methuslah: The captain reaches for the intercom. It doesn't seem to be working. He opens the door. "Come on. Let's get to Engineering!"
21:47:08 - Kraiger: (Where are the nearest Vacc suits?)
21:47:29 - Kit: (rushing to engineering)
21:47:33 - Methuslah: "Commander Bailey, take command of the bridge. The pilot is a drunkard!"
21:47:53 - Kit: Steward, find some suits!
21:48:01 - Kraiger: (To thug) You want to live through this? You'd better start talking fast. _Who_ put you up to this?
21:48:04 - AlexColeman: (Looking for vacc suit)
21:48:06 - Methuslah: (There are lockers at the junctions of every corridor, that should contain three vaccsuits.)
21:48:15 - Methuslah: "Yes, Ma'am."
21:48:16 - StewartBailey: Very well (pushing the pilot aside).
21:48:41 - Methuslah: There are two vacc suits in the security office, in a cupboard.
21:48:53 - StewartBailey: Engineering, what's out status?
21:48:54 - Kraiger: Alex, you'd better go see if you can find the bomb in life support - otherwise we're screwed!
21:49:02 - Kit: (rushing to engineering)
21:49:07 - Kraiger: I'll work on this guy...
21:49:17 - AlexColeman: (go outside get all three but drop one on floor just inside security)Prisoner yours is on the flooor, talk fast
21:49:38 - Methuslah: Stewart - you find the bridge in a total shambles. The navigator's panel seems to have exploded, and he lies on the floor, badly wounded. The pilot is sitting upright in his chair, staring into space. Barret is frantically pushing buttons on his control panel.
21:49:53 - AlexColeman: Ok, (leaves to check out life support for bomb)
21:50:12 - Methuslah: "It will be a fun game. In twelve minutes, the oxygen regeneration unit will blow. Have fun!"
21:50:18 - StewartBailey: (Is there an engineering station? If so, is it manned?)
21:50:32 - Kraiger: (Did Alex catch that?)
21:50:50 - Methuslah: Kit - Engineering is in vaccum. You will need to don a vacc suit, also.
21:51:07 - Methuslah: (Yes - the prisoner talked before he left.)
21:51:11 - AlexColeman: (did I Meth?)
21:51:13 - Kit: (ok, putting on one as fast as possible)
21:51:37 - Kraiger: Do you _want_ to die? (draws pistol) I can speed thing sup you know...
21:51:47 - Kit: (from the nearest locker)
21:52:01 - AlexColeman: (Upon seeing Kit)It's in life support O2 regeneration unit
21:52:23 - AlexColeman: The bomb....
21:52:38 - Kit: will check (Trying to get there)
21:53:08 - Methuslah: The life support station is one up from the engineering room.
21:53:25 - Methuslah: The captain goes into engineering. You can hear him cursing over the intercom.
21:53:32 - AlexColeman: (proceeding there)
21:53:35 - Kit: (going there as soon as I got my suit on and in one hell of a hurry)
21:53:57 - Kraiger: (Points pistol at thugs head) - because if you don't start talking...
21:53:59 - StewartBailey: (What can I tell of the ship's condition from the panels in the bridge?)
21:54:43 - Kraiger: (lowers aim of gun) then I'm going to start blowing bits off, and make that last 10 minutes damned uncomfortable
21:55:01 - Methuslah: Kit & Alex - the Life Support room has been undamaged. You can find a box taht shouldn't be there, though, magnetically attached to the regulator. It has a keypad (0-9) and a timer, counting at 10:15.
21:55:08 - Kit: captain, status report on engineering? Heading for life support!
21:55:19 - Methuslah: Kraiger- "Kill me if you wish. I'll be dead soon, anyway."
21:55:34 - Kit: OK, I take a closer look to see if it would go off if taken away
21:55:36 - Methuslah: "The Jump Drive is a write-off. How are things in life support?)
21:55:40 - AlexColeman: I know a little demo from the Marines
21:56:05 - Kit: Bomb or somesuch. Trying to get rid of it now.
21:56:08 - AlexColeman: (proceed to check for booby traps)
21:56:16 - Kraiger just entered this channel
21:56:25 - AlexColeman: (on the device)
21:56:27 - Kit: (if you need a roll: 2D6: 6
21:56:35 - Methuslah: Stewart - according to the displays, the main reactor is offline, and the ship is on emergency battery power, good for three and a half hours. Life support appears to be functional, and the only area in a vacuum is Engineering. The navigation station is a write-off, so no astrographic data is avaliable.
21:56:42 - AlexColeman: 2D6: 3
21:56:58 - AlexColeman: [sorry]
21:57:09 - Kraiger: OK, you're resigned to die - want to die quickly, or slow and agonizingly?
21:57:19 - Kit: (my main interest: can the box be taken off without blowing and wheres the nearest airlock?)
21:57:44 - Methuslah: You recognize the bomb. It has magnetic clamps that are very difficult to detach. It can be removed with a keycode, but there is no way to stop detonation at this point. You could cut away the section of piping to remve the bomb.
21:58:11 - Methuslah: To sum - you can cut the bomb with a roll of 5 , taking 9 minutes, leaving you with about a minute to get rid of it, or you can get the code.
21:58:19 - Kit: (will do just that) Alex, find the nearest airlock and get it ready!
21:58:36 - Kit: (what skill would getting code fall under?)
21:58:48 - Methuslah: The nearest airlock is down the corridor.
21:58:53 - StewartBailey: (interrogation?)
21:59:07 - Kraiger: Or, if you start cooperating, you may just live through this... think of it... life! All the things you haven't seen, (etc. etc)
21:59:11 - AlexColeman: (looking for nearest airlock)
21:59:31 - Methuslah: I would allow Computer to get it out of the bomb. Interrogation would work to get it out of the prisoner.
21:59:57 - AlexColeman: (loudly) Kit I'm cyclying the airlock
22:00:01 - Methuslah: Alex- You find the airlock. It is functional.
22:00:29 - StewartBailey: (careful - that's jumpspace outside, not vacuum)
22:00:43 - Methuslah: "For what? BT killed everyone I cared about. It destroyed my ship. If it wasn't for the stupid tradewar, the Promethus would be intact today."
22:00:52 - Kit: (starting to cut) Hey, see if you can get someone to get the prisoner to talk
22:01:31 - Kraiger: But the prometheus _is_ intact!
22:01:38 - Kit: thatd be faster
22:01:49 - '1StewartBailey just entered this channel
22:01:59 - Methuslah: "I saw it, and my wife, destroyed!"
22:02:22 - Methuslah: Kit - make your roll. 5 or above, on two dice. Good Luck.
22:02:40 - StewartBailey just entered this channel
22:02:41 - Kraiger: Destroyed? By whom? It was a BT ship, so BT didn't kill them...
22:02:51 - Kit: Please dice 2D6: 4
22:02:56 - Kit: rats!
22:02:58 - StewartBailey: (I keep getting dropped.)
22:03:37 - Kit: (any chance for a luck point or somesuch?)
22:03:46 - Methuslah: You will not be able to cut the pipe in time. 2:45 left on the timer.
22:04:01 - Kit: (i hate these near misses)
22:04:11 - Kit: Guys, we GOTTA get the code!
22:04:15 - Methuslah: "By the Factors, but BT sent the ship in! It was an unarmed merchant vessel, they had no right using it in a war zone!"
22:04:25 - Kraiger just entered this channel
22:05:12 - Kraiger: Listen, we've all lost people we love - but in their memory, we have to go on living, live life to the full. For them, for their memory - tell me about the bombs..
22:05:42 - Kraiger: Why should _more_ innocent people die?
22:06:13 - Methuslah: "7893226." he whispers.
22:06:14 - AlexColeman:
(donning vacc suit now)
22:06:38 - Kit: Punching: 7893226
22:06:39 - Kraiger: Whats that? Code to the bomb?
22:06:48 - Methuslah: He then crunches his teeth, and falls down on his couch.
22:07:05 - Methuslah: The bomb detaches, smoothly away. 0:45 to go.
22:07:07 - Kit: (i thought we had commos in the suits?)
22:07:09 - Kraiger: (running towards the bridge, shouting ) The code, I have it - 7893226!
22:07:22 - Kit: Airlock (rushing for it with bomb!)
22:08:28 - Kraiger: (Kraiger stops to suit up just incase..)
22:08:51 - Methuslah: You get the bomb into the airlock with a few seconds to go, and flush it out into Jumpspace. A few seconds later, another explosion rocks the ship, but more gently this time, and with no evident side-effects.
22:09:32 - AlexColeman: (help Kit put bomb in airlock, then closing innner door and blowing bomb into jump space
22:09:37 - Kit: Thank goodness. (heading back to engineering) Now for the next problem
22:09:38 - Kraiger: (*phewwww*)
22:10:07 - Kraiger: (back to brig - the guys dead I guess?)
22:10:16 - StewartBailey: Captain, Kit, the power plant is off-line. We have three and a half hours of bettery left until we will make an uncontrolled exit from jumpspace.
22:10:28 - AlexColeman: (angry look) I'm gonna kill the SOB
22:10:31 - Kit: (Now with a BIT mor time, Ill check the damage and see what needs to be fixed first)
22:10:52 - Kit: OK, the Power plant then!
22:11:04 - AlexColeman: (proceds to brig)
22:11:18 - Methuslah: "All right. I need options. Countess, can you do anything with the reactor as our first priority?"
22:12:05 - StewartBailey: (intercom) Kraiger, Coleman, are there any more bombs aboard?
22:12:05 - Kit: Sure captain, but call me Kit, I listen better to that. Let me get a look at the situation (proceeding to power plant)
22:12:31 - AlexColeman: (brb)
22:12:58 - Kraiger: (intercom) - I don't think so - but this guys not telling us any more...
22:13:06 - Methuslah: The power plant damage is not really severe, more secondary blast damage. The Jump drive was the main target, and that is just wreckage. You can repair this in under the deadline, but it will need constant supervision - the automatic saftey features are damaged beyond repair.
22:13:06 - Kit: (comm) Captain, please tell your engineers to listen to what I tell them. We got no time fro further delays!
22:13:24 - Methuslah: Alex, you arrive at the brig to find the prisoner dead.
22:13:39 - StewartBailey: (I push "108" on the intercom. Does the Steward answer? Where is he?)
22:13:49 - Methuslah: "We only have Barret left from Engineering. Shall I send him down?"
22:13:56 - Kit: OK, Ill fix the power plant first, then see ´what I can do about the Jump drive.
22:13:59 - Methuslah: The intercom seems to be offline.
22:14:18 - Kit: Yes send barret down, hes DOES seem to know something about jump drives.
22:14:37 - Kraiger: Alex, lets find the Steward - I think the time for subtlty is passed!
22:14:50 - Methuslah: "On my way, ma'am."
22:15:01 - Kit: Use suits comms! Fixing intercon has low priority right now.
22:15:06 - AlexColeman: OK Kraiger
22:15:46 - Kraiger: (head off to try and find the steward) (recon - 1)
22:15:53 - Methuslah: Alex & Kraiger - As you make your way down the corridors, the passengers are bustling everywhere. The stewards are all panicked, and not helping. You are finding it hard to push through the crowds.
22:16:08 - Methuslah: The Purser is not answering an intercom.
22:17:20 - AlexColeman: (ring buzzer twice quickly)
22:17:40 - AlexColeman: (at his stateroom)
22:18:21 - Methuslah: No response from the Purser.
22:18:30 - Methuslah: Barrety
22:18:47 - StewartBailey: (suit comm) Kraiger, Coleman, one of you come up here. I may need to help in engineering soon (engineering-2).
22:18:54 - Methuslah: Barret makes his way into Engineering, wearing a vacc suit, and looks at the mess that was the Jump Drive.
22:19:16 - Methuslah: "I think I'd better fix this - or we'll never leave jumpspace."
22:19:46 - Kraiger: (Open the stateroom door)
22:20:01 - Kit: once the reactor is online again, well see to the jump drive.
22:20:22 - AlexColeman: (draws pistol)
22:20:57 - Kit: (kit seems surprisingly calm and fully concentrated on her work) Anyone with any skill in Engineering can lend a hand here!
22:21:39 - Kraiger: (Meth: I am assuming I am _not_ wearing vacc suit)
22:22:03 - Methuslah: The door opens. You can see the Purser stnading straight. He has a handgun point straight at your head. (You aren't wearing a vaccsuit.)
22:22:17 - Methuslah: "Yes ma'am. I will assist you."
22:22:37 - Methuslah: Kit- you will need no rolls to fix the power plant - it is a failry simple job, but time-consuming.
22:22:50 - Kit: Okay Barret, lets get to work! (Meth tell me when you need a roll)
22:23:02 - Kraiger: (Assess situation - can I dive and tackle?)
22:23:58 - AlexColeman: (hugging outside of door like SWAT does)
22:24:19 - Methuslah: You can, Kraiger - but he will get a shot at you, albeit with much reduced accuracy (10 or above to hit).
22:24:21 - AlexColeman: (out of sight of purser)
22:25:45 - Kraiger: (I still have pistol in hand right? If so, I evade and take a shot...)
22:26:24 - Methuslah: You do. OK - the Purser will shoot first, then you. 2D6: 3
22:26:49 - Methuslah: The bullet makes a deep impression on the wall behind you.
22:26:58 - Kraiger: 2D6: 4
22:27:26 - AlexColeman: (upon hearing shot I come around door and shoot purser)
22:27:36 - Kit: (seems Im not the only one rolling low today )
22:27:37 - Methuslah: Your shot also misses. Alex, are you intervening?
22:27:53 - Kraiger: (Any cover? I will dive for it while putting down supressing fire)
22:28:09 - AlexColeman: 2D6: 6 ( 1 pistol)
22:28:40 - AlexColeman: (coming around door shooting purser)
22:28:43 - Methuslah: The best you can do is back out into the corridor. Alex - you get him in the chest, for (3D) damage.
22:29:15 - AlexColeman: 3D6: 12
22:29:22 - Kraiger: (goes to knee and shoots again)
22:30:54 - Methuslah: Yowza! The Purser falls to he ground, blood leaking out of his chest.
22:31:09 - Methuslah: Kraiger - roll 4 or above ( a sitting target, after all ).
22:31:58 - Kraiger: 2D6: 3
22:32:34 - Methuslah: What! You are standing over the prone body of a mand rapidly dying on the deck, and you miss!
22:32:38 - Kraiger: Now try to disarm him
22:33:04 - AlexColeman: (holsters pistol moves to purser) I need a medical kit, steward?
22:33:09 - Kit: (maybe hes having a feeling of mercy after all )
22:33:12 - Kraiger: (I was trying to pull the shot to miss - so maybe we can question him! )
22:33:14 - Methuslah: His pistol falls from his fingers into yours easily. He seems to have fallen unconscious.
22:33:49 - AlexColeman: (use direct pressure on bleeding)
22:34:08 - Kraiger: (Pockets pistol (on safe), and tries to locate med kit for Alex)
22:34:47 - Methuslah: There is a medkit on the wall.
22:35:03 - Methuslah: "What's going on! I can hear shooting!"
22:35:15 - AlexColeman: (As soon as medkit arrives I apply first aid (Medic-2))
22:35:33 - Methuslah: Stewart - the Navigator looks to be in a bad way - he has fallen unconsious now.
22:35:38 - AlexColeman: (grab it )
22:35:42 - Methuslah: (OK - roll 6 to save his life.)
22:36:05 - AlexColeman: 2D6: 10
22:36:24 - StewartBailey: (Is navigation critical now? After all, we've already made our jump.)
22:37:00 - Methuslah: Stewart - the man is badly wounded.
22:37:04 - Kraiger: (I will search the room (recon-1) )
22:37:19 - AlexColeman: Sorry Kraiger, maybe we should work out some hand signals for tactical situations like this?
22:37:22 - Methuslah: Alex - you manage to stop the bleeding, but you think he has internal damage. He needs to go into a low berth.
22:37:31 - Methuslah: Roll 7 or more, Kraiger.
22:37:57 - Methuslah: Kit - you have the power plant on-line. Now you need to reconnect power - 4 or more.
22:38:20 - StewartBailey: (I call medical on the suit comm) We have personnel down on the bridge. Need immediate assisstance.
22:38:23 - Kraiger: No worries - you did te right thing ( 2D6: 8)
22:38:22 - Kit: 2D6: 8
22:38:36 - Kit: Power back online!
22:39:45 - AlexColeman: (to steward or nearby passenger) Help me get him into a emergency low berth
22:39:54 - Kit: (Proceeding to Jumpdrive. How fast does this have to be fixed?)
22:40:33 - Kraiger: Alex - check his pockets before you stick him in low berth, if you can...
22:40:36 - Methuslah: The ship's lights come on, and the intercom begins to work again. Stewart - the intercom on the bridge is jammed with calls.
22:41:02 - Methuslah: The Jumpdrive will need to be fixed before you can leave Jumpspace, in six and a half days time.
22:41:07 - AlexColeman: (softly to Kraig)Will do
22:41:32 - Methuslah: Kraiger - you find a collection of documents in the Purser's desk, indicating that he was in the pay of McClellan Factors.
22:41:44 - Methuslah: No-one replies from medical.
22:41:48 - StewartBailey: (I'll answer the calls in a reasonable priority order to see what the status of the ship is and determine the extent of the damage.)
22:41:50 - Kit: (OK, that is some time. That means Ican see to any injured first)
22:42:05 - AlexColeman: (will check pockets as I carry purser to emerc. low berth )
22:42:09 - StewartBailey: (Is anyone else on the bridge?)
22:42:14 - Kit: Any medical emergencies that need to be attended to?
22:42:35 - Methuslah: "I'll give you a hand, my friend!", calls the reassuring voice of Captain Arturo, also wearing a vacc suit. He picks up the purser with you and starst moving to medical.
22:42:38 - Kraiger: (Collects papers, and searches room for any other clues)
22:42:57 - Methuslah: The pilot is sitting bolt-upright in his chari, staring blankly into space, other than this, you are alone on the bridge.
22:43:43 - Methuslah: There is nothing in the purser's pockets, except some loose change, the key to his cabin.
22:44:20 - Methuslah: You find nothing of any note in the room, excpet a card advertising 'The Trane Aquatic Safari'.
22:44:29 - StewartBailey: (I will try to assess the navigator's condition while answering the calls, but determining the status of the ship has to stay higher priority.)
22:44:57 - Methuslah: Stewart - looking at the pilot's station reveals that external sensors and communication are offline. The navigator is unconsiousm but does not appear to be worsening.
22:45:05 - Kit: Barret, take an assessment of the damage to the jumpdrive. Ill see if there are any medical emergencies, then return to you. (Heads for Bridge)
22:45:06 - Kraiger: (keep the card too, then head to bridge)
22:45:55 - Methuslah: As you reach Medical, you see the harried doctor sliding another patient into a low berth. He looks at you, at the Purser, and gestures you to put him down on the table. "Please leave the medical bay. I have enough business today without you bringing me more."
22:46:11 - Methuslah: "Captain to Bridge. Status report?"
22:46:52 - Kit: Power back online, serious Damage to Jump Drive but can be fixed.
22:47:03 - StewartBailey: Captain, Bailer here. Power plant back on line. Jump drive down. External sensors down. Communications down. Navigator injured but stable.
22:48:12 - Kit: (once on bridge, checks up on navigator and pilots medical condition)
22:48:12 - StewartBailey: (I check other crew stations for any other important information on the status of ship's systems.)
22:48:44 - Methuslah: "OK. Commander - keep the bridge for the moment. I'll go and take a look at the sensor suite. Let's hope the trouble is inside the ship."
22:49:28 - Kraiger: (when i reach bridge) Stewart,Kit, everyone OK?
22:49:45 - AlexColeman:
(after dropping off the soon to be stiff I head to the bridge)
22:50:27 - StewartBailey: Check these men, if you can. Their condition apprars to be stable, but I'm no doctor.
22:50:32 - Methuslah: Pilot appears unharmed physically. Mentally is another question entirely. The navigator is unconsious but stable. All other ship systems are functioning.
22:50:35 - Kit: Im ok, for now. (while taking care of Navigator and Pilot) anyone else in need of medical assistance?
22:51:06 - Kit: (seeing to it that both patients are stabilized)
22:51:29 - Kit: does medical still have room?
22:51:48 - StewartBailey: Kit, Kraiger, there could be two plots here. Why would someone try to kill us if they also knew that the ship was about to be destrored?
22:52:13 - Kraiger: (recaps what happened for Kit and Stewart)
22:52:31 - Methuslah: The medical bay seemed harried, but there are 16 low berths on the ship - sufficient for the wounded.
22:53:01 - Kit: i dunno. Doesnt make much sense. But the thugs knew about the bomb didnt they? Maybe they wanted to kidnap us off the ship. Is there an escape vessel of some kind on board?
22:53:21 - Kraiger: Yes, why were the sneaking around when the ship was going to blow?
22:53:31 - AlexColeman: (come on Meth I have six more days LOL)
22:55:17 - Methuslah: The captain interjects via his suit intercom. "Perhaps the bombs were a fail-safe, in case you couldn't be killed. We already know they had an accomplice who could have disarmed them - the Purser."
22:55:20 - Kraiger: That thug was the worst kind - a fanatic (*sighs and hangs his head*), the horrors I've seen perpetrated for one fanatical cause or another...
22:55:53 - AlexColeman:
(heading for bridge)
22:56:19 - Kit: I hope they are now out of fail-safe measures!
22:56:32 - StewartBailey: (suit comm) Barrett, how does the jump drive look? How long will repairs take? Do you need assisstance?
22:57:00 - Kraiger: Still I wonder what they told those guys we were doing, that would convince them to sign their own death warrants?
22:57:18 - Kit: I think we can get the drive back online, but itll need contsnt superveillance. Any assistance will be welcome
22:57:36 - StewartBailey: This does sound more serious than a simple race to explore unknows space.
22:57:37 - Methuslah: "Well, I think I might be able to salvage enough to bring out ouf of jump space, by swapping parts out of the manoevure drive. It'll only work once before burnout, though. This ship will need a long refit."
22:58:01 - Kit: so much for punctuality
22:58:22 - Kraiger: (spreads out pursers papers, looking for more clues) - here's what I found...
22:58:38 - AlexColeman: (entering bridge) Looks like the purser had his own agenda
22:58:55 - StewartBailey: Let's see...
23:00:20 - Kit: captain, need any help with the sensors?
23:00:45 - Methuslah: The captain does not answer his comm.
23:01:12 - StewartBailey: (suit comm) Captain? Captain?
23:01:16 - Kit: Captain?
23:01:38 - Kit: Im gonna check on him, maybe someone with a weapon should come as well.
23:01:40 - StewartBailey: Where was he last?
23:01:46 - Methuslah: Nothing but static.
23:02:05 - Kraiger: OK, I'll go with you Kit
23:02:14 - AlexColeman: (draws pistol) Which way to the sensor suit, looks like I might be needed there
23:02:18 - Kit: heading for the sensors, lets check that (going that direction, VERY carefully)
23:02:47 - AlexColeman: (holster pistol) ok Kraiger
23:02:54 - Methuslah: Two doors down from the bridge.
23:03:02 - Kit: just when we thought our trouble was over!
23:03:11 - Kraiger: (follows Kit, pistol drawn)
23:04:07 - Methuslah: The door to the sensor suite is open. You can see electral sparks on the controls, and the room is filled with static electricity. The Captain is lying on the floor, out cold.
23:04:43 - Kit: Quick look if anyone else is in room, then go to check on captain)
23:05:15 - Methuslah: No one else in the room. The captain seems to have been badly electrocuted, but not seriously enough to kill him.
23:05:31 - Kit: (if necessary pulling plug on sensor grid to avoid electricity damage)
23:05:35 - Kraiger: (covering)
23:05:58 - Kit: (stabilize Captain, pulling him out of room)
23:06:16 - Kraiger: I guess we shouldn't have trusted him with this, either!
23:06:23 - Kit: (once captain is safe and stable, check out damage in room)
23:06:39 - Methuslah: It looks like he'll need to be placed in low berth. Stewart, I think this leaves you in command.
23:06:52 - Kraiger: I'll get _him_ to medical (holsters pistol and goes to find a steward)
23:07:05 - Methuslah: The sensor panels are badly damaged. Make a roll of 7 or more to try and fix them.
23:07:26 - Kit: okay, lets hope for a good roll 2D6: 4
23:07:33 - Kit: rats
23:07:39 - Kit: not my day
23:07:58 - StewartBailey: Fair enough, let's fix this damage before we become permanent residents of jumpspace.
23:08:23 - Methuslah: Looks like sensors will be non-operational. On the up side, communications look OK - so when (if) you leave jumpspace, you should be able to call for help.
23:08:50 - StewartBailey: (suit comm - calling stewards) How are the passengers doing?
23:08:57 - Methuslah: "Er....Commander? I could use some help down here. There are a lot of pieces to put back together."
23:09:20 - Kit: OK, Barret Im Coming!
23:09:56 - StewartBailey: Krraiger, take the bridge while I assisst our prodigy Barrett.
23:10:36 - Kraiger: Sure thing Stewart (takes stock, answers comm calls, etc.)
23:11:02 - Methuslah: "This is Second Steward Potter, sir. The passengers are beginning to panic. According to Medical, there are now six people in cold sleep, including the captain and purser, and a lot of other injuries. Could you come down and talk to them?"
23:11:17 - Kit: (heading back to Barret)
23:11:54 - StewartBailey: Coleman, can you do your best to calm the passengers while we try to get the drives back on-line?
23:11:54 - AlexColeman: (whispers to Kraiger) Ground punder in charge of a starship, mark this day for history (laugh)
23:12:17 - Kraiger: (*grins*)
23:12:31 - Kit:
23:12:49 - Kraiger: Alex, do you want to go talk to the passengers?
23:13:07 - AlexColeman: (fondles pistol briefly) Yeah sure. (heads to sickbay)
23:13:13 - Kraiger: I'll stay here and, umm, keep an eye on things (looks around a little lost)
23:13:26 - StewartBailey: And try not to kill any of them.
23:14:16 - AlexColeman: Actually I haven't technically killed anybody yet...
23:14:25 - Methuslah: Stewart & Kit - Barret quickly puts you to work on jump drive reassembly. He is basically stripping down components from the maneouvre drive to patch the jump drive. This will leave the maneouvre drive non-operational.
23:14:45 - Kraiger: (Not sure how calm he'll make them, but I think they'll do as they're told... )
23:15:11 - Kit: hey, I feel right at home, Just like courier duty. Jump and hope for pickup
23:15:12 - Methuslah: Stewart, a group of six passengers comes running up the corridor towards the bridge. A man wearing a tattered Stward's unifrom, his arm in a sling, is trying to stop them.
23:16:47 - StewartBailey: Ladies! Gentlemen! Please remain calm. The danger is past and we are doing our best to repair the damage to get you safely to your destination. Please let the crew do their job.
23:17:31 - Methuslah: "Where is the Captain?"
23:18:11 - Kit: I know why I don't take passengers onto my ship!
23:18:26 - StewartBailey: The captain was injured while repairing the damage. He's being well cared for. How can I help you?
23:20:02 - Methuslah: "We want to know the truth. Right now! We're all doomed, aren't we." A murmur of agreement runs around.
23:20:44 - AlexColeman:
(I'm not there yet)
23:21:47 - StewartBailey: We are absolutely not doomed. We have already made great progress towards fixing the damage and anticipate no problems. It will just take some time to complete the repairs. We can complete the repairs more quickly if we have additional help. Is anyone here trained in ships engineering or communications systems?
23:21:53 - AlexColeman: (seeing Bailey and passengers) Need some help Commander?
23:22:14 - Methuslah: Alex - you reach Medical to find the Medic putting another person into cold-sleep. A half-dozen walking wounded are sitting around the room, a space meant for two. Captain Arturo is also there. "Can I help, sir?"
23:22:46 - StewartBailey: Mr Coleman, everything is under control. I'm just trying to speed up our repairs by finding additinal qualified help.
23:23:05 - Methuslah: One of the passengers steps forward, and claims a classification in Engineering. Another steps forward stating he is a communications technician.
23:23:07 - AlexColeman: (sorry my mistake) Can I help Doc?
23:24:20 - Kraiger: (While I'm on the bridge, I'll have a go at bringing up the passenger and crew rosters, to see if I can find any more info on our "friends" Comp-0 )
23:24:34 - Methuslah: "Not right now. I've put seven into low berths - hopefully they should stay alive until we dock. There are also ten walking wounded. Thsi ship took a hell of a pounding."
23:25:12 - StewartBailey: I appreciate any help that you can offer. (to the engineer) Please report to Mr. Barrett in engineering to see if you can help him. (to the comms guy) Please come with me so that we can figure how to get comms cack again. I'm getting tired of there darn suit comms.
23:25:13 - AlexColeman: (attend to walking wounded)
23:25:26 - Methuslah: Kraiger - roll 8 or above for success.
23:25:55 - Kit: (Hey intercom is back online since power is!)
23:26:08 - Methuslah: The passengers nod. The engineer heads off down the corridor, while the com tech moves to your side. The others disperse.
23:26:17 - StewartBailey: (or is that comms?)
23:26:56 - Kraiger: 2D6: 4
23:27:10 - Kraiger: (Not my day! )
23:27:28 - Methuslah: You can't get any details from the computer - the passenger manifest has been encrypted.
23:27:35 - Kit: (not anyones day 2D6: 3)
23:27:46 - Kit: ( 2D6: 7)
23:27:55 - Kit: ( 2D6: 6)
23:27:58 - StewartBailey: (I lead the comms technician to the comms room, show him the damage and ask him to get back to me with an assessment of the damage and what it will take to repair it as soon as he can.)
23:28:04 - Kit: (just checking 2D6: 3)
23:28:37 - Kit: ( 2D6: 7)
23:28:48 - Kit: ( 2D6: 6)
23:28:57 - Kit: (hmm? 2D6: 10)
23:29:01 - Methuslah: The technician says, "Soon have this fixed, sir. Full internal and external communication will be back up in an hour. I'm afraid the sensors are toast."
23:29:20 - Kit: (well it does roll higher )
23:29:42 - StewartBailey: Great, I appreciate the help. Let me know when it's done.
23:30:25 - Methuslah: "Aye, aye, sir."
23:31:12 - StewartBailey: (and I'm back to engineering to help with fixing the jump drive.)
23:31:43 - Methuslah: When you get to engineering, Barret states that the jump drive will be ready for the departure in five hours.
23:32:02 - AlexColeman: (after attending wounded head back to bridge)
23:32:27 - StewartBailey: (Departure? I thought that we we in jump, just waiting to come out on the other side.)
23:33:27 - Kit: we wont "depart" in 5 hours, but well be ready to! Plenty of time left for us!
23:34:44 - Kit: or for some other trouble to start
23:35:54 - Methuslah: OK - the next few hours pass fairly uneventfully. The jump drive is made operational again, just barely. Other systems appear to be working, except for sensors and (now) maneouvre drive.
23:35:59 - Kraiger: (Is it my imagination, or is the chat room starting to show some lag?)
23:36:00 - AlexColeman: (upon entering bridge)Sya Kraig, want to make it a red letter mark on the day, let me have the command a brief time (chuckles)
23:36:34 - StewartBailey: [OOG: I've got to go soon.]
23:37:09 - Kraiger: Sure (in best tri-vid accent) Mr. Coleman, you have the helm
23:37:10 - Methuslah: OK - as we've reached the end of the game' day', shall we call a halt?
23:37:36 - StewartBailey: [sounds good to me]
23:37:39 - Kit: fine with me, Im starting to get tired.
23:37:42 - Kraiger: Fine by me
23:37:50 - AlexColeman: Thank you I have the con
23:38:05 - Methuslah: OK - good game!
23:38:13 - StewartBailey: Next week.
23:38:29 - AlexColeman: [Great game]
23:38:31 - Kit: Next Sunday, same Time?
23:38:52 - Methuslah: Yes.
23:39:00 - Kit: Ill be butting the log up on the intro page okay?
23:39:07 - Kraiger: Excellent game! I don't think I'll be here next week - Try not to let Alex fill up the last low-berth bays, huh?
23:39:15 - Methuslah: Excellent idea.
23:39:38 - Methuslah: We'll have to hope on that one.
23:39:38 - Kit: Well look out for you alex. Maybe the rest of the trip will be more quiet?
